One easy internet privacy tip is; use multiple email accounts. So that you have one email account for every lets say 4 or 5 websites (if you don't have many accounts one email per account would even work) so if one gets compromised you don't have to change the email settings for so many websites. The maintainance of this many emails accounts is actually fairly easy, if you use some kind of desktop email app that lets you read email without a traditional browser (like thunderbird). For example, I use newsboat (for the command line on linux) that allows me to merge the emails of multiple accounts, so I only have one (local) password to read the email of all of my email addresses.

Use different email providers (I often use protonmail and tutanota, though also have some outlook email addresses as throwaway accounts). Doing all that once takes some time but is neither hard nor actually that complicated.

      Disappointed that this didn't happen:

  3. I've chosen a few ab exercises to add to my daily fitness routine on top of my 20,000 steps, leg lifts, stretches, & free weights. I decided to start with planks. Now why I chose to do such a hellish thing to myself is beyond me but..oh, wait, wait, that's right...this is all because I decide to join the fitness challenge at work that goes from now until the end of October. Yes of course, how silly of me to forget. 🏋️‍♀️

Also, once you get better at planks (probably pretty fast too, if you're consistently doing it every day), you might want look into different variations of planks. They "vanilla" planks tend to get boring after some time (really, you either increase the time you do them which is boring, or add weights which is hard when you're alone).

My favorite is sidestepping with one leg at a time except that you don't touch the ground with one of your feet. Basically, you shift your center of gravity very far to one side. In order to not to fall over, your abs and obliques have to work even more. Hellish, but incredibly effective.

  5. Booted windows for the first time in months.

Asks me whenever I open any application, whether I want to update it, had to repair drive C:\ for some reason on start up, slow as hell, and has now been updating win 10 for almost 1 1/2 hrs. Time is incorrect and I have to fix it from my *Linux* which I dualboot. (other solutions on the net didn't work)

I never had the chance to do disable any of that.... Now I remember why I don't use windows, lol.

  6. My brother just sent me this... :)

  7. Well, friend of mine with who I had a lot of contact at the beginning of the week is getting tested for Corona because some of his relatives have it. If he's tested positive, I'll be under quarantine until the 24th. (not that much would change, though....)

Thanks, I will probably still have to do assignments and the online courses, so no vacation for me haha.

Thanks. Unfortunately they still use the older test kits that take up to 2 days to get a result... so yeah. At least there doing more and more tests here, although by far not enough, unlike Italy a month ago or the US currently.

  9. yay, my country is probably going into a total lock-down by the end of the week. Though, rationally many more countries, which have infected people by now will eventually reach a similar situation.

Also, started to have a sore throat...

@RuthisianCodex Thanks! I don't think it's anything serious. First of all, if kind of gets better and worse by the hour and I didn't really have to cough. Also, I  had no contact with a known case or with anyone who come from a risky region like Italy.

@Illusion of Terra If everyone here gets sick, will AF be under quarantine?

  10. Starting to prepare for a trip that I've been planning with two friends for the last month (Surprising, actually, didn't expect to travel this year).

Going to visit Oman in the first week of September (actually the first time that I travel outside of Europe). Looking forward to it, especially the many, many old castles!

@LonelyPoet Well... going to Oman by car probably isn't the best idea XD, but I've heard renting a car in Oman to get around is pretty common since, escpecially in summer, the sun is some kind of deadly lazer, lol.

  11. After my Windows on my Laptop refusing to work for 1 week straight despite me and experts trying everything I/we could, (Still no idea why windows would never leave the boot menu) I decided to wipe the partition and give it to my trusty Fedora 30...

Loosing all my music, wallpapers, saves and photos I ever took is a hard blow but at least I back-up-ed everything important. (Should have done that with everything though....)

Yeah -  a few years ago I though encrypting it was smart... for some reason I don't even understand myself anymore. Considering that it was wiped, and with it technically the encryption too, I tried to do some Linux magic but so far I had not success. I'll check out what you have posted. Messing with hard drives is usually dangerous, but since I gave the partition that had windows to my Linux I might be able to get some stuff. Thank you!

Do you have some kind of idea what I could do to restore it? These special tools?

Also, I had bitlocker activated, so everything is technically encrypted, so unless I have a method that also lets me drcrypt it ( I have the key after all) I think the chances might be even slimmer... After all, I couldn't mount the partition before wiping it, (apparently bitlocker won't let you enter any password unless you boot with the windows boot manager)
