So what anime are you watching at the moment? For me it's Psycho-Pass. I'm loving it so much! It's a Sci-Fi detective thriller but It's quite deep, alongside the depth and action of Ghost in the Shell. And Shakespeare, lots of references to English literature! How about you?

So after reading @Illusion of Terra's post "Anime Forums Watching Anime Movies" It made me think it might be fun to have an Anime Forums streaming night. I often use a website called "Rabb.it" which allows someone to stream a show or movie and their friends to join and watch together. It also provides a chat box next to the movie so you can chat with your friends while watching the movie. I thought if enough people were interested it might be fun to do this one night and I'd be happy to host a movie night, or stream a show, if enough people were interested in joining and watching something together. Could probably stream for several hours with several different things to allow for people to join in at a convenient time. If you'd be interested let me know here and we can hopefully get together a movie night with enough popcorn to go around for our forums to have a little online get together ^^!

Hi everyone, We are continuing to have ongoing SPAM and new registrations from those trying to advertise. We have had manual approval put in place for new members but I am currently not able to sift through the queue in a timely manner because I am currently undergoing some challenging life circumstances. In the small amount of free time I have in ensuring the upkeep of AF, I am spending the remainder on moderating new registrations/posts instead of being able to participate in the anime discussions. In future I do intend to recruit moderation staff but I need to write guidelines and processes to accommodate this platform which I still have not been able to do yet at this time. In the meantime I am suspending new member registrations until my life circumstances improve. Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.

What are the things that cause you to raise your estimation of someone? I don't mean the things that impress you. Nearly anyone can be impressed by anything. I'm talking about the things that IMPRESS you. Capslock, underline, italics, bold impress. Things that force you to think of someone in a better light. For me - Acts of tremendous kindness, for the fuck of it. It's way too easy to just go on, every single day, living the same way without acknowledging others. I think it's important for people to give forward. Getting the shit kicked out of you and getting back up. Toughness is a virtue to me. There aren't many that I respect more. Someone that can fall apart and put themselves back together, emotionally or physically, I have a lot of respect for the simple ability that some people have to keep standing back up. Creativity. It can be writing, it can be talking, it can be reviewing, it can be anything. I just respect people that can be creative in any way form or fashion. What about you?

Hi! Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I was looking around and noticed that there doesn't seem to be a thread on this yet. On other forums I've been on, there's been a thread related to how you're feeling at the moment. I think it's cool to share the good things going on in our lives, but to also support one another when we're having down days. So, whatever you happen to be feeling, go ahead and share! Right now, I'm currently feeling good overall. I was a little stressed about the future, but I'm also happy with becoming more independent as an adult. ^^

So I decided to make some icons for everyone that you can feel free to upload and use on the forum. If anyone has any suggestions for characters I could make in the next batch, suggestions would be very welcome since I'm not really sure what all everyone would like to see. Another problem I have is that I have noticed on Chrome icons show up on the forum as 170x170 whereas on Firefox, they show up as 110x110. So if you use a browser with a different size setting these may look a bit off since they are 170x170 but if you have that problem let me know and I can resize it so it does not lose its quality :3 ! If you use, crediting me in your sig as the maker would be appreciated, but not 100% necessary. Just please don't claim as your own :3 Yu-Gi-Oh FMA and Fairy Tail Misc.

It hurts when someone leaves you then not saying why. But I discovered I guess that person didn't care after all and you need to let go and move on. Since there are many others out there who do care and will stay by your side, I hope to find those people.

Do you ever feel really self-conscious about watching anime? Is there a person or group of people that you absolutely would NEVER want to know about your hobby? Don't worry, I promise that they will not read this topic. I'll start. If I'm hanging out with friends or people around my age or younger, then I really don't care. Anime is disturbingly popular up here in the northwest of the USA, and I have never really felt a need to avoid mentioning it. With *that* said, whenever I'm watching anime on the commuter train to home, I like to ensure that my back is up against the wall so no one can watch over my shoulder. The fact that there's so much fan service and shit in most anime make me extremely reluctant to be seen by someone that may just interpret things as, "OMG THERE IS A GROWN WOMAN WATCHING ANIMATED PORNO ON THE TRAIN." Besides this, I tried introducing anime to my mom and completely made a mess of things due to some very, very bad choices on the part of myself and my sister. To make a long story short, my mother currently believes that anime is satanic and completely horrifying. And, with my mom, first impressions are everything - gg no re. So, yeah... I guess my own situation is half and half. :'(

Some long needed purging is being done all around the forums, a rogue moderator had been deleting posts and topics but that has been resolved for now. Soon I will be stepping in as new Community Manager, it's nigh time to rebuild and restore this charming site!

