We add fate, time traveling/looping whatever and just copy and paste it from some other series and hope it saves it. Really though, I have a feeling the admiral knew that they were in a time loop, and this is the first time he had the dream. He had a feeling the dream would put an end to it, but in the end it cost him his own life. However, with one episode left, I doubt they can explain all of that. In this case the Battle of Midway. e.g. Akagi-senpai being ambushed by the dive bombers/abyssals due to a lack of radar: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_aircraft_carrier_Akagi#Midway We can't lose anymore moe characters so Fubuki better turn the tide of the battle, somehow.
