  2. Hey, I'm Mint and I'm also new and would like to meet and talk with some new people that would have the same interests as me

  3. Not British myself, but there should be a few, one I suspect because of their username, but I do not know for sure.

  4. I actually 'made' myself get sick, so I had to not go to school. Which is a lot worse. Because I disliked school that much. And that was the only way I couldn't go. : / (desperate times, desperate measures I suppose?)

  5. Regardless of political standing, we are talking about the free internet being in jeopardy. If anyone doesn't want the internet to lose that, here's a place you can go to fight it: https://www.battleforthenet.com/july12/ and here's some info about it: https://netneutrality.internetassociation.org/action/

  6. Ahh, Visual Novels. Honestly, I feel in love with them, and they might as well be my favorite medium at the moment. It's like a perfect fusion between anime and manga. My favorite one is Dies Irae. My first one was Saya no Uta. I didn't know anything about Visual Novels back then, so the sexual content caught me QUITE off guard. Was pretty messed up stuff, but I liked it nonetheless. I thought the characters were a bit meh, but it was some serious edge-of-my-seat-stuff nonetheless. A few months later, I bought Higurashi on Steam. Loved it. Well, and now I'm here. I'm currently reading Zombie no Afureta Sekai de Ore Dake ga Osowarenai and Zanjibaru. Although it's anything but bad, I put the latter on-hold for now. After finishing Zombie no blahblah, I'm probably going to start the motherf*cker I've been dying to read for almost a year now - Subarashiki Hibi.

  8. I'd go with 9. I've always had a few people I talked to, even at school, and I've very rarely been hated by anyone. Yet I really have no real connection to anyone, beyond a penpal who hasn't been able to to to me in months, and I don't mention my interests to anyone beyond my penpal. None of them are interested in that sort of stuff.

  9. It's also worth pointing out that sometimes the setting of an anime can be ruined by Japanese voices. Whoever heard of a German born and raised character speaking Japanese as a first language who isn't actually Japanese. At least English is spoken in Germany as a second language when needed. At least some of the time. Or for that matter, an alien from a planet destroyed by another alien, who didn't even meet earthlings until he tried to kill them all. Also, I mean, come on, Alucard, really who buys into that. Sometimes people speaking in Japanese goes too far against the setting they are placed in and little to nothing is done about it to try and make it convincing.

  11. What are the things that cause you to raise your estimation of someone? I don't mean the things that impress you. Nearly anyone can be impressed by anything. I'm talking about the things that IMPRESS you. Capslock, underline, italics, bold impress. Things that force you to think of someone in a better light. For me - Acts of tremendous kindness, for the fuck of it. It's way too easy to just go on, every single day, living the same way without acknowledging others. I think it's important for people to give forward. Getting the shit kicked out of you and getting back up. Toughness is a virtue to me. There aren't many that I respect more. Someone that can fall apart and put themselves back together, emotionally or physically, I have a lot of respect for the simple ability that some people have to keep standing back up. Creativity. It can be writing, it can be talking, it can be reviewing, it can be anything. I just respect people that can be creative in any way form or fashion. What about you?

  12. Wouldn't it be cool to be able to pick what you want your Waifu or Husbando to say? I think it could be added into the AF shop, you buy it and then you write out whatever you want them to greet you with; Some character's don't fit the greeting option's we have so far. Who thinks this would be a good thing added to the store?