I'm pretty sure the first manga I read was Fruits Basket. My friend was buying the series as it came out, so I got to read them pretty quickly as they were released.

Just wanted to open a thread (As suggested by seshi :3) to post some of my art stuffs, since I'm just working on learning to do better pieces in my spare time between writing. Still, I will outright say that I am in no way great, but I am still learning, so please be patient with me :3 (Addition) If you would like to check out more of my thingies, feel free to have a look at my newgrounds stuff too ( https://xyrodonatus.newgrounds.com/ ) But ya don't have to, I just like making the art for the fun of it ^^ Anywho! Ill start off with the one i did for the MHA contest on here, since Toga is one of my favourite characters in general. (One is just an alternate to the eyes I was using to figure out shading stuffs) just to add one of the most recent ones I have done, here's a little picture of Oshino Shinobu from the Monogatari series

Naruto is know for it's large cast of lovable characters but as of episode 112 of the original series I can definitively say that Rock Lee is easily my favourite character in the series. Everything from his positive demeanor, to his underdog background is so very beautifully shounen, he's so very cheesy with his background of fighting back against those who didn't believe in him, finding comfort in Might Guy and rising to become a splendid ninja. But what I think makes him special is just how genuinely sympathetic, yet still endearingly passionate in the face of absolute failure and misfortune he can be. An example of what I've expressed comes from his legendary fight against Gaara in the preliminaries before the finals of the Chunin Exams. When he is defeated by Gaara we learn that he will never be able to return to being a shinobi due to the severity of his injuries, this causes Lee to question his future and everything up until this point becuase of his ethos being to never give up and that with hard work even he can become a splendid ninja but in spite of it all he keeps a positive outlook and whole heartedly believes he will one day recover with perseverance. Eventually Naruto finds the legendary healer Sanin Tsunade who is famous for her healing capabilities, however she urges Lee to quit being a shinobi due to his only option being life threatening surgery, at this point, desperate for an answer he asks Might Guy what to do, in a highly emotional climax both Lee and Might Guy decide that in order to coninue his dream he must never give up as that is his nindo, his ninja way. In the end he displays something so beautifully simple, that passion and perseverance will always pay off and that even in the worst of times we can continue to be better for ourselves and for those we love. Rock Lee is my favourite because he's corny and goofy and simple and so emblematic of what I love about shounen anime.

Do you have anyone in your family that you look up to? Any role models or inspirational figures? This topic is a place to shout out to non-fictional (real) people that have made a positive (or maybe just a large) impact on your life. For myself, this may sound really cheesy but I admire my spouse - @zoop. (Go ahead, judge me, but read the whole damn thing first.) Zoop and I actually met online, on a forum that was not too different from this one. She was an administrator there and I was, initially, a member. Actually, our very first interaction was her responding to a status update of mine. I hated her almost immediately, hahaha. She didn't even bother replying to my welcome topic, and her profile seemed to paint her as being a jerk. Anyways, after I volunteered to help save the site following a disaster, I was made into a moderator and then a server administrator. From behind the scenes, I had a chance to see how Zoop worked as a moderator. She was professional, measured, and really really really tough. During an average week, there would be hundreds of reported posts and mod actions, about a half-dozen lengthy arbitrations (they had arbitration available for all mod actions), and at least one total and complete community disaster (drama queens everywhere). Zoop handled more than eighty percent of this shit. She did it while holding down a full time job and making time to think of ways to improve the community. She was basically a super mod. She also took time to argue with me. Hahaha. We both loved the community, but I was constantly grappling with the fact that the site owner insisted on running a bloated, outdated forum software. Sooo, I would be busy putting out fires and she would be all like, "I need this extra feature! Hey, can you change this theme? Is there a way to automate this? What about that? Holy shit, a SQUIRREL!!!!" It was funny, because a simple "no" never actually worked with her. I would have to prove my point, arguing against her in lengthy legalistic format. That's how we fell in love, I guess? Hahaha. Up until that point, I had never met anyone that could match and beat me in wonkish argument, persistence, and general energy levels. Overtime, I was completely filled with admiration for this weird creature. Sooo, I decided to put a ring on it. Now, she's mine. o3o *ahem* Soooo, what about you? Anyone that you admire?

