  1. I don't mean to start this thread off in a sad way, but my childhood was a little rough. I was born with a crooked spine, so I had to wear leg braces. The other kids would always make fun of me. One time I was hanging out with my friend Jenny and some of those kids started heading towards us. I know they were going to mess with me, so I just took off as best as I could and somehow, as I was trying to run, the leg braces started to break/fall off. That was one of the best memories I have, because not only could I finally run, I could run pretty freakin fast. It was an amazing feeling.

  2. I feel like this year I've realised what's important to me and what I love the most in life and luckily I have enough time to go back on all the lost time I gave up on doing the stuff I love to focus on stuff that hasn't made me happy and only brought me down.

  3. They just don't want to accept that he's actually stronger than them even though by their reasoning he should be the weakest (to be fair I expected them to be freaked out and more than a little scared the first time they saw him in rage mode). Sword Hero appears to be a bit more open minded than the others but still kind of skeptical. Bow Hero just seems stubborn and not wanting to back down. Spear Hero though has developed a personal grudge against Naofumi and just keeps getting more resentful the more Naofumi succeeds (I have a feeling it's going to take him down a very dark path).

  5. That's not sad. It just means you're a survivor. Everyone has bullies. It's way too common as a kid. I don't believe anyone has a 100% great childhood. Even as a kid I had hella problems. But when I look back on mine I think I could've had it worse. I grew up in poverty. But poverty wasn't the defining feature of my childhood. I remember my really good moments. Or at least try too.

  6. That's good fortune then. I wouldn't play russian roulette to see how many times i could do that though. That's my individual choice. I'd kill them-KILL-them before i let that happen. Because i only have 1 person left to lose. And I couldn't afford to lose them trying to keep some random criminal alive who made themselves a threat in the first place.

  7. @Crevanille It’s not something I’m saying everyone should do. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t be able to pull off stopping a strong aggressor without killing them, but I myself have done so in the past, and could probably do it again in the future. Again, just speaking from my experience and perspective on MYSELF.

  15. Well just as Naofumis party is making him stronger and keeping him in check, Soear hero is being influenced by his party. He allows it, he should have been able to see through that princess by now, but his love of women is blinding him.

  20. @SanguineTear I see, so you mean something like someone who is willing to kill someone is probably not going to change (there actually was a famous philosopher who thought so too). Too bad you don't want to debate it, would have been interesting! Maybe we mean the same thing with what I said that it is a bit too simple. Moral parsimony, if it actually is moral parsimony, should not be based on any kind of social correctness (I'm not saying it is not used like that, just saying it should not). Rules like "the morally right thing to do is to always give white people an advantage" or "it is morally right to always maximize the amount of damage you can do to society" would be very parsimonious, even though many would not call it morally right. That's also what I mean with that the quiz is too simple, it probably doesn't factor in such rule (although I'm not sure it doesn't). So yeah, maybe they only factor in rules that kinda presuppose ideas like "killing is wrong" but I can't be sure. In some European countries, policemen are not allowed to kill an attacker if it is not necessary. They are only allowed to use the kind of force that is necessary in the given situation. Of course this is hard to judge especially when the attacker has a firearm etc. I do get the problem of putting your colleagues at risk but I suppose that is something that takes a lot of experience to judge correctly. (this doesn't refer to this debate specifically, just in general) I also want to add that in philosophy people are quite straightforward, so if someone has an opinion which someone else thinks is false or not well argued for, philosophers usually say so in exactly those words. Just making sure no one thinks that someone wants to offend someone else.

  21. @HanaApril In terms of learning swords in combat, or learning how a good place to get a feel for it is at honestly your local anime con. At seversl of the cons I attend there is a instructor that teaches a class on headlining swords as well as another course on martial arts for self defense.

  25. @Illusion of Terra I haven't been debating anything in the first place, nor do I want to. Just pointing out that violent criminals seldom change. You also seem to be taking this out of context. I want to emphasize I am talking about someone who is actively trying to kill you. Not rob, not rough up a little, but kill you. I am not worried about every criminal under the sun wanting revenge. I am worried about the very violent criminals who have no problem with killing people.

