What is the worst anime you've ever seen?
Animedragon replied to Rock-O-Jello's topic in Anime Discussion
Indeed it did. Thankfully, these days it's fairly easy to find trailers on YouTube and only a very few are restricted and won't play here in the UK. -

Finding trailers was a bit hit and miss, sometimes news & review websites had them, sometimes they didn't and sometimes the trailers were region locked and wouldn't play on a connection from the UK. -

I remember the hype when that was released. Reviewers suffered from "Kings new clothes" syndrome when reviewing it, then when people started actually watching they, like you, realised they didn't understand any of it and the series sank without trace after a few months. I never bothered with it, the trailers convinced me not to. -

What is the worst anime you've ever seen?
Animedragon replied to Rock-O-Jello's topic in Anime Discussion
For me the number one front runner for the title of "worst anime I've ever seen" has to be Kokoro Connect. Here we have an alien being who for some unexplained reason is messing with the minds, and bodies, of a group of five high school students. The series runs for 12 episodes and then just ends, the alien just says I'm not going to mess you around any more, good bye. There's no explanation of why it did what it did and gives me the impression that the author came up with what they thought was an interesting plot then realised they didn't have a clue about how to end the story and just put their pen down and walked away, or perhaps the studio just ran out of money to pay the staff and so it was just abandoned and left unfinished. Another contender is Fireworks. A film which has a storyline that I found really confusing and difficult to follow. Near the end the film has a bizarre chase sequence where the person being chased has the ability to jump back in time an hour or so and uses the knowledge of the future he left to avoid being captured. The longer the film went on the less sense the story made. -

Survey: Anime and Manga through Online Platforms
Animedragon replied to itsivanna.dsa's topic in Chit Chat
I participated as well. Up until three months ago everything I watched was on DVD and Blu-ray because my Internet connection wouldn't support streaming, but I'm sure every response to the survey will be valuable. -
This evening I started watching Super Cub which is a series about a high school girl who buys herself a, remarkably cheap, second hand Honda Super Cub moped and starts to discover the wider world around her home. From the first few episodes this looks like it's going to be another very laid back and fun series to watch.

This evening I finished watching Tsuki ga Kirei. Either someone got their wires crossed or I misread the series information, but I was expecting a 25 part series and so I was totally caught out when it ended with episode 12, which was a rather dramatic and emotional ending to a story line that had been building for the previous couple of episodes. So for it to end on such an emotional climax was a shock and left me feeling rather empty and let down. The still scenes under the closing credits went some of the way to give a closure to the story, but I had to go back and watch the end credits again to understand the ending. Don't get me wrong, Tsuki ga Kirei is a beautiful story beautifully and thoughtfully presented and the dialogue, or rather the lack of it because sometimes you don't need words, along with some superb background music that really fits and compliments each scene. Overall I enjoyed watching the series, but that ending really caught me out.

Now that is Really Good News! Thank you. Hopefully, when they say "new anime" they mean a new series carrying on from where the Blu-ray disks that came out a few years ago left off and not a new version restarting from the beginning again.

So, the not so good news is that part one of the Blu-Ray release of Cardcaptor Sakura has been put back to April 10th, although part two is still scheduled for release on 24th April so not too much longer to wait. The Good news is that Suzume, Makoto Shinkai's latest film, is confirmed for a UK Blu-Ray release although no date has so far been announced.

I've started watching Tsuki ga Kirei it's quite a slow moving slice of life series about a couple of shy third year middle schoolers who are trying to get into a relationship without attracting the attention of their rather more boisterous and outgoing classmates, and when they do manage to get together without anyone else in the room they're so shy and nervous that they don't really know what to say to each other. The artwork and animation are both good quality and the storyline, while slow moving, is well presented. The main and supporting characters are well crafted and have believable personalities. The series has 25 episodes so I've a way to go in watching this one, but so far I'm enjoying it.