Have you ever done anything a little, well, humiliating? Something that left you completely rolling around on the ground, laughing at your own ridiculousness? If you have, don't worry, I'm sure you're in good company... I know I have, so I'll kick this topic off by sharing a few "glorious" moments of my own. At work, about two weeks ago, I sent out an email to a few coworkers about our most recent public announcement. I forgot an "l" in there. I'll let you figure that one out. :'( When I was about 7 years old, I had a terrible fear of water (still do). I was at this water park (don't ask, okay, I'm a lesbian and the cutest girl in class asked me to go with her, you figure it out). Anyways, I decide to show off by taking this huge water slide. (I am an idiot, generally.) I took the slide and hit the pool at the bottom and started panicking, because I thought I was drowning. The life guard walks out and offers some sage advice, "You could try standing up?" About one week ago, I was trying to send a message on discord and misclicked. That was how I sent the message "fuck me" to my mom, with absolutely no context. (Thankfully, I was able to convince my sister to hunt down mom's phone, steal it, and delete all notifications.) Approximately 25 minutes ago, I attempted to take a bath. Unfortunately, the shower head was on. Even more unfortunately, I didn't notice. So, I walked out and walked back in. When I did, I noticed that it had fallen (it's one of the removable ones) into the tub. I thought, "Oh, okay", and I turned up the water. (I'm sleepy as heck atm, okay. ) Anyway. The shower head tilts due to the flow increase and shoots water out of the tub and into my face and the ceiling. After considerable swearing and panic (fear of water), I manage to get things under control. The ceiling is now a little moist. (@zoop I'm sorry, I think I made a bit of a mess in there. ^^;;;; ) I've heard that confession is good for the soul. So, like... DON'T LET ME BE THE ONLY ONE TO POST IN HERE. :'(

Hello I've been in search of a new community to involve myself in for a while. I recently stumbled upon this place, so decided to join. After all, this place where I can talk about something I like a lot. Wine. I love it so much. I even named myself after a vineyard. So, let's get drunk together. Oh, I'm also here for anime. I guess I'll be here for that as well. I've watched a variety of stuff from Death Note, Durarara and Hellsing Ultimate to stuff like madoka, angel beats, durarara, watamote, lucky stars and Mrs Kobayashi's dragon maid. That last one was definitely one of the highlights of this year so far. I also marathoned part 3 and 4 of Jojo's bizarre adventure a few months ago. So, yeah, I'm a a Jojo fan. As for anime I'm currently watching, there's Youjo Senki and Drifters. I also intend to watch A Silent Voice today. It, along with Your Name, is something I've heard a lot of good things about and I can't wait until it gets released on bluray, though I will end up purchasing it if it's remotely as good as everyone says it it is. I'm currently seeking to watch more things with the kind of emotional weight these two films are said to have and would appreciate recommendations from fellow members. I also intend to start Kyoukai no kanata and Little Witch Academia today. I'm also waiting to purchase My Hero Academia when I can, since I've heard nothing but good things about it. I'm also awaiting the release of One Punch Man, which I have watched, this year, after watching Mob Psycho last year as it was aired online. I'm also interested in visual novels. My favourite is Umineko, which I'm sure is a surprise, given how my username comes from it. Anyway, I also like Steins gate and have also watched the anime. I intend to get Steins Gate 0 very soon. I also intend to reread Umineko and some of the routes of Katawa shoujo soon. I also enjoy games with visual novel elements like zero escape, danganronpa and ace attorney. I'm currently replaying Virtue's Last Reward and am waiting for the PS4 release of Zero Time Dilemma. I've also been getting back into gaming in general, since I recently gained the means to play a lot of games that I couldn't before. So far, I'm playing Nier Automata and Resident Evil 7. I do intend to get Persona 5 and Final Fantasy 15, because what I've seen of P5 is amazing and I have an interest in Final Fantasy, but had been put off by the reputation of FF12 and 13 and don't play MMORPGs. So, it's been quite a while since I've touched a Final Fantasy game. Apart from that? Well, I'm currently excited that Undertale is going to get a physical PS4 release. I did write fanfiction for a bit and have an interest in getting back into it. Here's a link. So, what else is there to say? Well, I'm an introverted person seeking a community to involve myself in and have been after a new one for quite a while. My efforts to find a new one to be a part of have been very unsuccessful. But this place looks very good. So, I hope this works out and that I'll get along well with you all.

