  1. It's not about too many characters dying. It's about when it becomes over-the-top and ridiculous. The story progressed at at uneven and an unnecessarily fast rate, and if you start killing characters left and right, you lose a sense of stakes, just like when you don't kill any character. The other issue is the writing. Espcially the comedy. The writing was pretty sub-par. Of course, I'm not denying that the animation was good and the action scenes were very good, but, they weren't serviced by good story and characters.
  2. By the way, here's an interesting video I found on Kissanime. He doesn't mention it, but sort of hints that he is indeed talking about it. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TAg4gIhdfg
  3. I have seen Rurouni Kenshin, Seirei no Moribito and Magi. All three are excellent(with Magi being my favourite of the three), but, thank you for the recommendations.
  4. I'm not saying that anime have to be faithful to the source material for it to be good. But, if you do have a good source material, you can make sure that you stick to it. Bones has done a wonderful job with MHA, in my opinion, so, I'm faithful.
  5. Just a question, by dub, do you specifically mean English dub?
  6. WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD Here's a gist of what happens: 1. Everyone's back from their internships and are as pumped and excited as ever. 2. They all under-go rescue training in groups of 5, super-vised by All Might. 3. All Might talks about One for All's origins, the power of All for One, and the origins of quirks. 4. All Might and All for One fought at one point, and All Might defeated him, but, he was mortally wounded. 5. All for One survived All Might's attack and is planning to transfer his powers to Shigaraki. With this episode, many questions pertaining to the origin of quirks, why All Might is as powerful as he is, and who is possibly gonna be the main antagonist of the series are answered. In my opinion, the rescue training scene was added just to have some kind of action, because they didn't want the episode to consist of expository dialogue alone. The origin of All for One, quirks and One for All wasn't a big mic drop moment for me. It was good to know all these details, but, the information that mattered to me was the existence of All for One. Knowing that All Might is not gonna live long really got into me. He's one of my favourites in the series. I wonder when he's gonna tell this to Deku, seeing as to how he hesitated to do so this episode. The animation and the score were good, as usual, and this episode was certainly a vast improvement over the last, which felt like a filler episode(it was still good). Score: 8.5/10.
  7. There's a catch, though. The studio that animated Erased was A-1 pictures, and they have a history of deviating from the source material. Bones is the studio that's adapting MHA, and they made anime like FMAB, Noragami, Darker than Black, etc., which have been pretty faithful to the source material(or at least I think that way). If they wait for another year like they did with season 2, and release season 3, I think everything's gonna work fine. Psycho-Pass is very, very good, in my opinion. Pardon my ignorance, but, DC certainly doesn't mean Detective comics right? And, certainly not, Dickens Charles!?
  8. Yeah, good to see you here. Looks like you've been pretty active too.
  9. Psycho-Pass season 1 is sort of a marriage of detective and crime fiction, with a little bit of mystery. I found Dan Brown's first three books(Angels and Demons, Digital Fortress and Da Vinci Code) to have a good amount of mystery to it, though, his trope sort of became predictable in his book 'The Deception Point', and the book itself is middle of the road for me. You don't want another season of MHA because you aren't really interested or? With SnK, I followed from season 1 every week before its popularity exploded, and I hadn't really seen anything like it before. It was more of an anime for entertainment and thrills than story-telling and dialogue, with the occasional gore extravaganza which I sort of relish, if done well.
  10. This is something I've always wondered about anime as well. I've yet to come across a 'true' horror anime. It's either zombies or monsters. It doesn't involve ghosts, slow moments of tension, suspense and build-up in dark places, the occasional jump-scares. The only one that has some moments of horror is Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. But, it is a psychological thriller for the most part. Another is also something that's closer to horror than most shows that call themselves as belonging to the genre, but, it's still a slasher.
  11. Well, it's an episodic show, so, it's best if you avoid binging it. The show has some sort of an ending, but, it's still episodic all the way through. I see. The show is almost at episode 20, and hopefully the next season airs late next year or early the year after, like SnK season 3. It'd be a bummer if it gets delayed.
  12. Clannad is one of those anime where I get why people like it(though there are other anime where I don't). But, it's not my cup of tea. Most of Kyoto animation's works aren't. The only exception is Hyouka. I see. To me, he is extremely funny, but, to each his own, I guess. The thing that differentiates him from other protagonists is that he, for the most part, doesn't engage in a shouting contest. So, you watching MHA season 2 every week, or waiting for it to get over?
  13. This is an extremely unpopular opinion, but, I didn't like Clannad or Clannad: After Story. Both of them were, at best, mediocre. And, it's not because romance anime or anime about relationships(of any sort), this was a bit too sappy for me, and that made me not connect with the characters as much as I hoped. The thing with whiny protagonists is that they usually are one of the factors why I dislike an anime more. This is why, even though One Piece is not per se my favourite Shounen anime, Luffy is easily my favourite Shounen MC. But, I do get used to it(as I did with Naruto), but sometimes, it makes me drop stuff(like Fairy Tail, but, there were other, more potent reasons that made me do it). The silver-lining is that Deku wasn't a complete coward, so I was still able to get behind him in MHA.
