Gekijouban Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale
Episodes: 1 Start date: End date:

Description

* Based on Kawahara Reki`s light novel series Sword Art Online.

In 2022, the world of virtual reality was upended by the arrival of a new invention from a genius programmer, Kayaba Akihiko. Called NerveGear, it was the first full-dive system and with it, came endless possibilities to VRMMORPGs.

In 2026, a new machine called the Augma is developed to compete against the NerveGear and its successor, the Amusphere. A next-gen wearable device, the Augma doesn`t have a full-dive function like its predecessors. Instead, it uses Augmented Reality (AR) to get players into the game. It is safe, user-friendly and lets users play while they are conscious, making it an instant hit on the market. The most popular game on the system is Ordinal Scale (aka: OS), an ARMMORPG developed exclusively for the Augma.

Asuna and the gang have already been playing OS for a while, by the time Kirito decides to join them. They`re about to find out that Ordinal Scale isn`t all fun and games...

Overall it was a fantastic movie! The pacing, art and storyline were amazing! It went way beyond my expectations and gave us another great SAO masterpiece. It explained everything very clearly which was good.

The movie really showed how SAO was still negatively impacting the world in a interesting way. Some scenes really pulled at my heartstrings as well.

Best of all, Kirito wasn't way too OP! 👏👏👏👏👏

But yeah, it was fantastic and I highly recommend it!

10/10. This movie was amazing, it shattered my expectations and went beyond what I expected; It explained everything very well and it didn't butcher RL-VR, which is what I was afraid it might do.

It gave us even more loveable and adorable Kirito X Asuna scenes and it showed us how Sword art itself is still impacting the world in negative ways. I loved this because it shows how truly great Akihiko Kayaba's technology is, his legacy will live on forever.

It developed as a film very steadily and very well; I didn't feel like I was missing something or lost while watching the movie. I loved the finale and the battle against the final floor 100 boss of Aincrad, this although did mess with me just a little bit.

Kayaba is SAO season 1 said "I was to be the boss that awaited you on floor 100" but then of course Kirito killed him and only his consciousness lived on, but that would mean there would be no boss on floor 100 right? Unless of course Kayaba's mind was still creating things in the game which I suppose would not be impossible and which is a really cool thing to think about.

Amazing movie.
