  1. Hi @Hootr, Funimation did the English cinema release for this one. Looking at their website a date hasn't been locked in yet... but do keep a close eye on their blog, they always announce their DVD and Blu-ray releases a month or two ahead of time: https://www.funimation.com/blog/category/new-releases/ The usual pattern with English dub anime movie releases is that assuming someone has licensed it (always a high chance if it was popular) then it will be available a few months after the Japanese DVD/Blu-ray comes out. In this case the Japanese release is coming out on July 27. I watched the Japanese version in cinemas so that's the version I'm going for, plus it looks like they're doing a gorgeous 4k Blu-ray release! http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/feature/kiminonawa_movie_blu_ray_DVD
  2. So I made the move to 4k with an upgrade to a LG OLED 65" HDTV. Some of the wall scrolls also got rotated. Will post new photos later this weekend... Hi @Tsuruya, sorry I forgot to reply to this. The room is about 3.65m x 4.4m Oh that sounds pretty powerful and pricey indeed! Do you intend to game in your home theatre?
  3. Eagerly awaiting the Blu-Ray release for this prequel to No Game No Life, seeing the darker side of Disboard before Sora and Shiro jumped into it sounds pretty thrilling! We did after all hear many tales of it from Jibril's accounts so definitely looking forward to seeing the full events in action. The plot: Six thousand years before Sora and Shiro were even a blink in the history of Disboard, war consumed the land, tearing apart the heavens, destroying stars, and even threatening to wipe out the human race. Amid the chaos and destruction, a young man named Riku leads humanity toward the tomorrow his heart believed in. One day, in the ruins of an Elf city, he meets Shuvi, a female exiled "Ex-machina" android who asks him to teach her what it means to have a human heart. The visuals of Shuvi (that tail!) and Riu look fantastic! Well based on the above PVs, to me it still looks vivid and has that Madhouse studio touch to it. Of course the setting is about Disboard being in less happier times (on the brink of destruction) revolving mainly around this android character called Shuvi (trying to understand the human heart) with Riku (who sounds like he is just as witty and sharp minded as Sora) so naturally it would look darker in many scenes.
  4. Hi everyone, just a heads up that three of the general No Game No Life discussion threads have been merged together. Also check out the No Game No Life Zero discussion thread, the prequel movie.
  5. Rest in peace... I remember at the peak of their Meteora (I enjoyed this album a lot at the time) and Hybrid Theory albums there were so many anime music videos (AMVs) that used their songs...
  6. Been busy this week due to full-time work and lots of RL stuff... thankfully weekend approaching!

    Forums vs Chats

I overwhelmingly prefer forums because: forum discussions are searchable and public - with chat, unless you're keeping history it's gone. Even with chat history, finding specific discussions and information later can be VERY difficult if you don't remember the timeslot and/or keywords. forum discussions they can be linked to and rediscovered with relative ease, assuming it has a decent title and categorised correctly. So many times have I tried to search online for a solution to a technical problem or product comparisons and forums almost always come out on top, because they're usually unbiased and genuine (many blogs and web pages may not always be neutral or have a commercial bias). But the mobile experience for forums still isn't as good as it could be. Chat doesn't really work for me these days due to time zone conflicts and I practically cannot do live chat due to the nature of having full-time work hours. Of course for a live event such as gaming or having a conference, you can't beat the dynamic nature of chat...
  8. I've now added a new option to display just the image! This is now added, in your Preferences just select CUSTOM, then below there is a text field where you can then input your custom message. My very unbiased result:
  9. Sorry it's not yet ready needs more testing. I'll let you know here when it is!
  10. So in episode 2 of Attack on Titan Season 2, following on from that rather gruesome scene in the previous episode... Titans are spotted within Wall Rose (the second outermost wall after Wall Maria) causing Sasha and Connie to scurry to warn other nearby districts on horseback – WITHOUT any of their tactical gear. (this group was isolated in this outer region due to suspected titans among them) Armin, Mikasa and Eren discuss the integrity of the wall. Thinking back on the Annie incident, he hypothesises that the walls could be made of hardened titan skin – allowing the possibility of titans being able to hide within the walls. And it seems Hanji has reached the same conclusion after looking at a chunk of crystal using a microscope. Under Erwin’s direction, a group of scouts set off on an expedition, with Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Hanji, Levi and Pastor Nick in a carriage. Hanji then shares her findings about the titans in the wall with the others along with Pastor Nick’s reluctance to talk, and…. Eren reacts strongly to this despite his previous injuries. The second half of the episode then focuses on Sasha who makes it to a village. It is empty, but she manages to find a child survivor... ...and also works against the odds to get her to safety with no tactical equipment. Sasha also gets flashbacks about her father and early scout training sessions. The episode ends with Connie arriving at his village, and seeing an immobilised titan laying on his house. I liked this episode, as we really got to see a deeper look at Sasha other than her eating food from the first season - or aka potato girl (infamous during her training session). 7/10
  11. I do feel the same way... but there are "just" enough good moments to make it worthwhile... I mentioned this in the Episode 13 discussion, that the recap episode was surprisingly really enjoyable as it cut through a lot of the fluff... You should totally post your thoughts in some of the episode threads.
  12. Oh strange - maybe there is an issue then, as immediately after you submit a post or reply it's supposed to make your post appear via AJAX. Does this happen all the time?
