  1. Just wondering if anyone here has seen the most recent series of Digimon: Xros Wars/Fusion? Would you recommend it? How did you find it compared to previous Digimon series?
  2. Add another new hobby to the list: radio scanning! Now I know why the radio guy always gets told to find high ground... analog radio is ridiculously noisy depending on line of sight!
  3. For that particular incident, the student told us it was thrown in the bin with a straight face.
  4. No silly. Correct! Rhodenspire perhaps you have some questions about Australia that we could answer for you? Can be anything, lifestyle, products, animals, wildlife...
  5. Slightly off-topic, but is it possible to subscribe to Japanese magazines and get them shipped internationally? That would be radical!

How many Post Cards do you have in your collection Ciara? Do you have a unique one to show us?
  7. Welcome to the Australia Discussion thread! Open to all members to discuss and ask any questions regarding Australia. Lets start with a guess the photo game! What is the name of this Australian bird?

    Travel Plans

It's good to see such ambitious travel plans from everyone! I recently had a big trip from Europe in September (which I still have to write about) so I haven't booked my next holiday yet... Leaning towards Japan though for 2013. Just need to find someone to travel with. As much as I loved travelling alone, you simply get more opportunities to take photos and video when you travel with someone else.
  9. Tempting... however insurance repairs require the device to be repaired by an authorised repairer that won't void the warranty by the manufacturer. So if we told students to do that, well then we wouldn't be able to get it repaired under warranty for faults like a faulty Home button. Also if you've ever tried to replace an iPad screen it's very time-consuming because the screen is actually glued onto the device itself. To do it properly you need to melt the glue away, separate the digitisor from the screen and then reglue the new one on. No wonder the third party repairers charge around $200. Personally if it was my own device I'd lean towards an OOW (Out of Warranty) replacement from Apple... or... not drop the device in the first place! Here is a photo of one of the more badly damaged iPads: Case suggestions? :grinning:
  10. Tweaking the forum layout bit by bit.
  11. I work at a school and we have over 150 iPads deployed for Year 10-11 students. Due to the high number of accidental damage insurance claims to screens, I am looking for new ideas for iPad cases. The first ones we tried last year were the STM skinny folio cases: Pros: very slim, light. Cons: flap to close case and secure in upright position didn't last long, started to peel. Little protection when dropped. This year we tried the Speck Fitfolio cases: Pros: faux leather feel, more protection. Cons: plastic mold to clip and secure iPad cracked very easily over time. As much as I would love to go Otterboxes they're just too expensive unfortunately, but if that's the only true option we "might" consider it. Any ideas guys?
  12. Society and culture: Psychology? Law? Asian languages and studies (Japanese?) Journalism? (media or print media) IT: Computer science: programming, application development, video game engines Game design: modelling, game concepts (you'll need a strong computer science background though) Cyber Forensics: computer security consulting for companies, Police computer forensics, etc. Networking: Cisco switches, routers, data centres, NBN! Take your pick! And throw more questions!
  13. Yes, the forums have been a little quiet recently, I guess because its a busy period at the moment in RL. I myself have been hammering away at the Projects forum. Also bear in mind our members are across the globe! E.g, our American and European members would be visiting when we're asleep. As for uni, well that's a broad question! What interests you? Throw me some interests and I'll narrow some courses down for you, I graduated from Murdoch University recently.

    Bucket list?

Hopefully affordable space travel will become a reality in our lifetime.
  17. Indeed, that sounds more like a passion. I've had more time to think about this, and clearly it's important to clearly distinguish between talents and passions. Talents inevitably involves a benchmark between yourself and others for a given skill. Synonymous with record breaking or career success? Passions on the other hand, involve doing the things you really enjoy! Though there is no reason why your passion couldn't also be your talent, let alone your career. My Lithuanian friend is a professional Violinist, so therefore she would be passionate about it and if successful in concerts, would be talented. I think that sounds about right, though feel free to correct me.
  18. Japan is a good middle-ground from a distance and airfare perspective for all regions involved. Of course, if everyone is interested to come down under to Australia, I am sure Caroline and I could organise something awesome. ... ... ... Koala park!
  19. I think I was just introduced to these characters in Gundam SEED episode 37 during the Orb battle. Are they the pilots of those new Mobile Armor suits from the Atlantic Federation?

    Favorite Food

Those sound very tasty, I sure am! I am really kicking myself though for not having the chance to try traditional Dutch dishes when I was in Amsterdam or Den Haag... I must visit again and spend more time to soak in the culinary delights and culture! Oh and what were those Dutch waffles called again? I need to try those too!

    Collection

I have a few things in my collection: Appleseed 1:6 figures Hatsune Miku figure Penguin plushies Baby Panda plushie Digimon Frontier DVDs, D-Tector cards, art book (which naturally built up over the years as TDFN grew!) Europe souvenirs from my recent trip My collection is inspired by things that left a memorable impression. My Appleseed 1:6 figures for example, I liked the characters very much so I bought the whole set! My KLM Boeing 777-300 model and Swarovski Red Tulip crystal I bought after my trip because I really enjoyed KLM's in-flight service and my time in the Netherlands. Europe souvenirs I tried to get unique things that are not found in every tourist shop, such as genuine Lithuanian amber. I should take photos.
  22. Any screenshots or official poster/stills you can show us NightDancer? And what is the main plot that makes it so interesting and mysterious?
  23. Daft Punk - Steam Machine. One of my all time favourites with a retro feel.
  24. For those that are not sure what SSDs are, feel free to ask!
