The Future Diary

  • AKA: Mirai Nikki, 未来日記
  • Aired: 10/08/2011
  • Episodes: 26

Lonely high school student, Yukiteru Amano, spends his days writing a diary on his cellphone, while conversing with his two seemingly imaginary friends Deus Ex Machina, who is the god of time and space, and Murmur, the god's servant. Revealing himself to be an actual entity, Deus grants Yukiteru a "Random Diary," which shows highly descriptive entries based on the future and forces him into a bloody battle royale with 11 other holders of similarly powerful future diaries.

With the last person standing designated as the new god of time and space, Yukiteru must find and kill the other 11 in order to survive. He reluctantly teams up with his obsessive stalker Yuno Gasai (who also possesses such a diary), and she takes it upon herself to ensure his safety. But there's more to the girl than meets the eye, as she might have other plans for her unrequited love...

It's actually one of my favorite anime of all time. Let's start with the not-so-typical-romance between the two main characters which I'm pretty sure any anime viewers who wants to step out from the safe romance side would like. A not so brave boy with a lot of pure luck and a simple overly obsess girl is not your typical anime couple. Side characters in the anime also have interesting side stories which also develops as the anime continues and can pretty much entertain those viewers whose not into the romance between the main characters. Plot wise it's actually a winner. It's all about having future diaries which tells different futures and how these people possessing future diaries will survive in a game they have no choice but to submit to. The anime is totally psychological with a hint of romance. The plot twists are very unpredictable and somewhat mind boggling. I think this anime paved the way for Yanderes, their twisted personalities and how they face unrequited love.

A very good anime indeed, Mirai Nikki presents us with Yukiteru Amano who has a phone that can predict the future along with Yuno Gasai as they survive and decide who'll be the next successor of Deus Ex Machina..

8/10

Hellloooo! (I hope I'm putting this post in the right category!)
Tonight, I will start watching My Hero Academia.
I thought it would be fun if anybody else is still in the beginning of the series, that we have some place to talk about it while we are watching it? (I never used a forum before maybe thats more of a chat/discord kind of topic idk)
Anyways, it would be fun to talk about our impressions with someone who is also experiencing MHA for the first time!

      Senki Zesshou Symphogear

This is one of Japan's top selling anime, with 5 seasons, over the course of the past 7 years. Season 3 was #1 in sales for its season, while season 4 was ALSO #1 in sales for its season. AND season 3 beat ONE PUNCH MAN for the ENTIRE YEAR. And it isn't popular in the absolute bloody slightest outside of Japan.

      I'm confused too, don't worry.

But if you want one of the best hype action shows of the decade, Symphogear is for you. It does damn near everything that people love about shounen action shows, except it does them far better than most actual shounens, despite Symphogear not actually being a shounen.

AND it's a fucking musical. Didn't see that coming, did you.

It ain't cutesy, it lives off of the rule of cool and more or less can't go more than 5 minutes without something exploding or it dies, with music that's about as cool as that whole concept is.

Watch this scene, and witness our beloved main character parry tank shells with her bare fists.

      Watch Order:
Symphogear (a bit rough, don't judge the show based on this season. Still good, just not peak Symphogear.)
Symphogear G (This is where Symphogear actually starts to shine, and it stays that way. A shitty side studio fucked up the first season, so they fired them and swapped out 90% of the staff and you're left with a season that's vastly superior to the first in absolutely every god damn way you could ever expect. Get. To. This. Season.)
Symphogear GX (It got even prettier.)
Symphogear AXZ (The animation got better.)
Symphogear XV (Airing right now, and is really turning out to be a proper culmination and finale of 7 years of a franchise.)

      OOOOO

Now that you've been so heartily informed of the best show ever, I'd love to hear what any of you think of it. First impressions based on this thread maybe, or impressions from you going to watch it! It's my favourite show by a mile, so I assure you I'm more than willing to chat your ear off about it, and if you aren't impressed by it... well, leave it to me

I hope I'm doing this right :3 Just finished Hakuouki Movie 1, and wow! It was pretty darn good! Now I want to see the series it's based off of! And the other films.

I won't got into to much detail until the discussion starts, but I really liked characters. I also thought the atmosphere was really well developed! The pacing wasn't too slow, or too fast, so it was pretty easy to follow what was going on (though, the large cast made it a bit hard for me to remember everyone's names XD)
Did anyone else have a chance to watch it today? What are your thoughts?
