  1. Nah not the issue here. They literally just made the anime before the manga was even remotely complete, so they wind up ending at a really lackluster point with a huge cliffhanger. Otherwise though they nailed what they did have to adapt.
  2. In the case of this one, just read the manga. The anime goes nowhere meaningful unfortunately. It isn't bad at adapting what it does adapt, but if you're looking for a romance the anime won't deliver. The manga however, wil deliver MORE than enough.
  3. Asagao to Kase-san (the absolutely perfect thing you're looking for.) Hourou Musuko (technically a straight romance, but has a young trans main character. It's very well made.)
  4. Very clearly a well made song. And french too, which is cool. 9/10, SHAFT don't mess around when making Monogatari lol. Violet Evergarden - Theme of Violet Evergarden
  5. In a lot of cases, it isn't the fact that it's too much, just that a lot of people take it WAY too seriously. It's a prime example of a "dumb fun" show and that's basically what it was made as. Watch it as one, it delivers Watch it for a deep story and engrossing plotpoints you're just... doing it wrong XD
  6. I agree with all but Angel Beats. I agree it shoulda been longer, and I think that was the initial plan, but shit happened so it couldn't. So taking that into consideration, and still being a tad annoyed about not every character getting an arc, I think they handled it more than well enough. But back to my stuff. Danmachi is an absolutely terrible anime. Thoughts here. Cross Ange was awesome. Kimi no na wa was good, but I've seen a ton of stuff that's far better, and overall, it wasn't all that special really. And 5cm per Second looked nicer. Hourou Musuko is a bloody fantastic anime and more people need to watch it. Most people just... won't watch it. Mecha is a large and diverse genre, and doesn't deserve the TONS of blatantly uninformed hatred it gets.
  7. Any time mah dood I'll bite, what's your discord username? ;D I enjoy me some anime talks.
  8. Please hyperlink your music rather than embedding it. Simply copy the link you want, highlight some text, and hit the chainlink icon on the toolbar.
  9. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2018-09-07/gaina-announces-uru-in-blue-anime-for-2022-new-top-o-nerae-3-anime-project/.136482 So yeah, the third installment of the buster series just got announced, and I dunno about you, but this is wonderful news, as both Gunbuster and Diebuster were awesome (though awesome in totally different ways) and if you haven't seen them, I highly suggest you do that. Gunbuster was initially released in 1988, with Diebuster following in 2004, both from Gainax, and both sporting vastly different styles and themes, as well as the plots taking place 10,000 years apart. This effectively means that you can watch either of them alone, or both of them in any order. Diebuster references Gunbuster a lot, but if you watch Diebuster first it just turns into Gunbuster referencing Diebuster so whatever works! ;D Ah, and avoid the compilation movie, it's just a compressed version of the already short halves. This third season is made by Gaina, which I suppose could describe as a spinoff of Gainax, and if you need any reason to get into the series before we get the third one, which I'm lovingly calling Tribuster till we get a proper name for it, all you need to know is this... Buster Beam Slice.
  10. Quite good. FLCL has always had pretty good music. 8/10 Birdy the Mighty DECODE - SIDE BIRDY
  11. Nevermind that all 3 of those words basically mean the same thing, how do you feel about them? Anime, and by extension, all entertainment media, is filled with clichés and the like. But are clichés always a bad thing? We always hear them as a thing to look down upon and that any form of media that lacks tropes and stereotypes is a good piece of media, but I believe that while being unique can be a great thing, it can jist as easily spell disaster for a show. I have a saying. "Clichés are not bad, poorly used clichés are bad." And I will probably always believe this. If you look at a show like My Hero Academia, whether you like it or not, its use of stereotypes and clichés are not its downfall. Even its setting isn't very unique. Amongst anime, sure, a world filled with superheroes is a rare find, but take a look at the west and look at all the Marvel and DC franchises that have been around for WAY longer. Clichés can easily be turned from bad into great, or even go from being bad to simply not ruining a scene. Imagine this: A romance anime, the main duo is alone by a river, about to confess and kiss for the first time. Then one of their phones goes off. NOW, how does this always get played out in anime, and has come to common knowledge to be known as a pain in the ass? They both get flustered, and there's no confession or kiss, and they miss the moment, and then the show ends. "Now go buy our manga!" says the anime. But imagine if it played out like this: One of their phones goes off, the other gets flustered, but the one with the phone simply chucks it into the river, confesses, and they kiss. Got all the nice dramatic OST going and all that. Something as simple ad that can turn one of the most annoying tropes in anime into a great and memorable moment that'll leave you satisfied. Though that being said, nobody has ever really done that to my knowledge. Hence why I've been saying "imagine" ('-' ) Anyhoo, long story short, I shall repeat. Clichés are not bad, poorly used clichés are bad, and while I absolutely despise poorly used clichés, I have absolutely no issue, and even greatly enjoy well used clichés.
