But then again, I won't be giving it a look as it's not available on CR in the UK.

I've now finished re-watching The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten. A beautifully drawn and animated slice of life series with a wholesome storyline and enjoyable to watch. But having watched it again I found one thing wrong with it.... ... it's too short !!!!!!!!

A bar of chocolate. After spending an hour in the garden trimming a tree and digging weeds out from the path I thought I'd earned it.

Bright, Sunny and at 19C a lot cooler than it has been, which is nice. The recent 27-32C temps have been too hot for me.

I agree with you, in 2023 modern graphics and storytelling has given us some excellent series, although I'm not entirely convinced that all modern series have better storytelling, or graphics. Neon Genesis Evangelion is I believe still well regarded for its graphics and storytelling, and it dates from 1995, while 1996 bought us Vision of Escaflowne. The Studio Ghibli films from the 1980's and 90's have some excellent graphics and storylines even without modern technology to create them. I agree that there are a lot of series from the 1980's and 90's, and some on into the 2000's, that are probably best forgotten but lets be careful not to tar everything from those eras with the same brush.

This is so true. Over the years I've worked with several people who hated their jobs and wished they didn't have to work, I tried to convince them that they should be grateful that they were fit and able enough to to have a job, but they weren't having any of it. I've also known people who would just love to have a job, any job, but like you their personal circumstances made it impossible. Please don't try this. Please just, don't. I once knew someone who did actually did this and managed to convince the authorities to give them all sorts of assistance, like free accommodation and an monthly allowance. The trouble was that in convincing the authorities they also convinced themselves and ended up on a downward spiral from which there was no way out. They were never really happy and sadly they died young.

Welcome aboard. Pull up a cushion, or a chair if sitting on the floor isn't your thing, and make yourself at home. -
While I'm not a fan of isekai, there are two series that I do like. They come from way back and probably before the term isekai was used for this type of series. The two are: Fushigi Yugi and Magic Knight Rayearth Both have interesting stories, good characters and lots of action. Both have two seasons, the second season of Fushigi Yugi is a continuation of the story. The second season of Magic Knight Rayearth is a new story that carries on from the first, and in my view is the better of the two.

Yes, it was Lycoris Recoil. I should have made that a bit clearer.

I watched it. I thought it was not a bad series, but not a good one either. Some of the set-piece gun battles made no sense. The worst thing was the final battle with the chief bad guy, it doesn't matter if he's a human, a cyborg or a robot nothing is going to survive having enough lead shot poured into them to kill an entire infantry regiment, be thrown off a tower block, and then come back fighting several times over. It's certainly not a series I'd watch again.

I've finished watching The Pet Girl of Sakurasou. This is a slice of Life series that follows the lives, loves and aspirations of a group of high school students who all live together in Sakurasou (Sakura Hall). Sakurasou is the dormitory where their school places those students that the school authorities see as trouble makers and misfits. Misfits they may be, but trouble makers they are not, eccentric would be a better way to describe them. The artwork and animation are good quality as is the soundtrack. The series starts off on a slightly uneven path as if it can't decide what it's supposed to be and at one point veers close to Harem Anime territory, but pulls back fairly quickly. Once it's over the uncertainness of the first few episodes the series settles down and becomes a fairly serious story, although not one without some comedy elements. I think the mix of serious and light-hearted scenes is one of the strong points of the series. Each character has his, or her, goal in life and the story follows their efforts both as individuals and as a group as they support each other and work together. Overall, while it did get off to a slow start it quickly developed into a good and interesting series that I'd be happy to watch again.
