drill
Earlier this year, I attended the Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival, and while I was there, I tried out some taiyaki. It was decent, but when I got home, I added some whip cream to the leftovers, and it tasted really good. I've also have been to a Japanese restaurant where they actually make the food in front of you (which is really cool), and their seasoned shrimp was really good. Don't know if either of those count, but it will be the closest I will get until I eventually visit Japan.
ssjup81
Takoyaki with whipped cream? I just couldn't imagine that combination. lol Edit: Taiyaki! My mistake, I misread Taiyaki as Takoyaki. The curse of being too lazy to clean my glasses. lol Okay, never mind all that. I've had Taiyaki before...forgot what the filling was for it. I know it wasn't azuki or whatever. Too sweet for me. Maybe it was custard or something. It was good, though. Hm, some Japanese foods I really like are: Sukiyaki Imoni (this is a regional dish, though, for the area I live in) Natto Miso Ramen Chashu Miso Ramen Miso Ramen in general (lol) Okonomiyaki Shabushabu Sushi Hayashi Rice Japanese-style curry And some others...but for absolute favorite...probably Sukiyaki. Well, sushi isn't really about the fish, but if I'm not mistaken, mostly it's about the fact that it's prepared with vinegared rice. The ingredients can range from fish to chicken to only veggies. I've had chashu sushi prepared with mayo and onion before. Nigiri style. So yeah, there are other varieties and ingredients used other than fish. The ingredients can range from fish to chicken to only veggies. True true. My comment was more geared towards back home, in Australia many Sushi takeaway shops here often use Salmon and Tuna, which is something I have to be careful of. I've had chashu sushi prepared with mayo and onion before. Nigiri style. I do regret not trying more of the different regional Japanese food specialities during my last visit, oh well always next time.
Seacliff
Taiyaki is good, but in anime they make it seem like you can wolf down 50 in a few minutes... it's not THAT good. I wounder what it would taste like if you fill it with chocolate, the only ones I had were filled with Red Bean Paste.
Yuuki_Radosian
This is gonna sound so cliche' but my favorites are Veg-Sushi Tempura Onigiri (Salted but I don't mind fillings) I love soft flavors and I love Rice , Pasta and Potato I could eat them plain for a year straight. EmperorQinmon
Japanese Food? Definitely Teriyaki! x3 NOM NOM NOM~! Living here in Thailand, one of the many asian foods I have grown up on is Teriyaki. It's this delicious soysauce stir-fry with meat, carrots, greens, and onions over rice. It really is the best! Juliko
My college had a little Japanese festival, though it could hardly be called a festival, and they had gyoza. I really liked it! Plus one of my friends let me eat her tofu filled miso soup and I loved it! I also really like taiyaki, though I've only had it once.

Mentat
I really enjoy Udon. I'm not the biggest Japanese food guy though, since I don't really like seafood.

I'm not the biggest Japanese food guy though, since I don't really like seafood. There's more to Japanese food than seafood. Yes, there are a lot of seafood dishes, but the main food that seems to be consumed is rice (like most of Asia). That aside, pork and chicken are consumed a lot. Runter
Too many to list but amongst the weirder things... Takoyaki (octopus meat fried in a ball of dough) Naato (stinky fermented soy beans) OChazayuki (seaweed and seasonings in a packet, shaken over rice, then pour ocha over it - usually comes in Nori, Umeboshi or sour plum, and salmon flavors)

Kohloo
Gyoza, ton katsu, okonomiyaki, yakitori, vegetable tempura, and there's more but I can't remember what. Most of the stuff I've tried from this place, Ki Sushi. I haven't been there in a few years, I'd love to go again though! http://www.kisushi.ca/
zoop
okonomiyaki I really want to try that at some point! vegetable tempura Much better than I would have ever expected, to be honest! Combine that with some shrimp tempura and I'm just on cloud nine. Beyond that, I'm also a nut for various types of sushi and yakisoba... and a good bowl of ramen makes my heart melt.
