I actually don't have that wide range of anime. Most anime I've watched prior to now are simply mainstream animes. If I find anything later I'll let you know though, :P

And also I love the magic(k) part to all of it. The creator even credits J.R.R Tolken(Lord of the Rings) for inspiration. There are multiple reasons, I can't list them all. But I do no that the anime isn't for everyone. I know you enjoy more of the current anime, so maybe you won't like the show as much as I do.

Thanks for your thoughts. Yeah DBZ is the only one I've seen in that list. Not sure if Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood counts as a shounen? I really enjoyed that one. As it had 64 episodes that had plenty of depth for character development and adventure, something I miss from a lot of newer series.

Oh yeah! Fullmetal Alchemist definitely qualifies. And yeah, Fairy Tail has nice character development, and characters in general. The ENG voice cast is really awesome too.
