  1. Nah, Jason Statham is where it's at
  2. I think that's what you call a "story". You know, a Cinderella "story", for example. I enjoyed a Sleeping Beauty Story (Passengers) enough to buy it. I don't think modernization is bad. Most everyone is capable of distinguishing a classic from a "story inspired by the classic" and there's nothing wrong with dreaming up a different way to tell the story. I consider it a sort of homage to the classics.
  3. All the time... This one was more a picture of the ocean, flat as a lake, but the sky made a nice contrast. This one with the sun hiding just behind the foliage. One of my favorites...multiple hues of blue, that make a perfect background for my favorite tree (the pines). Then...during the storm...or rather, before the storm, in the outer bands. It was too dark for pictures when the hurricane finally hit.
  4. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I imagine it would follow the plot of the Broadway musical. I think the next Maleficent is supposed to follow the darker side of her story.
  5. Well, it really depends. Stand-alone movies are good, but many movies attached to an anime series are there purely for fan service, so if you are looking for anything deeper than a recap of the season's conquests (aka, how each girl joined the harem, SAO I'm looking at you), or a beach day designed solely to get all the girls in coconut shell bras (ala Familiar of Zero), or...something of similar design, you are in for a let down. Many older series avoided that with actual interesting storylines in their movies (Tenchi, Sailor Moon, and Cardcaptor immediately spring to mind...mostly), but I don't enjoy the newer ones. I got the PsychoPASS movie and didn't enjoy it, mostly because it centered on a character I wasn't interested in though the story was decent itself. @Ohiotaku got that one right for sure. I guess it depends on why the movie was made first, and who the story centers on second.
  6. @Xyro you could fit another row in there ...
  7. @Xyro I'll never grow tired of that game either!
  8. Welcome to the forums I'd recommend Ah! My Goddess (romance), Outlaw Star (Space Opera/Seinen (aimed at older men)), Puella Magi Madoka (magical girl)....just to start out.
  9. Welcome to the forums @FeelsGudManINC there's a lot of anime out there, and whether you watch s little or a lot, you are still welcome here.
  10. Welcome to the forums @NapHime A nap actually sounds divine right now... I do the Zooniverse Planet 9 project from time to time. It is fun but takes a lot of time.
  11. Welcome to the forums
  12. I wasn't a fan but I will say the Green Power Ranger was extremely popular st a con I went to. He attracted crowds close to the size that Shatner did, which boggled my mind. But, I wasn't a fan.
  13. I don't rent movies either. Returning them on time is such a hassle, I'd rather just use Netflix or Hulu or buy it if I'm that interested.
  14. Been playing a new game in Stardew Valley the last few days. I'm sick today. My goal is to max out my foraging early on, and play more with that mindset
  15. Locally here...not much. Best Buy, a second hand bookstore, Barnes and Noble (I never buy from them), and another store in a mall. I buy most online or at cons these days. Better deals usual.
  16. I don't see the similarities between Dragonball and Naruto but, if you are worried about recycled ideas (or tropes as we tend to call them) watch some older anime from the 70s and 80s. They were all fresh back then
  17. Maybe I'm just getting old, but you're going to have to translate that for me.
  18. Youtubers in general get a lot of crap. In the anonymity of the internet, hateful people unleash their fingers in a tempest of obnoxious fury every day. If you really want to be a Youtuber, grow a thick skin and don't read the comments. The likes and subscribers number is all that matters.
