I am a smoker (2 a day and no more). I realize that it may not make sense to people why others smoke .Personally I only smoke because it helps me sleep as I have trouble sleeping during the night and i readily fall asleep during the day I have tried many different techniques to remedy this and the only one that works for me is getting inebriated before I sleep it makes me wake up at around 5:30 bright eyed and bushy tailed . I smoke because it helps me sleep without loosing my liver or getting on the wrong side of the law . I cant take sleeping pills as they have a bad effect on me and cause me to be sick when i wake as well as muddling my mind for the next two or three days . In south Africa smoking laws keep people from smoking in indoor spaces with the exception of smoking areas in restaurants and private properties and advertising is banned . I grew up with a mother who smokes and a grandmother who smokes (My family lives together as a "clan" i guess) my father was a chain smoker but I only saw him occasionally throughout my life , the little research that i have done on smoking says that for each generation of successive smokers the child is as much as 10% more inclined to be a smoker (per generation) as it is (oddly) a gene that can be passed on through the parents and if both parents are smokers the child is likely to be more than 60% inclined to smoking . Putting this all into account the likelihood that I would not be a smoker is less than 25% . and unfortunately combined with my personality I ended up smoking. I have no regrets though and I believe that it does not define or even contribute , more than a little side note , to who I am as a person.
It has no effect on my health as i use a tobacco pipe (bong) to reduce the effects on my lungs and in fact as I have chronic sinus problems it keeps my nose clear and in good condition for use , I exercise regularly as well so that also helps keep me in check .

I'm currently looking for my first full time position and I'm a little nervous about it , the interview is what i would consider the easiest part as being a musician performance is one of my strong points , I am very good at convincing people to do what I want plus I'm extremely lucky for some unknown reason , the part I'm most worried about is what I should go into I have loads of experience in admin and in retail but I am hesitant to go straight into an administrative position full time.
Any words of advice/encouragement would be greatly appreciated

I have taught myself a bit of Japanese and learned a lot through anime and I am hopping to start a Japanese language course in the next few months ii can hold an introductory conversation and know a few useful phrases but other than that I'm completely useless , tho I do tend to pick up a whole lot of errors it subs in anime I watch which irritates me to the point where I have to stop watching some times or put the subtitles off and watch raw I understand most of it just a few of the less common words confuse me so I end up putting the subs back on.

I have made a few and am close with a group of editors that have sadly stopped working a few years ago but what i do know is that you mus always concentrate your impact shots with the drums and usually transitions work best on the base that said you need to find a song that calls out to you and if you are doing a fight amv you will want to pick a fight that has an impact on you , the most important thing is not to rush it as it takes time and a lot of hard work the I personally slower paced amv's harder as you need to find scenes that are slow enough to fit the fast paced ones may take longer but in the end they turn out easier as they have a lot of room to work with the main problem with the fast pace is the timing on your transitions which you will soon get a hold of and dont forget that impact scenes can be used as 'fillers by doubling the *pre-punch (when a character is about to attack their motion before can be repeated to enhance the effect of the attack making it more of a focal point

Hey all I have recently felt like watching something so scary that makes me want to look away I would greatly appreciate help from you all , I have seen Another and although it was quite thrilling in its suspense the actual "Horror" side of it was somewhat lacking so I am not quite happy putting it in the horror genre , I am looking to find something truly horrific to watch and am looking forward to your recommendations

I always found keeping up with commitments quite easy , for the mundane things you just find a rhythm and it always helps to have at least half an hour a day to do something physical , I've taken to basketball recently but I'm getting back into boxing again .for those little things that don't happen too often like functions and what not i write reminders on my bathroom mirror with whiteboard markers that way you can't forget because your reminded daily also leaving little reminders in places you often go or on things you use often is a great help.
Hope I could help at least a little.

I am pretty surprised no one has said anything about Hajime no Ippo (Boxing) or Kuroko no Baske (Basketball) but then again i haven't seen some of these other anime mentioned ,I will have to take a look at them . I highly recommend Hajime to any fans of full contact sport and Kuroko is also on my recommend list .

These are all pretty cool. I hope more people decide to post in this thread. I wish more people would post in the culture section.
I'm actually looking to move to japan in a few years (after i complete my teaching degree up to high school level [...aand get the money ]).
Teaching in south Africa pays next to nothing and depending on where you work , can be pretty dangerous . On top of that there's almost no leave

Hey all
I was introduced to Japanese culture by my mother who has a black belt in ninjutsu so the cultural influence was there from the day i was born but i only started to watch anime when i was about 9-10 years old back when it had a dedicated channel here in South Africa and a little before that when it was on a children's daytime slot on Mnet , i only got 'serious about anime when i was 13 thanks to my older step brother who had started watching Naruto , which i was instantly hooked on . Other than that my family is very multi-cultural and multi-racial we have dark chocolate to vanilla ice cream and everything in between so i was always exposed to the many cultures of the world but out of all of them i find the Japanese culture and language to be the most beautiful

hi there
I'm Josh but you can call me yuuki or radosian (preferably yuuki) . I am an anime enthusiast and a musician i love romance anime and fantasy anime I'm a metalhead and i play anything that has strings and i sing in about 5-6 different styles (somewhat of a musical genius [yeah I know "this guy is full of himself"]) as most musicians I love attention and as an otaku I love not only anime and manga but also the Japanese culture and language .
I hope to have a good friendship with you all
