Let’s discuss this years most popular anime for AF! What’s YOUR pick for the top favorite of 2019? β€”β€”- The anime I’ve most enjoyed as of June, has been The Rising of the Shield hero (big surprise everyone). I love how the story is fulfilling the points that I’d been wanting to see for our hero and starting a new plot as they venture forth into the coming season. I’m very excited to see where things go from here. Never a dull moment in this anime.

Pretty blonde hair and fair eyes, she is mine Like a summer day, she glows like sunshine I'm lost in the blue of her eyes, so fine And her sun-kissed skin is just so divine Ocean in her eyes, still by the shoreline Unmoving in her beauty, walk the line Just as summer fades, seasons realign But she just goes untouched by the deadline Eternal summer, got me on cloud nine It's the very fabric of her design Watch as the sun sets over the skyline Perfect summer day got a new design And her eyes are the true dividing line Between eternal summer or snow line. (Don't know if summer related metaphors count but I gave it a shot.)

Disclosure: I am not a professional artist. I can draw, but not as good as I want to. I am a just a person who wants to get better at drawing. I started this series to share what I've learned so far in hopes of helping aspiring artists like me. There are a lot of drawing tutorials, videos, and courses out there. I'm pretty sure you've seen your share of them. And they are all amazing But I feel like most of these tutorials do not start with the basic step of learning to draw. The very first step you should do in your journey to become an artist. And that is to copy. I'm sure you want to be a great artist. But to be great, you have to be good first. It's a requirement. You can't skip going from bad to great. So don't worry about the "Great artists steal." part yet. (I might discuss that in a future tutorial). For now focus on, "Good artists copy". Now what do I mean by copy? I don't mean plagiarize. That's different. Plagiarism is copying someone else's work and pretending it's you who made it. That is bad and frowned upon. I'm talking about copying so you can learn. No artist is born with an already-defined style. You actually have to find your art style. And to find that style you copy from others. You look at artists before you and copy their style. This goes on and on until you stop copying and eventually mix everything together and generate your own unique art style. So the very first step in learning how to draw, is to copy the drawings from your favorite artist, art style, or anime. Find images online, bring out a pencil and paper, and copy that image the best you can. But as you do, try to observe certain things. Why are the eyebrows drawn this way? Why are the eyes like this? Why is the hair this way? And so on. Copy so you can learn. As a kid I started out by copying Goku from Dragon Ball. I copied him so many times that I can draw him from memory. I also noticed things along the way. How Akira Toriyama drew eyebrows. How he drew eyes. And even how he drew muscular male bodies. Have you ever noticed how almost every muscular male character in Dragon Ball has the same body? πŸ˜„ In closing, don't worry about anything else if you're a newbie at drawing. Don't worry about what art supplies to buy or what software to use. Just focus first on copying. And no! don't trace it. (You won't learn hand and eye coordination by tracing) What was the first thing you did to learn how to draw? This is just from my experience. And there is more than one way to do something.

First I didn't think I would participate cause I don't like creating my own stuff but since there's not a rule saying redrawing Isn't allowed I decided I just draw something for fun 😜 (I Don't care If I get disqualified for redrawing this pose 😜 I just did It for funzies) So I just finished It but I had to rush to be able to complete It In time. Background Is a bit messy, Trees are very simplistic, Coloring Is all over the place, And I drew It on an A3 so I couldn't scan It In so I had to edit It so the color saturation wouldn't go down as much but Its disappointing. To make things worse I didn't have the right Brown so the hair Looks very light on 1 side and very dark on the other side Uraraka from My Hero Academia I'm just happy that I finished It cause I haven't been drawing for some time. This Is an original character

If you could pick an anime world to live in which one would it be and why? I think for me it would be either the Naruto world or the DBZ Universe. I think being a ninja would be kinda fun and having the ability to do some convenient jutsu's. I think I would have to use shadow clones to go to work for me some days lol. Same reason for the DBZ universe, having certain abilities to do things would be very nice plus having a friend like Goku could be fun ;D

Hello everyone, hope you are having a great 2019 and enjoying all of the new anime. We’ve been working on a new event for AF and you guessed it! An art contest, much like the one we had in October, though this time, a few extras. Original Characters (OCs) will be welcome, and the only real creative stipulation being that the submission must be β€œSpring” themed, so let the cherry blossoms rain - yay for Spring! We are hoping to hold this contest for you all on April 28th and will be posting an official submissions thread for the event, so look out for it soon and get those creative juices flowing in the meantime.

When the Ocean Met the Sky Have you ever seen a sky so clear? Morning sun and clouds disappear Over the hills just to get here 'Bout a journeys worth of fear Written on the faces come near Too scared to touch the glass Too scared to think fast And when they come in last Nobody will remember the past For their names don't make the cast Have you ever seen the ocean such a dark blue? Sapphire and midnight, a magical hue Across the ocean just to find it next to you 'Bout a life's worth of fear cuts right through Your pounding heart that's already mildew Now you've become a god in a strange sort of way So now that you're here, they're about to pay Ignorance is no excuse, no, no excuse today Let's see how they feel when they're cast away Society looks down on the crimson lined tray You broke the mold and changed the clay Your name, blood red, on the cast of this play Poetry recited, eyes unblinking in the fray How beautifully you speak with eloquence on display A morning sky as blue as the ocean's waves Last thing they saw before going to their graves And in the night the waters come crashing from the caves No longer to be kept on hold, like unholy sapphire slaves Ocean met the sky, sundown Blood in the waves, might drown Crimson red rain, on the town Bloody one, wears the crown.

