Hello again, my fellow anime fans and welcome to this years Spring AF art contest - A Reverse Isekai Challenge! This fun contest is all about bringing your favorite anime characters into your world, instead of you going into theirs. With this in mind, all you have to do is pick a character that you wouldn't normally see in our modern clothes or perhaps a school uniform, and draw them in one instead of their usual outfit. Lets see what we can come up with! If you'd like to participate, do so by replying to this thread with your entry no later than April 15th. This will be a community voted event. The community will vote 1 winning entry to be featured for the remainder of Spring in the art block. 2020 Spring Art Contest Participation badges will be awarded for each participant and can be showcased with the rest of your awards and trophies on your profile. Feel free to discuss this contest and your decision making process in this thread as well. Lets all have fun~

I won't beat around the bush here. We all know by now what is going on. My intent with creating this thread (I'll admit my own guilt) is to provide one main location for the COVID-19 talk. We've been bleeding it out into at least two other threads I know of (like I said I'm guilty). So feel free to post up your thoughts, gripes, observations, opinions, and any other commentary on the matter here. Keep politics off the table - as usual, the rules still apply. Another reason I decided to actually have a thread for this is I may pick out some of the commentary (especially from our North American memberbase) to include in the inevitable historical summary we are going to have to write at work. If that happens, I'll contact those individuals privately (there was going to be a contest, but I got smacked on the hand by my Chain of Command) - but the main reason remains to centralize the conversation a bit more. As always, stay safe, stay well, wash your hands, and if you're sick - stay on your own property.

Thank you to everyone for the welcome! Yes, this could provide a distraction from quarantine but I really hope to stay on here longer too! Thanks for the advice on the username change, part of me didn't think this username would be free which is why I don't know if I want to stick to it, I had the expectation of being able to make a username including this word! Maybe I'm kind of feeling it now. AND YES. Salsa dip and tortilla chips are the way to go, but I'm loving nacho cheese a lot these days. As for my favourite anime, I really can't choose! I look forward to being here and joining in the discussions!

Tomorrow morning's smoothie prep is done. Trying a new blend: sweet potato, beets, parsnips, carrot, banana, arugula, mango, & pineapple sprinkled with flaxseed. Truth be told, some of these smoothies don't taste the best but I'm heck bent & determined to have the Fort Knox of immune systems against this COVID-19 crud. I'll probably have it with a few slices of avocado toast, an egg white omelet, & maybe an apple for some extra fiber. Working overtime these next few days so I need some good fuel.

I'm currently back at home with my university studies seemingly on hold for the forseeabe future. I'm in a lucky position as I have a fair chunk of student loan to fall back on, plus savings if worst came to worst. Others are not so fortunate. The UK is likely to follow a similar course to Italy and Spain due to the slow initial response of our government. The economic impact of Covid-19 will be far more damaging than the actual virus and will persist longer than it too. People think that C-19 has caused this economic crisis, but in reality it has only catalysed an already existing issue. There was going to be a major crisis before 2030 and it's just come sooner than expected. It'll be the same again - bail out the banks, a few $Trillion to big business, workers/vulnerable/unemployed told to grit their teeth and pull through as best they can. A sorry state of affairs, and perhaps something we may be experiencing a lot more over the next century. I'll try and be optimistic though and say that this crisis could spur on the radical political and economic changes the globe needs.

I work in what is classified as an "essential" industry here in the US so my job is safe for the time being. A manager where I work came up with the brilliant idea of having shirts made that say 'I'm Essential' on them & honestly, it made my stomach turn. How distasteful can you be? People in our community are getting laid off left & right, businesses that people have put their all into are being closed down, & this idiot wants to run around town wearing a shirt that literally rubs it in their faces...good grief! As for myself, I've got savings & I'm in good health. I'm also listening to the experts & keeping my distant from others. Stay safe, everyone!

