A Silent Voice: The Movie

  • AKA: 聲の形 , The Shape of Voice, Koe no Katachi

  • Episodes: 1

As a wild youth, elementary school student Shouya Ishida sought to beat boredom in the cruelest ways. When the deaf Shouko Nishimiya transfers into his class, Shouya and the rest of his class thoughtlessly bully her for fun. However, when her mother notifies the school, he is singled out and blamed for everything done to her. With Shouko transferring out of the school, Shouya is left at the mercy of his classmates. He is heartlessly ostracized all throughout elementary and middle school, while teachers turn a blind eye.

Now in his third year of high school, Shouya is still plagued by his wrongdoings as a young boy. Sincerely regretting his past actions, he sets out on a journey of redemption: to meet Shouko once more and make amends.

Koe no Katachi tells the heartwarming tale of Shouya's reunion with Shouko and his honest attempts to redeem himself, all while being continually haunted by the shadows of his past.

This movie makes me cry every time I watch it. It is so beautiful. The characters are relatable, and the movie itself gives an amazing perspective to how people view the world in their own ways. For example, I can relate to Shouya Ishida because I'm the kind of person that likes to block out the world in order to avoid conflict or even conversation.

Shouka Nishimiya's positive view on the world reminds me of my sister. Though she isn't deaf like Nishimiya chan, my sister does suffer from a mental illness, but that doesn't stop her from being positive. These two people face a lot of discrimination from the people around them because of their disabilities and their outlook on the world, which isn't fair.

Nevertheless, I truly do recommend this movie to anyone that wants a relatable and inspiring viewing experience.

This movie definitely gives you the feels. I've enjoyed how this story/plot was written and the growth of the main characters. The minor characters also showed some growth as well, just not as dramatic as the female and male protagonists. It takes you into a wave of emotions from feeling irritated yet sympathizing with some characters. If there was ever a movie you wanted to show as a life lesson, this one would be it. Definitely worth the watch. I'm sorry if my review lacks details such as music, art, etcetera. But the film itself is truly a movie to watch with your friends or cuddle up with your favorite person. In the end, it isn't just a slice of life, but a growing relationship. I did give it a 9/10, because of minor things I thought could have been worked on more. But that's just more of a personal taste.

HSOTD went on a hiatus following the Author Daisuke Satō’s death in March 2017 but now the franchise is undergoing a heavy petition in order to have it completed.
The story follows a group of high school students caught in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.
The Anime was produced by Madhouse studios and published by Sentai Filmworks
The ongoing petition is for HSOTD to be given to another studio/Author to have both the Manga and Series completed
At the first time of seeing this this only 5000 people had signed

Okay, so I know this is a pretty broad question, but have you ever watched an anime that managed to just really piss you off? Like was the ending really bad or confusing? Did something about the show seem really cryptic to you? Was there a question that was never answered that really stuck with you?
For me, it definitely has to be: Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt!
Don't get me wrong, I freaking love that series . . . but did anything seem weird to you? The final showdown between the angels and demons? The way Panty kinda left after being shunned as an angel . . . or could it possibly have been . . . HOW STOCKING MANAGED TO CHOP HER SISTER INTO A MILLION TINY PIECES AND THEN FUCKING REVEAL THAT SHE WAS A DEMON?!?!
Seriously, who the hell writes this crap?! You can't just end the series like that, leaving it open for a new season and it never comes! WTF?! That left me thinking about it for months?
      Stocking . . . a samurai angel . . . who helped Panty, a gunslinging angel . . . defeat Satan and the devil sisters . . . TURNS OUT TO BE A FUCKING DEMON?!
      smh . . .