  13. Ooh, dramatic new OP! And it's another Sawano song! My two favourite scenes in the OP: So the government has taken the first step in bringing together all the creators to help create a new plot and a series of promotions and side stories in order to set the stage for the future trap against Altair. Operation: Elimination Chamber Festival is now in effect! The creators are all shocked at the short time frame they have but the government is really serious and stresses they must make this their top priority. Sota's group of creators start on a side story but then clash with each other. After a lot of back and forth they eventually reconcile and sort through their differences. Meanwhile Rui and Selesia are tracking down an abnormal energy source and eventually... ...they find a creation (new character!) who is trying to reunite a lost child. Awwhh. 6/10 - it was a little slow when the creators were clashing with each other but FINALLY things are moving forward. Also new character looks cute and interesting.
  14. The new OP is more dramatic and great! Another Sawano song too... goodness a lot of the budget went into the music and soundtrack. In the OP the two new characters do look interesting indeed..
  15. What are your thoughts on infinite scrolling? Many websites feature this, such as Google Images and Twitter. Even other forum software such as Discourse have infinite scrolling for discussion lists and posts built in, out of the box. Do you find it enhances the experience vs. traditional pagination? I myself prefer pagination for just one reason - it's more difficult to return to the same spot if you want to visit it again later. At the same time though I can see how it is more easier to use if you're on a smartphone - just keep swiping.
  16. Pretty much agree with what has been said above - was a great first episode after such a long hiatus. I really loved the way that Hanji interrogated Pastor Nick. It's been quite sometime since the first season but I do vaguely remember she was very passionate and almost playful about her titan research. Now it seems her demeanour has changed to a hardened one. Of course the biggest highlight was the first appearance of the mysterious Beast/Ape titan towards the end of the episode. It can talk??! He has the ability to control the other titans around him?! And seems to have no appetite for direct violence... 7/10
  17. I would have to say Greenshot, it's a screenshot application that has a lot of features built in... very useful for doing screenshot documentation as you add numbers, arrows, obfusicate (blur) regions, and it's free. Definitely saves having to open a full blown graphics app just to do simple annotations.
  18. So if you have some study, homework or even a project that needs your undivided attention - where do you prefer to do it? Lately I've been going to public Libraries and other University Libraries to do study and even work on AF at times because with all the anime merchandise at home and in my room it has become a rather large distraction. Plus where possible I much prefer to enjoy that anime atmosphere in the evening for relaxation rather than try to use it for work. How about you?
  19. Idol anime typically feature characters that perform beautiful songs with visually beautiful costumes and an underlying story. Some of my favourites include: Love Live! School Idol Project: the story of trying to save their school from closing was rather touching and full of energy. The later title Love Live! Sunshine! though I didn't like much at all - as it was shadowing the original characters way too much.. The iDOLM@STER: I'm still watching this one, and think this is my most favourite by far. Go go 765 Production! The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls: the production values in this was better and I found this one quite good, and had a really cute nekogirl but it became rather bleak in some parts towards the end. Surprisingly, some of the themes in idol anime can become a little dark too as the performers are of course still living normal lives outside of their work. What are some of your favourite titles?
  20. Wow, time flies - it has already been 6 months since that pre-order.... I'm happy to say that Shielder arrived today! Will unbox and find a spot for her in the coming days. Yes... yes... I agree!
  21. Hi everyone, So today I finally had the time and right state of mind to respond to this rather... unconventional event @Frost created. I would like to stress that this event was completely unexpected and out of the blue. With no heads up or prior warning, I was surprised when I saw the thread asking for submissions. Then when I started to read the responses after they were published I felt very embarrassed and just went on with my usual business. It however became clear that the pressure was rapidly mounting after I realised the magnitude and effort some members had put into their submissions. This event was all done in good fun, and despite that, I have to say - at the bottom of my heart, thank you all for your kind words of support. Reading each entry really put a smile on my face. I originally created this anime community as a side hobby, but knew it would cost a considerable amount of resources to not only create one but for it to stand out from other anime communities out there. To be frank, I still feel embarrassed with the attention I was given in this event as this community is really all about you - the members. I'll continue to do my best to make AF a fun and great environment for discussing anime, keeping a great user experience in mind. (...and also turning everyone into HDN fans) I know it has not been a perfect ride, but I must stress - EVERY decision I've made has always been in the best long term interests for this community - and I hope you will continue to allow me to continue to develop AF in a way that you and future new members will enjoy for many years to come. Thank you!
  22. Ahh... when you preview your post it is normal for the images not to show up, that's currently a limitation of the editor... When you save your post then they should show up as normal. I would stick to saving images and manually uploading the images to your post as you've done in your most recent test because if you're copying and pasting URLs there's a chance they could be being blocked from their end (hotlink protection). If you want you can send me a test conversation with your images as a test.
  23. Hi @RepentantSky, Are you uploading the images when making the post? Or are you inserting them from an external image hosting service? (we have a feature that automatically converts external images to attachments) When you upload images to your post, below the message box there is an Attached Files section and you have two shortcut options to insert them inline: Thumbnail and Full Size Thumbnail will insert it using this format: [ATTACH]32588[/ATTACH] Whereas Full Image will insert it using this format: [ATTACH=full]32594[/ATTACH] The numbers are based on the ID of the image which you shouldn't have to worry about at all if you're using the shortcut buttons as illustrated above. When you are uploading them for the first time, as you insert the in your post you get to see the actual images in your message box. The next time you edit it, it will only show the BBCode... Hope this helps answer your question? Let me know if you need further clarification.