I'm honestly wondering how my country, Austria, is doing compared to other countries. We border Italy and had the first cases of infected some weeks ago and since then a steady rise of infected. We had an exponential growth, then we went into lock-down and since then an almost linear rise. That's odd, since as long we are not flattening, which would happen before a decline in cases, i.e. more cured than newly infected, the rise would still be exponential except somewhat slower. Also, while many people have respected the lock down so far and we didn't see any people panic buying anything (just a couple of idiots but nothing extreme like in other countries) its odd to see especially older people sitting in cafes in the cities. I guess they're the first one to not believe the media and shout "Fake news" and "hoax" and what not. (despite the media over here reporting the situation fairly well and neutral... if we ignore the tabloids) I guess in this regard it's no surprise that many of the confirmed cases are people above 60, although that might also be the case because predominately more serious cases are being tested. Locking at the stats, we've done barely over 35 000 tests in total. Germany has been doing hundreds of thousand of tests per week. (However, the tests per 100 000 citizens is almost the same... I just don't know what that means for a pandemic...) If we assume that every country is just x weeks behind earlier infected countries like Italy (which typically holds true for countries with similar measures) we should have a surge in deaths in a few days to one week, while Germany probably still has some time (despite the high number of infected. They just do a lot of tests compared to other countries). Countries like Spain, France and the US are going to be interesting. 3 countries where the virus could spread for weeks until the governments started doing something... they'll probably have a rough time in 2 - 4 (ish) weeks. I just hope that these countries see Italy as an example of what could happen if they don't do enough... so far it doesn't seem so. Yeah, stay at home if you can. Wash your hands regularly at work and after/while you went/are outside. (of buy deinfectants. Or mix high % alc with a drop of bleach or something like that.)

Welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy it here Azumanga Daioh will always be the definitive SoL series in my opinion. More recently. I really enjoyed Laidback (Yuru) Camp. The recent followup Room (Heya) Camp was rather disappointing (three minutes per episode really isn’t time enough to do anything) & the full season 2 isn’t scheduled until 2021 Some SoL series that mix things up with fantasy elements I recommend Aria (3 seasons), Flying Witch & As Miss Beelzebub Likes It. As far as shonen series, Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) is probably the best. For ones that are actually completed & not too terribly long there’s Buso Renkin and Ushio & Tora.

Hey, my name's Tahera. I REALLY WANT TO CHANGE MY USERNAME but I don't know how to! Stumbling upon this forum and making an account was just one of those 2am decisions we sometimes make. I've been watching anime for 6 years now, I haven't always been able to watch things I've planned to because I was focused on school and college. Well because of the virus my exams are cancelled and I can finally start! Ok, I hate introducing myself because I never know what to say, everything I've ever known about myself just dips, but I'm looking forward to interacting with people who have similar interests as me!

I am going for a dream based on challenge and favourite designs as I have been making costumes for years. Mine is perhaps Purple Heart from Hyperdimension Neptunia. Guess in a way she is on the straddle as I have a lot more free time these days and would love to work with LEDs. As for love of the series I would love to be a part of a Seven Deadly Sins group, or maybe Phantom thieves from Persona 5. Thinking of Gowther or Diane, and Oracle or Panther.

I'm really hyped for new Endeavor. I think it's gonna be pretty... lit. (lol) Hawks rubbed me the wrong way at first. I felt like he was up to something. By the end of the episode I still thought he is up to something. But now I think it's for good and not bad. Can't wait to find out!

Spent the weekend rearranging furniture. Good news is my SIL can now work from home, which is good because she's got diabetes and high blood pressure, two red flags for complications for the virus infection. I need a break though. Been doing 3 people's jobs at work - AT work.. none of that "work from home" stuff for me - and I can't even remember the last time I had a day off. (Unless you count that couple days a couple/few months back when I had that vertigo episode.) Weekends are extremely precious to me atm.