  29. Not what i meant. This quiz is about the choices that lead to your moral thinking. Multiple or lack thereof elements that influence your thoughts. What i'm saying is that moral parsimony in general is based on a certain level of social correctness. The makers of the quiz definitely took this into account in order to judge your choices. What other way would they judge that outfit without using social correctness as a base? They wouldn't need to make moral judgement on their own merit. You don't know that. In the military is standard knowledge that you shoot to kill. Attempting anything other than that puts your brother and sister in arms at risk. I'm no military man. But that's just standard protocol. It's a them or us mentality. If your willing to try to keep someone who is a threat to you alive in some twisted idea of hope you gamble with the lives of the people you care about. In the moment your number 1 concern would or at least should be the lives of those you swore to protect. An attempted rape? A murder? Your attacker is stronger? Believe me. If your attacker is stronger and you know there is only one course of action left your not gonna wanna see your best friend maimed in order to keep the attacker alive. Not in the moment. It's just not happening. That being said it's tough to be put in positions that don't leave any room for morality. But decisions like these are real. People who want to hold onto morality while making these choices are admirable-but not realistic. Only in fictional stories can heroes who have all the power truly save everyone in the world and heal everyone's pain. People aren't heroes. Not the all-encompassing kind. They're people. Fallible. You didn't but i get the impression you would. Would you? Maybe. Here it is though: The possibility of reform that so many people are willing to spare for a criminal life. I honestly get it. For what it's worth I don't consider this derailment. The purpose of this quiz is share your results and invoke conversation about morality. Kinda doing it's thing here.

  31. Oh yeah, I forgot about that The other heroes seem to think his curse/rage abilities are some sort of hack or cheat. And the slave trader commented on how his business was booming because people keep hoping to replicate the success Naofumi's had with Filo & Raphtalia. I'm afraid that this reputation of being a "cheater" is going to stick and keep him from the respect/gratitude he's due for most people. As for the real reasons, just have to keep watching and see I guess.

  32. My father and my uncles know a lot about guns and some other types of weapons when we watch those types of movies or see it on television. It's rather funny and also cool at the same time that they know that kinds stuff, so makes me think I would be in really good hands if something happened. Also I'm slowly training myself in sword and knife play for survival purposes. *owns 4 practice type swords so far*

  35. “There are many types of monsters that scare me: Monsters who cause trouble without showing themselves, monsters who abduct children, monsters who devour dreams, monsters who suck blood... and then, monsters who tell nothing but lies. Lying monsters are a real nuisance: They are much more cunning than others. They pose as humans even though they have no understanding of the human heart; they eat even though they've never experienced hunger; they study even though they have no interest in academics; they seek friendship even though they do not know how to love. If I were to encounter such monsters, I would likely be eaten by them... because in truth, I am that monster.” -L Lawliet "You often hurt the ones you get close with and care for." -Kohaku

  39. I love venison it is very yummy. I make deer jerkey from time to time. I am not into hunting though personally just not something I wish to do. I do however have no problem with people hunting for subsistence its a part of gunman culture, and once it was required to survive. I do nnot however support hunting for sport the idea of killing something for fun disgusts me. I do realize that a good portion of those kills are later sold to a meat market, but that dose not change the fact that someone is out there basically killing for fun.

  40. To be honest board games are a side hobby for me. I prefer RP like play by post games, or D&D if I being completely honest. I would say Vast, and its expansions are certainly not for a younger audience. It is a fairly complicated game. Also I will never grow up when it comes to my gaming/ retro cartoons, or even certain anime, No reason board games should be any different.

  43. Hello, wonderful ones! I'm just your friendly neighborhood alley cat. Nickname: Alley Tidbits: I'm a mother of a wonderful 5-year-old son and I am in my late twenties now. I've been a fan of anime since I was a toddler tbh and I'm okay with it. I'm not huge on anime/manga/video games as I use to be. It comes with age, but I'm still a kid at heart. I am down to earth, goofy as hell, and love adorable things.
