  2. Crunchyroll had been adding a lot of older titles to their catalog the past couple weeks. One of their recent acquisitions was Kimagure Orange Road. I remember it being one of the “classic” titles people were talking about when I first got into anime on vhs. Also, Cosmo Warrior Zero appears to be another entry in the Leiji-verse. Added both to my bucketlist. I also remember watching Elemental Gelade (it was ok, but not anything special) https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2019/05/16-1/kimagure-orange-road-and-more-join-crunchyrolls-anime-catalog https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2019/05/15/crunchyroll-adds-eat-man-98-and-more-to-anime-catalog

  5. I don't know what sort of tone to go for, or if I'll be able to control the tone of the writing, since I've done very little creative writing. For now I'll just go with the flow, getting stuff on the page and posting it here to see where it stands. As to the parents, they should be strict, but after Osmond leaves they might change their approach to cater to him. Although if they realize how much he's learned, they might be better off trying to get rid of him as he'd be more of a rival to them than an asset. And I was thinking maybe the parents' relationship is rocky, which is why they can't take the Empyrean Flame themselves.

  6. The object of the game is to be the most offensive. How to play: Type “I hate” and then name something that you don’t like. The object is to hate something that most people would actually like. For instance: “I hate coffee” For all those deeply offended souls who can not survive without coffee, please hit the like button. Collecting the most liked offended term will make you the winner. Each time the game reaches a new page, the round starts over and there is a new winner.

  8. Sorry, instinctive disclaimer from making recommendations on other sites to less experienced anime aficionados. Going off on something of a tangent, there’s a currently airing sports drama called Mix: Meisei Story that definitely has an oldschool feel to it, both in it’s visual and storytelling style. Wasn’t sure about staying with it, but the nostalgic feels seem to be winning me over. It’s supposed to be something of a sequel to a series called Touch I wasn’t familiar with. Of course baseball in general gives me a sense of nostalgia. Funny thing is until recently sports anime was one of my least favorite genres.

  9. I may track down Kimagure. I saw some of it (quite) a while back, but not all. It was kind of long and what I saw of it wasn't really worth writing home about, but it was good enough that I'd be interested in going back to fill in the gaps and complete it. For closure if nothing else. I also see stuff like Inukami, which was pretty stupid, but fun nevertheless.

  10. Wish Plex allowed OPML exports of podcasts, so I could back them up, like RSS feeds can be. Oh well, I was able to get around things by writing a CLI generator in Swift that worked on Mac and Linux.

  11. That's a good idea. I think I have a better idea of what to do with the parents now. Don't worry about controlling the tone. I (or others) will probably end up editing it a few times anyway. We just need something that's out there and concrete so we can move forward with production.

  12. Yeah! Starting the rough draft would be great; I'll have the plot beats sorted out completely pretty soon. I would be good to know what type of 'voice' the actual writing will have. I like your idea for the parents background. I feel like now would be a good time to get a sort of natural plot dump from them. I was also wondering what they would be like personality wise. I would imagine them being very strict people but I feel like that might be to over done in a way. I like the idea of them using Osmond to make up for mistakes in the past. What do you think? A world building page would be good; we could start 4 separate google docs. one for world building another for character profiles Another for store draft and another for plot beats

  17. Should I take the plot beats and start writing a rough draft with what we have so far? And I was thinking the parents could be from an important family that at one point possessed the earth (or Gaian) Flame, but lost it when the young heir at the time abandoned their duties and betrayed their co-possessor of the Flame, greatly tarnishing the Clayborne's reputation.

  21. This isn’t one of those times, as a testimony to this particular anime, the story does get rounded out at the end of the season. I’ve watched it as a stand alone to tell you the truth.

  22. I can't speak to that anime specifically but I have had that sort of issue with quite a few other animes over the years. It seems to be hard for many animes to just tell a good story, reach a satisfactory ending, and go on to another topic. If the current season is popular - which is not necessarily the same thing as "good" from a story progression point of view - then there's a strong tendency to do more of the same and it gets boring. If the current season isn't popular then they often simply quit and leave it hanging instead of ending it properly. Sometimes an anime will intentionally leave the last episode in a "cliffhanger" state, which is really annoying if they don't actually ever get around to making/releasing another season. That kind of thing pretty much ruins the whole thing for me. As an artist, why even bother if you're not going to do it right? As a fan, that feels incredibly rude, like they just did it for the $$. Why? Why! ( ) I'm to the point now where I don't usually even start an anime if I know it is going to be a multi-season deal. I'm a binge-viewer who usually waits for the season's end anyway and I can always come back to it later if I hear it turned out well. In my experience it is unusual for an anime to get better as time goes on though. It is rare enough if a second season is better than the first, and I can count on my fingers the times when a 3rd season has been better than the second. All IMHO, YMMV, etc....

  23. Hey @KatakuriSama I’m excited to see you watching one of my favorite anime so I thought I’d weigh in so to speak. Though Makunouchi is no longer being bullied in school, that little tidbit is out of the way, and he’s focusing more on his future opponents. In the coming episodes you’ll see stories from different opponents - not sure what you’re looking for in terms of entertainment, I quite enjoy the learning process and watching Makunouchi grow stronger/ interact with the guys during training. The characters you’re about to be introduced to as Makunouchis opponents all have good background stories and gives some more depth to the series, as they will be expanded upon. Makunouchi also has a love interest (not sure how much you’ve seen of this plot detail, but things do get interesting there as well). If you’ve enjoyed watching this character grow and want to see him face new opponents, and begin his new life as a pro boxer, I’d say keep going. I enjoyed it til the end.