  14. I watched the Honest Trailer for the live-action version and the cinemasins video for the original classic. DIdn't bother with watching the CS video for the live-action version, though.
  15. While I didn't really mind the initial episodes of God Eater as much as you did, I do agree that the series does get better as it progresses. The first episode was convoluted and all over the place, but, it became more focused, and everything came together towards the last few episodes.
  16. We all have watched an anime that didn't particularly have a good start. But, you drudged through it, probably hoping, and maybe knowing, that you'll get something special with a little bit of patience. Did you have an experience like that with any anime? Mine are: Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood-It's my third favourite anime ever, but, it didn't have a strong start, in my opinion. Everything had to do with the pacing. It felt kind of rushed. And, after talking to a few people who've watched both FMA and FMA:B, I've come to know that FMA:B covers in 10 episodes what FMA covered in a lot more episodes. And, I did almost drop it, but, I didn't, and what I got was something that was a master-work in story-telling, character, dialogue and screenplay. Steins;Gate-The first few episodes are convoluted. Half the time I didn't know what was going on. But, as the episodes went on, the plot became clearer, the characters were great, and the storytelling was phenomenal. And now, this is my fourth favourite anime ever. Boku no Hero Academia-The reason is pretty dumb, actually. The protagonist was kind of whiny, and the anime seemed generic. But, as the episodes progressed, it became apparent that this was gonna be the next big shounen anime(it probably already is), and right now, it's my favourite on-going anime. Honourable Mentions: One Piece(because of the poor animation quality and other issues which I can't exactly remember) Higurashi no Naku Koro ni(because of the first two episodes which kinda seemed weird and moe-ish, and I didn't really get used to the performance of the voice actors). Mirai Nikki(because of the seemingly monotonous pacing, and the wanna-be edgy tone of the initial episodes)
  17. Good to see you here. And, welcome.
  18. WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD. Episode 20 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is the second episode in the adaptation of Naruto Gaiden, which follows the story of Sarada as she tries to understand her real parentage. In this episode, Sasuke has a little encounter with Shin Uchiha and over-powers him, forcing him to leave. Then, we see Sarada going to meet Naruto to ask about Sasuke, but as she is about to enter, Naruto discusses meetign with Sasuke regarding a scroll he got from him, informing him about the presence of another Uchiha. She, along with Cho-Cho, who is under the impression that Sarada is trying to her help find her own parents, follow Naruto, before being attacked by the same mysterious Uchiha. Naruto saves them and fends them off, and he decides that it's best for them to stay with him. Here and there, Naruto and Sarada have various discussions, particularly about her father. Finally, as they approach the place where Sasuke is supposedly present, they all take a break. Not being able to take a break, Sarada goes on her own, and overcome with intense emotions, she awakens her Sharingan. When she arrives at Sasuke's place, she is over-joyed, but, Sasuke mistakes her for one of Shin's comrades and proceeds to attack her. I thought this episode was one of the best in the series, and the reason for that is the pacing. Nowhere did it seem like the anime was padding for run-time. My favourite scenes include Sasuke and Naruto, on separate occasons, fighting the Uchiha boy, and when Naruto gives a description of Sasuke to Sarada during their journey. The animation is also better than the last episode, which had a lot of errors(like Naruto not having his bandages on his right arm). And, the episode also had a sense of real conflict. The background score was pretty good(though it reminded me of earlier Naruto/Naruto: Shippuuden scores, which is not a bad thing, since I consider it to be the best score in all of anime). Score: 8/10.

  20. Welcome to the forum, Solveig. Hope you have a great time here.
  21. Well, I checked kissanime's website itself, and it says the opposite. Anyway, I'm not gonna donate, so I don't care, but, I hope other people don't. They have to realise that a single website can't have an unusually large library of anime like this.
  22. I did use KissAnime quite a bit for some time, and here are my thoughts: As you mentioned, they don't have their own hosts and they use hosts like OpenLoad, Google. I went through Reddit quite a bit, and people seem to prefer BetaServer. Regarding Patreon, it seems like the kiss sites don't own it. I'm pretty sure about this. When I was using, there wasn't any ads. But, yeah, there's a lot of ads now. The problem arises when anime are unlicensed, you know. Higurashi season 1's license expired for quite sometime, and season 2 was never licensed, so, I had to rely on fan-subs. A couple of years ago, it was picked up by Sentai Filmworks. The thing that matters is that, directly or indirectly, they are hosting licensed content without the consent of the ones who own the license and other concerned people, for free, without paying any sort of fee. So, in my opinion, this does qualify as illegal.
  23. It'd have to be Makise Kurisu from Steins;Gate. She became instantly like-able to me. Maybe because she's extremely intelligent, or because she's good at banter, or because she's the only tsundere I've ever liked. She's probably my favourite female anime character, apart from Seirei no Moribito's Balsa.
