    1. This is the third entry in a series on how to make your own web manga.

The story structure we came up with in the previous post is good enough that we can start drawing. However, you might want to expand it more so your story will have polish. Here’s a look at our current story:

      Quote

      Beginning
Takeji is a nerdy highschool boy. He’s quite tall and gets bullied for it constantly. This makes him want to quit school.

      Middle
One day he meets a transfer student named Hayato who is also tall. Hayato shows him an NBA game. This motivates Takeji to learn the sport of basketball. With Hayato’s help he gets ready to try out for his school’s basketball club.

      End
Takeji makes the cut and is accepted into the club. However, he also realizes how far he is from making it into the NBA. He has a lot to improve on first. This was only the first step of his long journey.

As previously mentioned, a basic story structure is composed of a beginning, middle, and end. An advanced story structure meanwhile has a:

Beginning Beginning (that’s not a typo)
      Middle Beginning
      End Beginning

      Beginning Middle
      Middle Middle
      End Middle

      Beginning End
      Middle End
      End End

Confusing isn’t it? It will start to make sense once you realize what’s going on. We are just taking our 3 main parts (beginning, middle, end) and adding another 3 parts to each one. Beginning gets its own (beginning, middle, end) Middle also gets a (beginning, middle, end) and the same thing happens with End. Let’s see it in action.

      Beginning Beginning
Takeji is a nerdy highschool boy. He’s quite tall and gets bullied for it constantly. This makes him want to quit school.

      Middle Beginning
The bullies who usually give Takeji trouble are 4 boys from the school swimming club. Their leader is a boy named Kaiba. One day during gym class, Kaiba steals Takeji’s shoes without him noticing. He then hides it somewhere leaving Takeji no choice but to walk home on barefoot.

      End Beginning
Because of this latest act of bullying, Tajeki no longer wants to go to school. He cries and begs his parents to let him drop out. He would start looking for work instead. His parents eventually give in and agree that in a week he would be stopping school.

      Beginning Middle
On his last day, Takeji bumps into a transfer student named Hayato who is also tall. Hayato asks if he plays basketball. Takeji says he has never even heard of the sport.
Shocked, Hayato shows him an NBA game.

      Middle Middle
Lying in bed that night Takeji couldn’t sleep. He was thinking about the basketball game Hayato showed him. For reasons he didn’t know, he wanted to play basketball. The next day he shocks his parents telling them he wants to continue school. He then finds Hayato who agrees to teach him the game of basketball.

      End Middle
While training, Takeji surprises Hayato by telling him he wants to try out for the school basketball team. When Hayato asks why? Takeji says he wants to make it to the NBA and play against the best players in the world.

      Beginning End
Takeji and Hayato sign up for the upcoming tryout. There they meet 2 players from the school basketball team named Shinzo and Chinatsu. Shinzo is surprised as to why the nerdy Takeji wants to try out for the team. He then warns him that he would soon regret his decision.

      Middle End
The tryout begins. Takeji and Hayato pass the first 3 cuts and are on the final one. The final cut pits aspiring members against the school’s basketball players. It’s an intense game as Shinzo matches up with Takeji.

      End End
Takeji and Hayato make the final cut and are now official members of the team. Takeji also earns Shinzo’s respect. But deep inside Takeji knows he barely made the team and realizes he has a long way to go.

    2. So for the past few weeks I've been really into a few animes. I finished watching Goblinslayer with my dad, but we've also just started watching Overlord . . . I'm also in the process of catching up with Black Clover!

1.) Is the anime worth watching? (Let me know in the comments)

But I'm still in love with "The Disastrous Life of Saiki Kusuo", it has become my all-time favorite! Oh! I can't forget about "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" . . .

2.) But are there any more good animes I should keep an eye out for?

      Violet Evergarden

What do you think about a mannequin wanting to understand love? Let's take aside my biased rate for a moment and dive into this miraculous world. It's great graphics and story telling are certainly out of the ordinary. High Budget = High Quality All of my expectations have been fully satisfied. The story takes place in the early 20th century. Precisely in the aftermath of a war where the main character has been a part of. Unfortunately, the anime ended with a cliffhanger. What happened to the Major was what I asked myself throughout the whole series. Don't google it if you don't want to be spoiled. Violet Evergarden is a bunch of unique stories from people who Violet meets during her journey as an Auto Memories Doll.

      Soul Eater

Soul Eater is one of my top ten favorite anime and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a series that has action mixed with tons of comedy. Every character has their own quirks and personality. The comedy doesn't take away from the action and the series pretty much sticks to the story instead of running all over the place like a lot of newer anime tends to do. The graphics are done quite well and again it's definitely a unique style of artwork that I don't see in a lot of anime. I will say however, if you watch the anime in the English language (let's face it, there are anime that have been dubbed in multiple languages. Not a lot but there are a few; thus I cannot speak for them), there are some minor mistakes. One noticeably is during an episode later in the series (can't remember which one that it was in but it was quite a bit later in the series) where the female doctor and Dr. Stein are having a conversation on the correct way to make coffee however what they were making was tea, not coffee (the box they were using was clearly labeled "Tea"). So if small things like that don't bother you then you'll definitely like this anime. Anyway, if I would have to choose one thing that makes this anime stand out from the others, it would have to be the artwork, definitely. The characters would be a close second.

      Zombieland Saga

Having finished this series earlier today,  I'm left asking the question "Is the glass half empty or half full?"  The premiere episode made me laugh out loud, but also made it seem likely that it's gimmicky sense of parody wouldn't stay funny through the entire season. In that sense the decision to explore the girls' backstories and personalities was definitely the right decision to extend the life of the series and led to some truly emotional moments (Lily's is the best example but Ai & Junko's as well). Unfortunately, there were too many missed opportunities to develop the characters and story further while there was only one other episode that matched the premiere episode's comedy. Then there's the fact that despite music being a major part of the show, I really didn't care for the songs (with the exception of the truly angelic harmonies of Hikari e While the finale turned out better than I thought it would, it's emphasis on still unanswered questions, when there is no official confirmation of any sort of follow up left me feeling unsatisfied. So  in the end, while it was definitely entertaining and better than the concept behind it led me to believe, it unfortunately felt like it could'a/should'a been even better

      Banana Fish

I haven't fully watched the entire series, but I am in love with Ash x Eiji already! Ash is funny, he's trigger happy, selfless, and at times he's bratty and stubborn. But he's a cute blonde that knows what he wants . . . and clearly that's Eiji! Even the way the two have developed compared to when they first met to later in the series, their development truly pulled away at my heartstrings. Nevertheless, I still need to watch more of it so that I can better grasp the story itself. IRL keeps me from watching episodes completely. Once I watch it completely, I shall return and rate this again.
