Glad you brought up the topic! I took a Japanese gender and sexuality course while attending Kansai Gaidai last year, and it was pretty eye opening! We talked about the korean women who suffered under the Japanese 'comfort woman' system during WW2, current lesbian and gay lifestyles/lack of visibility, and general sexual education students in japan receive (or the lack thereof). It was really shocking to me when we discussed just how much women there lack agency when entering in and maintaining relationships. Some female japanese dormmates were also in the class but were often silent. When discussing contraceptives though they shared how little they really knew or were taught about by family and school. One girl who was close to me was shocked that so many of us use and promote the pill, (somewhere like 5% or less use it in Japan), because her mother told her that if you ever take it you can NEVER have kids again. (i felt bad for her, we set her straight) Fun fact: The pill was banned until 1999 in Japan (that's 50 years later than the US) Women are also expected to just allow men to decide whether to use condoms or not, and to never contradict their decision. Yeah....no that would never fly with me. Wish i would still take those courses D: (Sorry if this was so wordy all!!)3 points

Hi guys, gals, nekos, androids and various other carbon and none carbon based life forms. I was wondering how Anime/Manga is to YOU? For me it has been very important even with all the stigma that us fans get labelled with. I've never grown up with friends or a loving supportive family. I was and still am I guess bullied my whole life. I suffer allot from depression, anxiety, self harm and have tried to commit suicide 3 times. But with Anime I do have friends, I know they aren't real, but my heart doesn't feel that way. If ever I feel down I can use my over active imagination to talk to these characters that have curled up in my heart and feel warmth, happiness and company. does anyone understand what I mean, or am I just insane?1 point

You can call me Perry. I'm a 24 year old guy and I've been in love with anime and Japanese music since the yearly 2000s. Anyways, So the reason I'm here is because this site looks amazing and it reminds me of the days when I used to be in anime forum sites back in 2008. And then, as you know, fb happened and till present day its been dominating the internet. But I'm an old school guy who prefers the classic style so I'm really happy that i could find this site and I'm looking forward to meeting new people. As far as my interest in anime genre, I prefer Shonen, slice of life and romantic comedy. Ajin is at present my fav anime which has ended few weeks back.1 point

Your reasoning isn't even stupid. Orochimaru's face creeped me out too. However, I will keep the part with Itachi in mind. You're right somehow.1 point

KonoSuba, we're back for Season 2! And what better way to start with a Star Wars style ticker that summarised moments of Season 1 and then leading up to Kazuma being wrongfully thrown in prison instead of continuing his adventure. There were just so many ridiculously funny moments I would simply be recapping the episode if I listed them all here. My two most favourite scenes though were: 1. Aqua trying to get Kazuma out of prison. TWICE. The useless wire against the combination lock and the hacksaw without the wooden box. 2. That magical lie detector that forced Kazuma to confess his true (somewhat selfish) ambitions for wanting to become an adventurer: KonoSuba will continue to give me my spontaneous comedy fix, even if the character personality jokes are getting a little old, their expressions and ridiculous scenarios always gives a good laugh. Also that dramatic ending scene where Kazuma's assets were seized. Poor Aqua, her booze is gone. [FLOAT_RIGHT][/FLOAT_RIGHT]7/10 For making me laugh so hard. Especially Aqua. And Kazuma. What did you think of this episode?1 point

I watched this with a group of friends the first time I saw it. I was just suddenly pulled into it without having any idea what it was. But then, I'll watch practically anything if it's with other people. Not only did I highly enjoy it regardless, we were also a bit of a hyper group and getting totally into it. So it was like....hype all over the place. It's a great movie and even better to watch with friends. After I saw it, I went out and bought the blu-ray1 point

BUMP---- So, I streamed this tonight. Bakemono no Ko goes on my top list for animated films. First impressions- So, someone sent me the MAL link, and I'm not going to lie, I only half read about it and said "HEY, I'LL WATCH IT," so I literally had NO expectations for this film. Which may have helped over all, but either way. My first impressions were that I absolutely loved the expressions on Ren's (Kyuuta's) face. The artwork was pleasant to me, animation was decent. The only thing that made me iffy was that I was mildly confused, because again, did not read up on it at all. Hahaha. Final impressions- This movie made me do so many things. Laugh. Cry. Hate life. All in all, things I look for in a film. If something can make me FEEL, then I am content in the overall quality. (AND THAT ENDING. COME ON....FEELS CENTRAL) All in all, I also enjoyed the concept very nicely! You can definitely see the internal struggles that Ren has to go through, especially near the middle of the film. I was also internally struggling. :'( And I also enjoyed the father/son relationship between Kumatestu and Ren (Kyuuta). I will not post any spoilers, as I feel like everyone should try and give this one a shot! Overall rating: 9/10!1 point

Ah, well I did have a small look through but then I saw how many posts that twitter account makes a day... so I can see your problem there. Send him a tweet asking, or redirecting to this forum page. Also, is there any other accounts you might have signed up with that use the image? Even if it's been converted into an icon, you can work up from that.1 point

I would have to agree with Davis on this one. I don't find Itachi to be evil at all. The one thing I absolutely love about Itachi, is the fact that he really is neither "good" or "evil." Even us as real people, sometimes have to make decisions and take action on things that seem cruel or unjust, but really are for a greater cause. So, I think in that aspect, they portrayed his character more human than most others in the series. Not all things have to be black and white. There is a gray middle where things can be questionable. And I think that's where Itachi lies. As far as my most hated villain. My reasoning is stupid. Orochimaru. I JUST HATE HIS FACE. Literally, ever since I was younger he just creeped me out. There is my reasoning. Take it or leave it. :trololololol: Now, if you were asking me my favorite "villain".... He's my favorite thing to look at in this series.1 point

I think I'm a morning person and night person... Likely not an afternoon person at all. I rarely wake up early, but I love it when I do! It feels wonderful, especially in spring or summer~ Well I like the sun too! Except when it gets in my eyes, or shines on my screen. I think the sun should start wearing sunglasses...1 point
