  1. Thank you so much! Getting to this point in the fundraiser it can feel like a dead end with raising so much and still a bit to go it feels like you've run the well dry so donations like this really help and I am very appreciative!

  2. I certainly plan on updating it! About your fantasy, I've heard a little from my Japanese friend who's studying to get into a good company, and she said that working in Japanese workplace can be very rewarding because of how great some can be at teamwork! Although there is black companies and also karoshi (death from overwork) problems in Japan. There are also many companies that are great to work in as well! Other than that, my least faborite part of working would be the commute... most communters are packed into the densha (trains) like sardines, plus the perverts who take pictures. But they usually target high school girls. So it might not be all warm and fuzzy, but there are also many ways it can be fulfilling as well!

  3. First off YAY! that is so cool, I hope that you post updates on how your trip goes, I would look forward to hearing more about your experiences in Japan. I have an aunty who lived and taught English there for 10 years and she loved it. I often fantasize about what it would be like to live another life as a white collar in the city, going about day-to-day life in the Hussle and Bussle of city life. I am sure I am just romanticizing a warm nostalgic feeling associated to the image I hold in my head and that reality is much different but I kind of find a comfort in it all the same.

  4. I encountered the "Ad-blockers are not allowed on YouTube" pop-up yesterday evening and found that if I just closed the pop-up window, by using the normal red X 'close window' method, the pop-up closed and the video played as normal without ads. YouTube/Google will probably fix that 'bug' soon.

  6. Yeah I've heard that due to a lot of protests about the guides in Machu Picchu that it's gotten hard to get up and also the crazy weather. Unfortunely the same is happening with Mnt Blanc due to the changes in weather and terrain so before we know it, the mountain may no longer be climable

  7. Well done to both of you for completing the challenge. Thanks for the report, it sounds like you had a great time, but also that there were some parts of it that you'd prefer not to remember but it'll still be great thing to look back on. And you're now thinking of doing either Machu Picchu or Mont Blanc !! I'm told that Machu Picchu is seriously difficult to visit.

  9. I'm really impressed that you've managed to save up so much money for your trip, very well done, and excellent achievement. It sounds like you've got a good itinerary planned out so all that needs to happen now is that you have a great trip and enjoy yourself, which I'm sure you will.

  10. That's really helpful! Working has been a challenge and I'm glad to learn more skills from it like this. I'm taking a child development course at school right now, so hopefully that will improve my skills. And even more so, trying my best to communicate with my coworkers. I tend to ignore and avoid people I don't like, so I could defintely work on pretending that I like them since working with kids requires a coordinated team. Maybe then I wouldn't be left out as much and feel more comfortable talking to them about work related things.

  11. It's always hard being the new person at a workplace, you get given all the grotty jobs that no one else wants to do, and because you're new you don't have the skills your coworkers have. The trick is to treat everyday as a learning day and also look beyond your workplace, use the Internet to find information about your job read up about products and procedures that way you'll build up a solid base of knowledge that over time your managers and coworkers will come to recognise and appreciate. But do not flaunt your knowledge, that's the best way to annoy people! Just get on with things and apply your skills quietly. Final tip: If you're offered any training courses, grab them with both hands especially if the company is offering them for free.

  12. I've never even considered being a white collar because of my painful relationship with math too. And being a blue collar kind of feels off the table as well because of my weak constitution. But even if I had a stronger body, I don't think I would enjoy working as a blue collar because of it being male dominated field. My appearance makes me seem very demure, so I really hate it when people, not just men, overlook my abilities because of it. So I have to ask, is the typical blue collar workplace really that sexist? As of right now I work in childcare, which is fun because of the kids, but my coworkers are absolutely unbearable at times. Its my first job and I'm learning a lot of new skills though, and I may be blaming the uncomfortably of those frustrations on my coworkers. But still, even the men/boys who take care of children stare at my butt, belittle me, and leave me to do the menial tasks of cleaning. Even the girls my age who work there ignore me and make fun of me for my countenance. Sometimes I think about quitting, but then I remember that its probably worse at other places.

  15. The Steam Deck is basically a portable Linux ("Arch based") system that's been optimized for the hardware. The hardware Valve chose is a pretty standard x86-based PC hardware-wise (AMD 4-core/8-thread CPU with 16GB laptop RAM and a laptop GPU) so running other, non-Steam software on it is also possible, including other Linux distros, or even Windows itself. To play Windows titles on Steam OS/Linux the Deck has the Proton emulator. I've used the emulator with my Steam library on my (Ubuntu) desktop system and it works pretty well. The Deck also comes with the KDE desktop used by many/most Linux distros preinstalled so running Linux software beyond what is supplied by Valve is just a matter of downloading and installing it. Ars Technica has a pretty deep (tho a bit dated at this point) dive into the gory details for anyone who's interested. I've seriously considered getting a Deck of my own but I already have a linux laptop and I'm afraid the Deck would make it too easy to waste too much time playing games.

  16. Shelter certain has a lot more defined plot to the video and was a great recommendation to someone who had never seen it. The buzz around Colors is mostly the appealing visuals, but there is some sort of abstract and ambiguous story there too

  17. I've watched the "Colors" music video a couple of times and I can't make head nor tail of it. The animation just starts and looks like a series of random incidents between two girls, then when the song ends the video abruptly ends and gives me the impression that the video was just background images for the song and once the song was over the video was just cut off because it wasn't needed any more. Overall I found it a rather poorly made music video when compared to Porter Robinson & Madeon's music video "Shelter", which actually told a story.

  18. I've actually just recently hit the full goal, now it's pure focus on more training and packing before leaving in less than two weeks! I'll be making another entry before leaving just about training and gear

  21. The character I most relate to is Rin Shima from Yuru Camp. Like me she's an introvert who is happiest doing her own thing in her own time on her own. But, also like me, she's not anti-social and she will join in with other people and go out with them if she's asked and given the opportunity to decline and is not forced to join in. She is softly spoken and is willing to share her knowledge and interests with people if they're interested, but she won't force herself on people although she does care for her friends, often quietly and sometimes secretly.

  22. Ok, so, after spending what felt like an eternity preparing for the Battle Arena in FFVII only to be disappointed to realize I'd never be able to get enough points from it to get the Omnislash for Cloud, I'll be tackling the game from the beginning again. I'd just like a fresh start without having the mistake in my save files. This'll be pretty fun! ^^

  23. Not to worry, I know I'm not going anywhere, and I'm fairly sure the rest of us aren't either. Though I can't actually speak for everyone, since that wouldn't be my place. I'm confident that you'll always have people to talk to here though. ^^ It's definitely good to hear from you though, Dimitrios. Though I am sorry that you got hospitalized. That never happens to be enjoyable.

  24. Sorry to hear it, dude. It'll pay off in the end, once you get the hang of math. Trust me, as someone who is pretty much inept at it, it's an indispensable tool to learn. Hang in there, man.

  25. That sounds dire, you have my sympathies. Summer school sounds like a contradiction. Indeed I don't think that the words "summer" and "school" have any business being in the same sentence.

  27. Ok, well, this is embarrassing. The father of the girl at the clothes shop (or in other words, the one you talk to about getting a dress for Cloud) appeared, but I didn't notice he was behind the counter last time. So I might have restarted for no actual reason. lol I thought the game glitched on me, but I only remembered where the owner of the clothes shop was incorrectly. He moves from behind the counter later on, trying to show Aeris a dress he thought she should try. So, that's really embarrassing and humiliating. lol Oh well, at least I didn't cheat this playthrough.
