  1. I think a big part of Spear’s problem is he sees himself as the gallant hero rescuing damsels in distress and making them swoon. I think Myne picked up that he was particularly gullible in this respect and used it not only in her own false accusations but also in convincing him that Raphtalia, Filo & Melty were being forced/controlled by Naofumi. Granted pretty much all guys (including Naofumi) are subject to that, but Spear seems to have a particular weakness for it as well as flattery.

  2. @brycec This is becoming philosophical I can understand your reasoning and it seems quite rational, I still think that there are people which you should trust and not doubt even if they can betray you. In fact, I hold the position that you can only trust someone if they can betray you, but not everyone shares this notion. Anyway, in this particular case, while I still think Spear Hero is in a large degree to blame, there are at least some circumstances which make some of his actions more understandable.

  4. It’s common to leave shoes on here in the south.. which is odd considering how comfortable it is to actually go without shoes

  5. It's actually a mix of seinen elements and shounen. (the chimera arc for instance) Well, this is the conclusion I came to after watching through the whole series. Regardless of whether it's published in a shounen magazine or not. Oregairu is a masterpiece and I love Hikigaya as well. Especially the way he handle things like in the rooftop scene, if you know what I mean. Straightforward and Honest. As I said above, have fun watching them pal. I have also seen Akame ga Kill, it was a waste of time and wouldn't recommend to anyone.

  6. Back in 05-09 the seasonal releases were so small, as you said roughly 30 new anime, I wasn’t able to get into many new anime at the time, sometimes waiting years for a new anime that I actually wanted to watch. It seems that now that there are far more per season that I can get into. So I’m thankful for the change. Also wanted to point out that Dub has gotten far better for anime since the 90’s... I am watching Slam Dunk in dub right now and the voice actors are making it seem like half the characters are mentally challenged What could be cool (and I’m sure in Japanese it does sound cool, because I’ve watched anime so long I can tell by the sort of facial expressions the characters are making how they were meant to sound) just gets dubbed so poorly that it makes it REALLY lame. It’s funny to watch still, so I’m just going to keep it on. However, for most current dubs, I’m guessing voice actors are getting more seasoned, because they aren’t bad like this.

  7. So, photography is art to me. A lot of thought goes into taking a picture. Background, lighting, subject matter, angles, zoom, contrast... I also am interested in astrophotography but it will be quite a while before I can do any of that. Sadly, the only time I am able to use a good camera (and not my cellphone) is when I borrow my husband's expensive camera (a gift from me for his birthday one year). Thus, many of my good pictures are still very meh. Does anyone else here consider themselves an amateur photographer as far as art is concerned? I actually got some great pictures today of the island horses with his camera (was supposed to be conserving the battery for class photos...oops!). Maybe if I have time tonight I'll pull them off and post one or two.

  8. Might be kind of hard for me, since that is also where most of my capabilities reside. Plus, we, as humans, cannot really enjoy those simple things, even if we know it is important, because so much gets in the way in this cage we created for ourselves.

  9. Conversations tend to be more interesting that way anyway. Don’t you think? After all, it gets boring otherwise.

  10. I was going to pretty much say that is likely the case. Plus, things do not necessarily go together well, aside from French Canadian, though people would assume you are a resident of the French side of Canada, as opposed to being a French immigrant. Plus, we tend to celebrate our heritages here, which makes sense, because the US is a melting pot.

  11. My sister wants to be a photographer, she is saving up for like a $250 camera. Woah, those tree's are magnificent! They are just so whimsical, almost like their from a fantastical alien planet. Beautiful :'D

  12. I think you raise a good point here, though I would say it is important to doubt your own party members too. As humans, we do have difficulties doubting people we trust or think we can trust, and fall prey to thinking certain conclusions based on incomplete stats, but because your party can betray you, you must douby your fellow members. And yeah, Myne is wretched. Of course, that just makes me more excited for what supposedly happens to her.

  13. Yeah, that's true, their reactions at the start were not very wise. I also think they didn't take someone with a shield for a weapon seriously. Well, let's see if they learn from it, although in Spear Hero's case I wouldn't be so sure

  14. Just that, he did have multiple Opportunities to listen to the Shield hero.. who he should have sided with in the beginning based on their mutual bond as hero’s (IMO) if they didn’t have mistrust for each other as hero’s they would have never been divided this whole time. Granted, the accusations were very serious, but that doesn’t mean they should have ignored his plea of innocence even as there was no actual evidence of wrongdoing and they didn’t even do an investigation or character evaluation. By and large the ones who should get the most flack are those who accuse an innocent man

  15. @Seshi I'll have to argue on Spear Hero's behalf here, never thought I'd do that though Naofumi trusted Myne blindly and she betrayed him. However, Spear Hero could not have learned from that at that point in time, because Spear Hero thought that Myne never betrayed Naofumi but the other way around. Now, you can say that Spear Hero could have learned from (what he thought to be) Myne's mistake and blindly trust Naofumi which led to her being sexually assaulted. But then again he might not have had any reason to doubt Myne, who he simply took to be a victim of Naofumi. I still think his position was bit difficult. Distrust in a party is not advantageous, especially when you have to rely on each other in life and death situations. Still, like I said he should have listened to Naofumi's defense at multiple points in time. I think what we can all agree on, though, is that Myne was wretched through and through.