It depends on your location. New York is absolutely bogged down, but other places are very light. The big problem with U.S. healthcare is price hikes for medication and how policies are written for hospital stays. However, again, the majority of healthcare providers and insurance companies currently have a modified policy on COVID-19. I don't know the specifics, but I know for example in my family (from those who are unemployed to those who have the best coverage) all of them will never see a bill over $100 for COVID-19 related healthcare expenses.

probably art, and making games those two are my main passion ..maybe playing game's and animu too as for activities, i think im an expert at being average at anything i do, gimme something to do, ill fail it, but i also will pass it, im an averagist (that's a new word now xD), being the average guy who can do anything -- but not excell at anything, is what i am made for ;o

I've got quite a few passions but my main ones at the moment are community involvement i.e. advocacy for issues like homelessness, human trafficking, child abuse, mental health awareness, etc., improving my health & getting in better shape, learning different languages, music, scary pc games, cooking, and anime.

Employment is a mess here in Europe as well. While some countries have introduced new temporary laws, such as making it harder to get laid off, getting government funding for business that can't work, or being able to receive social security with much less bureaucratic stuff, it hits businesses all over the place. While there probably is barely anyone who has to starve given social security in the richer countries, it is not an ideal solution for anyone who got laid off or can't find a new job. And that's just the job aspect, not mentioning the health and treatment issues for elderly people or people who can't find midwives but are expecting. Personally it hasn't really affected me, yet. I have to find a new job since my current contract runs out at the end of August though, and I have noticed that barely any new positions have been posted recently (supposedly because all major universities are closed). Will look into creating my own position but even that is difficult since the university departments have their hands full with other stuff. I do know of others who got laid off and said it is close to impossible to find an equivalent job given the crisis.

When I first got here I was reading that Toilet Paper thread. Tough to decide if some of it was distasteful or attempting to be uplifting. As for the virus, my family is currently faq'ed. Both of my parents had to file for unemployment after temp. layoff. We're not sure how we're going to pay some bills. We let go of one of our two cars and my brother was forced to drop his college classes. The store my sister works at closed a few days ago. Yesterday we were planning to go with a cheaper cell service and look into any family that would take us in if we lose the house. I never realized how easily a life can be turned upside down. Not in thought but in actuality. My father looks so worried, I think he's making himself sick.

I keep going back to the My Sherona (My Corona) parody when hearing about it, but I figured the direct approach to titles was better for this. haha. But yes, that's generally the point. Online communities are pretty much the thing that's holding most of the younger generations together right now (and even some of the older, though they're less apprehensive about phone calls). On the job front, it really is an interesting time. There's generally a supply surge in job demand, but few willing to take up the risk with everything that's going on. I'm lucky enough to be right in the comfort slot for most of this finance wise. I did the math today and am still sitting on 370+ hours of leave (keeping in mind I'm emergency essential, so am working from home at regular rate right now), 3 months of pay in savings, and am not encountering any hiccups through DFAS. Again though, that's luck/a blessing. There's plenty of others that have their hands tied right now, and it's a nightmare.

So guess who just found a fun new video with some delicious new recipes to try? Oh yeah, it's me! On my journey to find new ways to bulk up my breakfasts with a variety of healthy, tasty options I ran across this video on YouTube on 10 ways to make avocado toast. I've never made it before but it's super easy & I think it would be amazing with an egg white omelet maybe stuffed with some sauteed mushrooms or marinated tomatoes(even sun dried tomatoes might work too if they're diced up really small) & a side of mixed fruit or one of my green smoothies! Here is a link to the video:

So, I lied about not dying. We did have a casualty today, and I'm a bit heartbroken. I tossed my sweatshirt into the wash as soon as I got home. Shortly after I started moving the clothes to the dryer, I found my government travel card. That was odd - considering I never use that card. It shouldn't have been out of my wallet......... ...then I realized it. The leather wallet that I have had for 11 years met a terrible end, drowned in a vault of water and laundry detergent. New one is on it's way and should be here on the 28th.
