  1. Hi, I'm a newbie here and I'm looking to find people who want to get along, exchange an interest in Amine and just maybe talk? I still do not know how this website works but maybe somebody will reply, haha. What is your favourite type of anime? What is your all time favourite MANGA? I watch anime for a long time. I'm not like a crazy obsessed fangirl but I truly love it. Sometimes I feel lost in the community, because I do not know all the meanings of some categories and tend to feel shy that I enjoy watching school themed romantic animes most of the time ( Maybe it is lame in this community?I do not know. What are your thoughts?) I have never found my place in the world but Anime really comforts me so I'm looking for some international friends

  2. Hey guys, what are some random aweful group names you've heard of, that make you think "what made them pick this name"? A few come to mind for me: "Limp Bizkit"- Sounds like you got something that you cure with a little blue pill.. "Hoobastank" - Need I say more? This ones too easy to make fun of. "Korn"

  5. I remember always thinking "Hoobastank" and "Limp Bizcut" as odd too. So is- "Toad the Wet Sprocket" "Paracoccidioidomicosisproctitissarcomucosis" - I think I got that right? Lol. Longest/weirdest one for me. "Smashing Pumpkins" "The The".

  10. Hello. I’m a long-time pegasister who’d like to get into anime as well. I’m totally new to the anime scene but thought this would be a good place to get a good head start in this fandom. Everyone tells me I should start with evangelion? Idk do you guys have any anime suggestions for someone new to the fandom? As for a little about myself....I’m a college student currently residing in the sunny state of Florida, USA. I love animals so I am pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. I also love music, music producing, voice acting, and am an aspiring backyard mechanic. Don’t know if you guys heard about a place called MLP Forums. I’ve been a member there since 2016 am now a sectional moderator on that forum. Anywho...nice to meet y’all and I can’t wait to get started in anime!

  11. Hi there and welcome. Evangelion Is a good anime to start with. Maybe try Death Note or DragonBall Z if you are starting out watching anime? Those were some of the first I enjoyed but you can probably gather a lot more ideas around the forums or on MyAnimeList.

  15. Do you remember watching any old movies that try and set the future in a timeline that we have already been through? Some movies show the year 2,000 as being futuristic, well we’ve past that one by now, and it’s funny how different the us of the past thought the us of the future would be.

  16. Although I'm new here but I'm really curious what is/are the reason/reasons why you watch anime? I think it is important to hear each others stories because people ( who do not understand anime) in real life most of the time think about those who watch Anime that they are like some outsiders or strange, or have some issues? You know there are a lot of stereotypes about anime lovers. Do you think it is true that anime watchers have some common characteristic or a reason behind why they spend lots of time sitting by the screen watching moving drawings ( as some people say) ? I think it would be an interesting discussion: why you watch anime, how you see yourself as a person when you love animations, manga and Japanese culture and what most popular stereotypes you've heard about US? Hope someone is willing to talk, haha. Myself, sending a lot of encouragement to all of us who love Anime and think it is beautiful art! We are cool, we are a strong and friendly community and we are not that weird haha ( sometimes..) !

  18. I’ve always been fascinated by animation in general and it’s way to create worlds that could normally exist only in imagination. Even in a realistic setting, by using a particular art style, they can create a unique mood or tone. As far as why I tend to have more appreciation for anime than other types of animation, it just seems like the Japanese have more respect for the medium and are willing to take on more varied topics. As far as culture & philosophy are concerned, it’s not unusual for me to encounter ideas I don’t actually agree with, but that doesn’t keep me from finding it interesting or entertaining. Finally, in regards to my current obsession with anime (probably to a degree that’s not entirely healthy for me :P) Without getting into details the past couple years of my life haven’t been pleasant ones. My initial motivation for getting back into anime was probably largely nostalgia & escapism. But to my surprise I keep encountering topics that really resonate with where I’ve been recently. I could give numerous examples of individual episodes or scenes, but I think the best illustration is a recent series called My Roommate is a Cat which deals with coping with grief after the death of one’s parents as an adult. But also the awkwardness/stress/annoyance of social interactions when you’re a natural introvert. And in that respect I find it therapeutic to interact online with people I have a common interest with. Thanks for your patience if you made it all the way to the end.

  19. "Eximperituserqethhzebibšiptugakkathšulweliarzaxułum" is another one of those weird long ones. According to the band, it's something written in "dead languages of the Ancient East". "Iwrotehaikusaboutcannibalisminyouryearbook" is weird, even by screamo standards. "Most Precious Blood" Slamming down random words from a pathological dictionary is a classic I actually kind of like 'Smashing Pumpkins' as a name, don't know why.

  22. I think 2 movies, 3 anime seasons. Really expensive if you buy from Rightstuf (even on sale) but very affordable if on sale direct from Sentai. I actually got the rest of the movies and seasons in the last Sentai sale to catch up my collection. Worth it to me. If you are interested in the games (and would rather pick your own man) they are on the ps3 and the psp. I had heard the ps4 would get one but i have yet to see it.

  30. Shark week on Discovery Channel just started at 8 PM EST. Does anyone else enjoy watching this and learning about sharks every year? I personally love this week. I first watched this when I was 8? I believe if I remember correctly. It seemed to always fall on the exact week my family would visit our beach home for vacation. So we would be out swimming in the ocean and then come in at night and watch all these programs on the sharks that were right outside in the water we were just in lol. It made me extremely interested in sharks and ocean life in general though at a young age and inspired a huge part of my life with wanting to get involved in Marine Biology, researching sharks and wanting to help in any way I could for shark conservation. It will be airing on Discovery Channel all week from now until next Sunday. The new programs are on the schedule below, though shark programs will be airing 24/7 around the clock on the channel and you can learn a lot about these fascinating beasties They have some very educational programs which I find a little more interesting than the celebrity shows like Shark Week With Shaq and Shark Trip but overall I think they are all amazing, I enjoy the humor of it, and I think it's a great way to get people motivated and educated about shark conversation and the dangers these creatures face. Enjoy Shark week if you plan to watch it!

  40. You can watch it at: https://go.discovery.com/tv-shows/shark-week/full-episodes/extinct-or-alive-the-lost-shark If you scroll down you'll see "AVAILABLE FULL EPISODES" and you can watch the new shows for free I believe as they come out - I wasn't signed into my TV account while trying this - They currently have the new episodes that aired yesterday on there. There's some more additional programming at: https://go.discovery.com/tv-shows/shark-week/ You can also watch it on: Hulu Live TV. YouTube TV - apparently viewers watching Shark Week on YouTube will be receiving a special Shark Week Easter egg show Playstation Vue - Which is currently offering a 5 day free trial. Philo - Has the cheapest subscription cost and Discovery is in its line-up.

  41. It's really nice and easy to use. I use it quite often to watch TV shows and movies with my online friends. Hopefully would be able to stream for several hours so that more people would have time to stop in since I know everyones schedules are so different. Yeah I thought I could do this on a few different days for a week, for several hours, so that people could have a wider span on time to stop in and hopefully get to chat with each other and just have a nice time.

  42. I enjoy a lot of these animal and wilderness shows too. Shark Week is one in particular I look forward to since it's a re-occuring thing every year ^^ The celebrity part doesn't interest me much, I'm pretty sure they just do that for views but the programming is mostly interesting and overall pretty educational.
