Bowing

What are your thoughts on bowing?

If you've ever been to Japan you will quickly get accustomed to it.

A quick bow is enough in most casual encounters.

But if you're ever over there for work and meeting a school principal (like I did once) then you can expect to bow past 45 degrees, and slowly... :o

I didn't realize they still did that sort of thing in Japan. I really thought it was just an outdated thing they just did in anime. :P

I would find it kinda awkward at first, but I'm sure I would get accustomed to it if I ever moved to Japan.

I'm not much for bowing. I'd say that I wouldn't be accustom to their ways or mannerisms. I'd come off rude and I don't want to do that. Best for me to stay in America.

Japan's still stuck in their outdated traditions nowadays, for all the good it has done them. :meh:

I wouldn't mind bowing though. Being an Asian myself, I've had to go through even more awkward traditions myself around here. Freaking annoying, these traditions.

Hm, I was with some of my friends last week, and one of my friends brought over one of his friends who was Japanese and had recently moved here. I did notice that he did a quick small bow as he greeted us. I did;t think much of it back then of course xD

I actually bow all the time (small ones ) , when I meet new people and when I say thank you to someone , though for some reason I don't do it with my family or close friends.

I picked it up from some of my other family when they visited (when I was quite young) and it just sort of stuck with me.

Though I do get some odd looks some times , its not common at all in SA so when people notice it they sometimes get confused.