  12. Not bad, unique sound to it. 7.5/10 AURA: Koga Maryuin's Last War - Bokura no Sekai (Video has lyrics, just gotta turn on CC)
  13. Ehh, I'm sure it needs some context. By itself it's not too special. 5/10 The End Of Evangelion - Komm Süsser Tod (An English song from a Japanese anime with a German name. Woot. Not to mention these maximum depression lyrics.)
  14. Katanagatari works for romance/adventure. Magic is debatable, but I think it'll work either way. Has a very unique art style, but the animation itself is top notch for sure, and it winds up working really well. https://sakugabooru.com/data/c1494c93f954846deb84e3ff6e0e63e9.webm https://www.sakugabooru.com/data/5f4f5311528f13a4cee6690a86949a65.webm
  15. Groovy. Very 80's lol. 6.5/10 Garo: Divine Flame - LEÓN THEME SHOUKAN
  16. I watch anime primarily to experience a story. I don't give a crap about what the story is about, so long as it's good at what it's trying to do. That's why I hate cliffhangers so much, because it's almost always a huge waste of time to me. Why start a story and then never get an ending? You wouldn't read your child a bedtime story and then never finish it. It's dumb. So really it can be any number of things that draw me towards an anime, but overall, I enjoy anime as a medium because it tells its stories in a way that nothing else does, which is especially true for action stuff. You'd be hard pressed to find a live-action equivalent to this.
  17. Haven't seen this myself, and twig will slap me for recommending it in their place, but Demi-chan wa Kataritai is supposedly very good. Another decent one is Ano Natsu de Matteru, though it's a biiiit of a stretch. A good romcom involving an alien. Just... try it it sounds weird but is good XD Be sure to stick around for the after credits scene of the last episode. Princess Tutu is a good mix of both light comedy and serious tones. If I had to say it'd be a lot more of a lighter tone than a serious tone, so it should work out. (Apologies twig, don't hurt me.) Binbougami ga! is a super great comedy that involes a lot of deities and gods and whatnot. Watch the dub, it makes it twice as funny. The plot is dumb but it doesn't matter since they pretty well know it. What makes this show particularly special though is that whole it is ABSOLUTELY predominantly a hilarious comedy, it also manages to hit you in the feelz a bit now and then, and it's a really nice mix. Hells. Is it serious? Is it a comedy? Shounen action? Who knows, but it takes place in Hell and covers like 300 episodes worth of content in roughly 2 hours and it has Helvis. Does it have serious moments? Yeah. Does it have silly moments? Yeah. It has bloody everything but it blazes past so quickly there's barely any time to process it all and it's just fun. A lot of fun. I can't even say this movie is good but I love it to death anyways.
  18. Not a bad rock track, I can see it being cool. Sounded oddly like a pokemon gym theme at one point, maybe I'm just losing it though. 7/10 Happy Sugar Life OP
  19. Very nice track. Well made overall. 8/10 Bartender - Kami no Glass
  20. Better than I expected it to be. Even with the wanker. 7.5/10! Senki Zesshou Symphogear AXZ - Winds of Axia (Aka, Massive Tone Shift: The Song)
  21. Ehh, it's okaaaaay? 4/10 Flip Flappers - Let's Flip Flapping!
  22. Ah Diebuster, good song all around. 9/10! It's no Groovin' Magic tho Noir - Salva nos
  23. I just realized lol. Slow down the posts XD One of the thread rules is to not respond to the person that rated your song, so as to allow a broader mix of people, rather than just 2 people going at it forever, for example.