I am super shy, like the highest level of shyness you would ever find in a human being ... I struggle with social anxiety and it can completely ruin my day, change my plans, or just keep me stuck in the house for as long as possible. Before going anywhere I take into consideration where I'll be going, and then I get emotionally prepared for the long and terrifying day ahead. I have had a few moments where my anxiety disappears and I just kick someone's butt with no mercy because I finally hit that breaking point of not just shutting up and letting people do whatever they want, although this rarely happens because I don't find most things worth my time and effort. Talking to people both in real life and online is really hard for me ... I get anxiety whenever I'm in public or around people, this then leads to me just freaking out inside and toying with my hair, clothes, or an item I'm holding while staring at the ground and making absolutely no eye contact with anyone. If I have to talk to people I will most likely freak out for 10 minutes before hand and then manage to squeak out some reply before feeling like I just died inside. I have no idea why my anxiety is so bad, it's probably because I have a total of .2 experience in the "Human interaction" category of life. Online it's pretty bad as well ... I never start conversations unless we've talked before and you initiated them, this lets me know that you like talking to me and I could possibly start a conversation later. I also struggle with actually talking in chats or group chats and instead opt to just watch what everyone else is saying because I don't wanna interject with something that could possibly not be what they're talking about ... I'm also a really strange person and none of my talking points are what any normal person would find good small talk. As you can probably tell from what I've already written, I absolutely suck at making friends. I've never really had any friends in my life, there was one girl who was super shy as well who I hung out with and stood up for before moving, but I'm not sure if that really counts as a friendship since we almost never spoke to each other and just respected the fact that we were both majorly shy ... I also have no friends online, on any site, because I can never talk to people ... I also don't really have a personality online, because my real personality is a bit ... Umm, "Strange". Since my anxiety is so bad I still haven't found a way to cope with it, I usually just end up shutting my brain down when in public and then spending the night (After a day in the public eye) locked away from the world so I can recover from the events that occurred.

A lot of care and effort has already been put into making both the front page and forums responsive and very usable on smartphones. If there are issues with the theme on your smartphone I'd much prefer to work with you to help resolve them as opposed to making a separate app. There are ongoing costs with apps. I once experimented with Tapatalk's branded app version and to keep the Apple iOS version going it cost $10 USD a month (Tapatalk) + $99 USD a year (Apple Developer Program) . And with Tapatalk the experience was so different, especially with how topics and user profiles were displayed. I'm not ruling out having an app in future - I would LOVE to have the ability for the same alerts you get here on AF to be sent out as push notifications on your smartphone, which only an app can reliably do. But our community just isn't large enough to warrant it at this time due to the cost and time needed to develop and maintain it. If we ever get an app developed, I would want it to be done right - to maintain many of the features we have here because I know some of you have made your profiles really pretty with the covers and background images.

Hello everyone, Anime Forums will be undergoing a server migration at: 6 AM, Saturday, November 21, 2015 (Pacific Time) (10 PM, Saturday - Western Australia time) We are doing this move to get more increased storage, as we have almost outgrown our current server due to the increasing size of our lovely anime Galleries and file attachments. Our host will be doing a two-tiered approach: An initial copy will be done approximately four hours before the scheduled migration. At 6 AM, the server will be shutdown, and an updated sync will take place to copy any new posts and content that was made between the initial copy and the server shutdown. During this time, Anime Forums will be offline and not accessible. Assuming all goes well, we will be back online after the migration is complete. I don't have an ETA how long it will be offline for, but it should not take longer than a few hours. Thank you for your advance patience and understanding.
