Every Weekend??

I normally don't post work related things, ever but I'm honestly getting rung out from this job. I love it, don't get me wrong however the deal was was that I get every other weekend off but now after 6 months of being there I haven't had a weekend off in over a month. I've just about had it and I'm so tempted to start putting in applications at various other places. 😒

I don't have time with my husband anymore after this started because he works nights and has been putting in some major overtime. So during the day when I'm at work he's at home sleeping but then he's gone before I get home. We can't even get anything done because I'm at work every weekend... I've already said the reason I left my one job years ago was because of this very same reason and the manager understood. Now I'm having the issue here. Like I said, I love my job but it's like whatever I say now goes out the window and I just can't do it. I'm 25, my husband is going on 28 next month. We want to start a family but how can we when I'm constantly gone??

Can totally relate with you, Envy.  Going through the exact same thing at my job with OT.  I'd really recommend start putting in applications elsewhere as it can't hurt (especially looking for part time or remote jobs if you're going to be a mother soon).  Checking company reviews and such on Indeed (and/or other similar sites) is also a good idea if you're ever unsure of a certain company with a good job offer.  I will say though, job hunting in this market is exhausting and kinda depressing too (as no one really seems to know what they are looking for).  But if it's for making your quality of life better in the long run, it's definitely worth at least trying.  Here's hoping that something new comes up for you, or perhaps even your current job becoming less demanding.

In my job market you would only have a 3% chance of getting an interview, so try not to quit unless you can get by on just your husband's salary alone.  Start revising your resume and making your cover letter look good and apply to everything you see.

I will say, this happened to a coworker once.  They made him work every weekend for 3 months.  He saved up his schedules and approached them about it and they pretended to be shocked it had slipped by.  It was obvious (and honestly, I expect that kind of crappy treatment from that group of people) that they were doing it to try to force him to quit.  Making the job undesirable to a fault.

He did eventually quit, got a job working at a place that did maybe an 8th of what he was expected to do there, got the part time hours he wanted at a higher hourly pay, and is living the dream retirement life that he always wanted, no weekends at all.  I'm jealous truth be told LOL.

Oh god no I won't quit until I have a guarantee job at another place. I made the dumb mistake of doing that once and I don't plan on repeating myself, lol. Anyway, the manager of a past job wants me back and it's looking better and better but I still don't want to leave just yet honestly. I'm thinking about just biting the bullet and wait it out, then think about going onto school just so I can get the hell outta there.

@EnviousEnvy

So your saying you work 7 days a week and only get a weekend off time to time.

This is very shocking for me. How do you relax and chill. Hang out with people. Don’t you feel stress for  working so much.

I could not live like that.

I used to work full time in a private office and if I didn’t get at least 3 days off a week I would threat to leave. I couldn’t last a week without atleast 3 days off. I can’t imagine how you deal with not even having a day off.

I would certainly loose my mind.

@Part_time_anime No I normally get like a day off in the middle of the week but haven't had any weekends off in over a month. However I'm f*cking dead a** tired when I get that day off and all I do is sleep.