  13. The other day, a certain thought happened to cross my mind (yes, while I was taking a shower ) which made me wanna ask how otakus in your country behave as well as how they are viewed by society. Here in Greece, otakus are not the shut-ins that are usually seen in anime. In fact they, more often than not, act completely normal, have lots of friends, socialise a lot etc (and they don't hide the fact that they like anime most of the time). This applies to both teens and adults. 99% of the otakus I've met are actually just as normal as everyone else (no, I'm not included). A great example is my brother. He likes watching anime (although not as much as I do ) and is a semi-hardcore gamer but still, he's very popular and you'll often see him at some party with his friends on Saturday nights. He also manages to have really good grades...somehow... ._. (it's actually kinda amazing how he does this). To be honest, while I'm somewhat closer to how the stereotype otaku is depicted, I'm more like the odd one out among the other otakus here. Seriously... This is probably why otakus are not viewed negatively by the majority of non-otakus. I've never been shy about admiting I watch anime and the reactions I get are usually indifference instead of negativity. There are those, however, who consider anime a piece of trash but again, they are mature enough to state their opinion politely, limitting themselves to a simple 'it's just not my cup of tea'. In all my life, I've never seen anyone being laughed at just because they watch anime. It's something that most people brush off as unimportant. There have been cases when one is talking s**t about anime but it's directed to anime, not the person who watches it (for example: "I hate anime cause all the characters look the same and they have these stupid big eyes and make all kinds of weird expressions). This is pretty much the situation with otakus. Even I, who spends as much time as possible in soltitude, have frends and talk with people (in class only but still... ). In the end, it's not so much of a big deal as it is for the Japanese, apparently.

  14. I have seen it around. But not too sure about its entertainment value. I do have my nit picks, about certain series I will watch. I say give the first episode a go and see what you think of it.

  15. The ending to samurai champloo. It was just 'dumb'. Considering how fantastic the series was up until that point. [spoiler=ending]Then it all built upon a lie, to find out much later. Talk about a childish and idiotic ending.... It would have been a perfect series if not for that.

  16. My twin brother! He has always been there for me when I needed him. We had our fights when we were younger and now not so much. He is not only my mentor, but my friend and inspiration. We also have pet names for each other, for being so close.

  26. Huh ... well, the addition of new characters probably bodes well for the series - the existing batch was getting really stale in my opinion. I wanted to love them, but questionable - imo - writing made that really hard. Here's hoping that the series takes enough of a positive swing to motivate Cy~ and I to resume it. I still want to love it.

  27. Oh boy. Dropped it, this show is abysmal. The whole setting is ridiculous in itself. A school where your whole future is based on gambling? And everyone just goes with it? Great, really. I also don't get why people deem this a psychological anime. What exactly is so psychological about it? Is it because seemingly every single character seems to have some serious mental issues? The visuals for the opening are lovely though, I'll give it that. Also, the girls are thicc, would not not fap.

  28. 3-4, I'd say. I go along well with almost everyone I meet, and I barely have any enemies. People also seem to like me. Well, I get that impression at least. The reason I don't score myself higher(?) is because I actually prefer being by myself, having it quiet. When I happen to meet one of my friends, I usually end up going for a drink with them or so, but I hardly ever do something with them of my own accord.

  37. Forums for me. Personally I cannot stand chatrooms. It's much too personal and isolated for my liking. Besides that, everyone wants you to do voice calls every now and then. That doesn't really sit well with me. Given in the past, folks have tried making me talk on there, which is bloody annoying and not to mention disrespectful. At least with forums there is an aura of freedom to be had. Chatrooms you don't really get that acquired freedom.

  41. I completely agree with this. Of course, I was going to add it my own post as a reply to the person you quoted saying that subtitles can have issues that dubs do not, but I may have said that earlier in the thread.

  42. Spoilers ahead (obviously) but if you haven't watched it, you should watch it, and then come back to this thread. Wow! What a first episode! First off, I am in love with the opening. Very catchy stuff. It definitely started off slow. I had the totally wrong impression of the MC at first. He seems quite shy (which I guess he really is), but ultimately at the end of the day he showed another side to himself later on. But what really surprised me was Misaki's answer to Yuusuke's confession. I haven't read the source material but initial impressions from the little bit of Lilina that we did see here... Idk I feel like she is going to be a character that we hate at first but eventually becomes a tsundere all too typical for this genre... or any genre... Would be nice to see the trope deconstructed here. Really early on but so far I optimistically give it 4/5 stars... I liked it. Time will tell how it stacks up to other romance anime, and also to the other anime airing this season. What did you guys think?