  16. So... spear hero did exactly what Naofumi did that ironically put him in the position he was in during the beginning of the show - trusting Myne, it’s ironic that spear hero would say all he did was trust his party members. Well that’s all Naofumi did too, and it got him framed. After that, he learned to think for himself. If the spear hero would listen to that - he’d realize that he was even more at fault, just like Naofumi said. He could have learned from others mistakes- but he trusted Myne over Naofumi.

  17. I watched a non commentated walk through for dk 64 I love that game not nearly as much as the earlier dk country games for snes though. For a n64 game, and collectathon as that genre is called its pretty good.

  18. The title pretty much says it. In what way do you think anime has changed? There are the obvious changes of the art styles getting different because of different technology and more people working on it. But I also think it has changed in quite a few other ways. Two things I've noticed is that in the last decade or so there seem to be more LGBT characters (or it is more accepted than in 80s/90s anime) and more fan-service for female viewers. Of course DBZ had a lot of guys without shirts, but I think that the main goal there was to show how strong they are, and not necessarily appeal to women. It also seems, but I might be wrong, that there seem to be more shorter anime than before? Maybe it's just that I forgot most of the short anime of before 2000 though. What have you noticed, and what do you think of this change?

  19. Technically all forms of media are a product of their time. Once upon time we relied on newspaper companies to deliver news, and now we relay on youtubers, or websites. Even Apple has a service now. Though one form of animation that is truly a product of its time is animation, and anime is by no means a exception to this rule. Things like culture, art styles, and even plot struture all change with the tome, or perhaps more accurately are aliened with the time period in which they are made. In the case of anime in particular I think overall attention span has shortened primarily for viewers. As a result we are now seeing much shorter series, and much more series releasing per season. The internet, and social media along with forums like this one certainly helped this, but it is just a product of our online culture. I think also now days quality has delectably decreased, but then that is largely a matter of opinion. It all comes down to what a individual likes. Overall I do think the anime world/fandom has become far better then it once was. There is also the fact that anime, and even JRPGs, and VNs have become far more excepted and mainstreamed in the west then they were even 5 years ago. I'd personally expect that to continue to grow. As such though that will influence anime, and manga to adept other aspects along with other cultures into their stories far more so then before. This is something we all should expect in the years to come.

  21. It's pretty much as @efaardvark said, though I'm pretty sure most everyone these days start by sticking thier phone up to the telescope lens trying to get a shot on thier phone for facebook. most bright sights, like lunar or large planet views can be captured on your phone that way, but for high quality photos, you need a way to mount your camera to your scope, an automated tracking mount for the scope, and a little bit of technical knowhow and patience. Still, most people I know started with a quick shot on their phone and got hooked

  22. I totally will. I'm planning to buy a couple of longer HDMI cables to actually make this work. I use the Sony VR which is fairly good, but let's face it, the cables that come with it are made for shorter people. If I get any closer to the camera, the camera won't callibrate right either so I'm just going to replace the cables with longer ones and I think I'll use my VR gear a lot more with that small change. So far, played through Loading Human (enjoyed it though the graphics are a bit primitive, like early PS2 graphics when you consider later PS2 graphics, still a good game to practice the controls) and Star Trek Bridge Crew (I need to recruit a crew to take on the Kobayashi Maru Challenge) and been using the VR charging station to charge my controller as the short cables pulled my head down constantly bothering my preexisting neck problems. I'm really looking forward to it. I've heard so many good things about Skyrim VR. I may be ruint after this lol... I really haven't set up a new area for VR. You really mostly sit or stand. You use the controllers to move around...which means I might be learning it new in Skyrim. >_> Anyways, I'll let you know how mind-blown I get.

  25. I've done some decent pictures of events such as transits (when one body passes in front of another) with my iPhone. Any camera that can take long exposures can take interesting photos of the night sky. The general problem though is that stars are small and dim. To collect enough photons you need exposures that are long enough that the star(s) that you are trying to take pictures of will move in the field of view unless you have some sort of tracking mount. To make the image big enough you'll need a telescope with enough magnification to zoom in to the level of detail you want to see. That's a pretty deep rabbit hole. If you just want pictures of large, bright objects like the sun or lunar craters then a small tabletop telescope and an adaptor for a regular camera might do the trick. If you want detailed, full color images of small, faint nebulae then you'll need a good telescope on a nice motorized equatorial mount at least. If you're really serious you'll probably want a dedicated CCD eyepiece connected to a computer instead of a separate camera as well, along with some star-tracking software that feeds back into the telescope mount's drive to minimize drift, and probably some other software to take a series of images from the CCD and merge them to enhance detail and color. Yeah, it can get expensive.