I identify as the sun. Ever since I was a young girl I dreamed of slamming hydrogen isotopes into each other to make helium and light and send it throughout the galaxy. People say to me that a person being a star is impossible and I'm being ridiculous but I don't care. I'm beautiful. I'm having a plastic surgeon inflate me with hydrogen and raise my temperature to over 6000 degrees C. From now on I want everyone to call me "Sol" and respect my right to give you vitamin D and probably sunburns. If you can't accept me you're a fusionphobe and need to check your astral priviledge. Thank you for being so understanding.

That actually does sound like a really fun option! That is somewhat why I chose the Naruto world, I like the bonds they created with their friends there, and having a friend like Naruto, or even Boruto depending on the timeline, would be a really amazing friend to have ^^ I like the Boruto time period a bit more than the original Naruto time period as well. The fact they have things like hand held games and computer is pretty awesome~

An example panel may be titled, "Horror Anime Throughout the 90s" and literally only discuss Horror Anime during that time period and may end up being a list of titles, trailers, and opinion commentary with questions at the end. Alternatively, it could be something like "The Rise of Isekai" and the panel originators might spend 20-30 minutes going over the history of Isekai (along with a definition of isekai), eary examples of Isekai and more recent Isekai and Isekai trends and then the last 30-90 minutes may end up being an outright discussion of the nuances of the genre, polling for favorite examples, an exploration of subgenres (trapped in a video game for instance) or even panel attendees and the panel originators debating over whether a particular anime qualifies for the genre (for instance, No Game No Life is Isekai but not Trapped in a Video Game (although it is sometimes mistaken for TiaVG)). Panels can be a great source of information (for instance, a Reverse Harem panel that lists reverse harem titles and describes them may be great if you are getting into the genre and wanting to watch and collect...you'd want to take notes of titles to look up later if you were into it). Then there are Industry Panels (Funimation, Sentai, and more may hold a Panel to discuss their new anime coming out that year and sometimes major announcements are made at these panels and even the option to purchase blurays before their release dates) and Voice Actor Panels (usually a Voice Actor will take questions from the audience attending about working VA in anime, how they started, their favorite anime, who've they've met through anime, etc). Sometimes you have a let down panel from an ill-prepared presenter and you realize 5 minutes in that it's only going to be five minutes with no discussion and you could have used your time to attend or do something better.... Panels are usually a great way to spend the day, especially if you are at a Con and have nothing planned for a few hours and aren't planning on purchasing stuff for awhile. You can sit in on a panel and learn something new. The best thing is that everyone at the panels are just as excited about anime as you are. Some panels are not suitable for children and may require confirmation that you are above a certain age limit to attend. There are usually also Artist Galleries where artists can sell their own fan-made wears for money (usually prints of artwork they've created, plushies they've made, and other cool things, usually these people have an Etsy shop or something similar) and then a separate Vendor Market (for Industry and Commercial sellers who sell merchandise like blurays/dvds, shirts, action figures, toys, keychains, etc). Some, probably most, also do showings of anime. They might have blocks set aside in an attached theater to show really old anime movies, or the first four episodes of a popular new anime, or even preview episodes of an anime that is expected to come out soon but hasn't been released in the US yet. Occasionally, they'll show English dubs but most of these tend to be subtitled. Then you have autograph signings from Anime celebrity voice actors, animators, and more too. There tends to also be Cosplay Contests, Dances, Music, Martial Arts demonstrations, classes on Japanese culture/language/how to make plushies/kanji/etc. Believe me, if you've never been to a con before, you will probably be stunned and dazed from the experience. When I took my best friend to her first con, she just kind of followed me around in a daze the entire weekend and was so happy I was there to plan everything out and guide her to the panels and activities. There's always multiple things going on, throngs of people and cosplay to wade through, and if you don't really try to plan your schedule, you'll look back on it later with many regrets at all you missed. --- As for me, I like the panels and the Artist Galleries. I love a good anime discussion and I've learned a lot going to panels, even stuff I didn't know anything about before. The quality of the panels can make or break a con experience for me.

I am intrigued by the idea of converting datacenter processing power into consumer gaming console hardware. Technically it is possible, but there's so many ways for it to go wrong, starting with the price of datacenter cores vs the price of gaming console cores. Gamers are used to paying about $300 for 8 cores (dual 4-core cpus), or about $35 per core in a PS4 or Xbox. Datacenters these days are mostly running Xeons, and those cost over $100 per core, or even more. For Stadia there will also have to be GPUs in the datacenters, so add a bit to that. Business users are willing to pay that because they're making money with the computing power. Will gamers? A Stadia console (the part that you plug in at home, or the app you run on your phone) will probably be pretty cheap. Maybe they'll even include it "free" with a subscription, like the lower-end phones on some cellphone plans. But I strongly suspect they'll more than make up for it with high subscription prices. I can't imagine the overall cost to the consumer being anything but very high. There's also some bad dynamics in terms of pay-to-play. I fully expect there to be "upper tier" subscriptions where people who are willing to pay more for their subscription get more cores assigned to "their" game console, and thus better gaming performance. You thought Candy Crush was bad? Just wait. Not all of it is bad though. If all they're doing is basically streaming results and all the actual interaction between the compute nodes happens in the datacenter then there's all sorts of intriguing options for things like MMORPGs, especially when you throw VR into the mix. Overall I'm looking forward to seeing how Stadia pans out. That said I have no intention of being among the first to sign up.