  43. I only get Pizza every 3-4 weeks, having said that I think Pizza Hut is pretty good! More expensive but better than Dominos in my opinion. Here in Australia, Dominos has the biggest market share in sales, followed by Pizza Hut. There used to be another smaller chain called Eagle Boys Pizza but they were bought out by Pizza Hut... I'm not sure how it works in the US, but here many of the pizza chains are franchised and well when Dominoes is pushing out $5 cheaper Tuesdays, it really digs into the profit margin for all the chains. I remember reading about stories from disgruntled franchisees not getting enough marketing support to offset that. Interestingly, I noticed independent stores and gourmet pizza chains such as Crust who charge $20+ per Pizza for premium toppings like duck and veal seem to be doing quite well. So it seems people here are willing to pay more for a really good pizza.

  45. People who are good to servers, retail workers, other people in general. So often I see people b****ing out the simple worker because "the customer is always right". But what I see the most is people who don't use their please and thank yous or don't really acknowledge the worker as a human. When I see someone who is nice to workers, asking how their day ism being polite and using please and thank yous, I earn a TON of respect for that person. To me, a person is only as good as they treat the people who serve them, so people who treat those very well are good people in my book.

  47. I don't have a site of my own at the moment, and I probably won't have one of my own until sometime late next year. I'm on a looooong (and enjoyable, so far) vacation from any of that stuff. With that said, I prefer a good CMS to static site generators. A static site generator was one of the first things that I ever put together. It's really cool to use, but I actually prefer to use something that is database driven and wires into some kind of community platform, these days. If I ever make a personal blog, again, though, then I will definitely code my own SSG. I actually think that SSGs are pretty fun to make, since it's not too hard and you can do some very thoughtful things with cataloging and parsing your write-ups.

  48. I have to say, that'd be hard if it weren't for the start of Shippuden, which is honestly, horrible. I know it may seem unfair to make my choice based on how the show started but seriously, it's really bad. I mean, how many episodes did it take for Gaara to show up, lose a fight, get killed, get revived, and go home, because that's basically all that happens that matters in that arc. Making a powerful puppet master, only to kill him before arc's end, doesn't make it important to the story. The answer to that question I asked by the way, is 32. That's 8 months of weekly episodes to get one plot point and some basic information through that could have been handled in less than 16. By episode 32 of Naruto, they are already in the Chunin exams, Sakura is trying to defend Naruto and Sasuke from sound Ninja, and just in general, a lot more happened. It wouldn't bother me as much that it took that long for that arc, but that arc set the pace for the entire show, which was, incredibly sluggish to say the least, and it probably was so because they got away with dragging on one short arc for 3/4's of a year. The pacing of Shippuden was just, really, really bad, and while one could argue that Naruto had too many fillers, I don't mind it. Without those fillers, the characters from Naruto wouldn't have had the impact they do because I wouldn't have known them as well. Sure, they all pretty much told the same story, but they did with it different characters so you got to know them all, so that when characters like Neji die, it means more than it would have otherwise. Naruto has a portion that is a low note, Shippuden has huge chucks of low notes to try and make the high notes seem like they have more impact and if I hadn't been watching anime for over 15 years by the time that really set in, I might have been okay with it, but I did and, I'm not. Shippuden is okay, but there's no way it has even the slightest chance of being better than Naruto was.

  49. [FLOAT_RIGHT] [/FLOAT_RIGHT] K otherwise known as "K-Project" I really enjoyed this series , the art style , animation and the use of colour throughout the series made it memorable and the story was great as well . The story will grip you and take you on a wild ride and amaze you , especially near the end. The only POTENTIAL down side to this anime is the use of colour throughout , as the theme of colours is very important to the series. This may put some people off of the anime .The anime has a sort of coloured tint to it which is different depending on which King or which kings subordinates are on screen. some examples:
