  2. I do not work in the homes thankfully, but I provide services for them. My specialty is geriatrics so... yeah, I get the full view regardless of whether I am physically present or not.

  3. There are different types of homes actually woth different levels of care. There are retirement communities which provide independent living for residents with some minor caretaker activities (usually weekly checkups by staff in case of falls or merely meal delivery). Then there are more Assisted Living options which still give some independence with greater caretaking needs (might have staff present to help with more activities of daily living). Then there are rest homes where people who may need even greater care reside (typically these individuals have all their medical needs taken care of by the home including medications, doctor visits, and so forth. They may be mobile but they are living in the facility). Then there are skilled nursing facilities, which generally take care of individuals who have a great need of medical care, often almost hospital like for around the clock care. Working in Long Term Care I can confirm that it varies from home to home what quality you will get. Some are roach motels with the admin and nursing staff smoking weed in the breakrooms and patients living in their filth without even baths. Others are very clean with excellent, attentive and caring staff. Do your research and visit the place before you pick one. Many times, the basic nursing assistant staff are not high school graduates and make mistakes in administration of medication (or they view the patients meds as everyone's meds so Mr Smith who paid for his blood pressure meds might be short at the end of the month because they gave his meds to Ms Mae down the hall whose doctor never wrote her an order to refill hers and now they are both out of meds even though he had an order and paid for his). It is not perfect but most families cannot give the level of care and supervision the patients in most of these homes require.

  4. Yes, this function does exist. However if you are running on a mobile phone or using a mobile browser, you may not be able to see it. First you will need to change your browser to a desk top site browser. This is usually in the settings area of your browser if you are on a mobile phone. After that you should be able to see the option to mark the entire site as read or to jump to unread content in the bottom right side of the browser. Hope this helps!

  5. Not all retirement homes are bad of course, but there are a fair number that are negligent and even abusive. If someone were just sort of dropped off, and not checked on, the remainder of their life could be miserable. It could also just be a deception and retirement homes are the best thing ever, but old people want all the fun to themselves~

  6. I've never been to a retirement home. Are they really as bad as people say? I mean it really is great if people have others who can look after them, but seeing that many do not, I think society should care quite a lot about improving retirement homes.

  8. Am I the only degenerate who likes alcohol~? I love red wine, a close second is Fireball whiskey~ Out of non-alcoholic things, coffee is my favorite and as for something to drink that actually hydrates me, just plain water~

  9. Frankly it's terrifying for me. I have a lot of hereditary medical issues which only get worse with age. The idea of being unable to feed myself let alone use a phone or computer is nightmare fuel for me. At least I have a niece who I guess you could say looks up to me so she will probably not let me get thrown into a home straight away~

  10. Got a contract to put up a space station in KSP! This one cost about double what the contract paid once you take into account the launch, but it is overbuilt so that I can use it for other things, including future contracts and science research. The contract only called for 5 kerbals, an antenna, a docking port, and some solar panels. This one has berths for 12, including 2 on a science research module. It also has vacuum-optimized engines so it is somewhat mobile, 6 attachment points (the circles around the middle just "below" the solar panels) for future expansion, and one of the service bays is only half-filled, so I can add more scientific instruments for the research module once I unlock some more of the tech tree. There's also *6* high-gain antennas for long-distance communications. If I wanted to I can take this thing all the way to Duna (Mars) once I get some more fuel capacity and some refining gear attached. Probably also some sort of auxiliary craft would be good so that I have something that can transport things like Kerbals and ore to & from the surface. This thing has pretty efficient engines, but the TWR is so low it will never be able to land on its own. Hopefully I can find some more contracts to help pay for all that!

  14. Hmm, getting older doesn't really bother me, I mean yea I don't want to die but say in 30-50 years I die Id be like "yea that's cool" because I live the way I want to with as few regrets as possible and doing everything I can to enjoy myself.

  15. I am close to my 30s but I had some people look at me funny when I tell them I like to watch anime or find a creative idea to humor myself.

  16. This is a general problem with the entertainment industry. Whether it be game, movie, tv show, books, or whatever, if a title is even slightly successful it gets reused. Old movies that worked get reboots. New movies get a sequel. TV shows get another season. Books get a second volume. Games get a new version, or maybe just DLC. Then if the sequel is successful they do it again. And again. And again. They do it until the story suffers and the original authors/actors/programmers are sick of it. But even then if it sells they do it again. And again. And again. And they keep doing it until the story is utterly destroyed and even the die-hard fans are so sick of the franchise they stop paying. Then, and only then, does the industrial promotion apparatus move on to the Next Big Thing. Lather, rinse, repeat.
