  1. Wasn’t impressed as I felt it relied too much on gore & shock value. For something similar (samurai, demons, violent, tragedy) but done MUCH, MUCH BETTER, I recommend the 2019 version of Dororo.
  2. Started watching Beastars Final Season. Will finish up 2.5-jigen no Ririsa & Herbivorous Dragon 2 this week.
  3. Welcome Hope you find things to interest you here & decide to stick around
  4. I seem to have a weakness for demon girls -_-;
  5. Some series that had this effect on me from various genres: Vinland Saga (2 seasons) - historical, vikings Dororo (2019)- action, samurai, demons Fruits Basket remake (3 seasons) - drama, romance Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction (don’t watch episode 0 until after episode 16) - scifi, alternate timelines Figure 17 - scifi, action, slice of life Scrapped Princess - fantasy, mid-story twist
  6. Recently started watching Demon Lord 2099 & have a new A-lister in Machina Soleige

  12. Watched through episode 8 of Re:Zero season 3 (episode 1 was actually 3 times the length of a normal one). Was surprised at how easily I was able to get back into the story considering season 2 was almost 4 years ago & the size of it’s supporting cast. Definitely a lot going on with no less than 4 Sin Arch-bishops involved in the latest plot. Now waiting for next year for the season to continue. Watched the first couple episodes of Yakuza Fiancé, but didn’t really like the characters or the art, so doubt I’ll continue it. Also watched the first couple episodes of Nina, The Starry Bride and liking it better.

  14. Summer 2024 waifu contender carrying over to Fall 2024: former cosplay celebrity turned high school teacher & club advisor Mayuri Hanyuu from 2.5-jigen no Ririsa Guess I’ll mention Fuji from Goukon ni Ittara Onna ga Inakatta Hanashi as a potential husbando since she dresses as a guy for her part time job
  15. Supper tonight was grilled tilapia, pickled beets, a yeast roll & iced tea to drink.
  16. Watched the first Mononoke movie (Karakasa) on Netflix. It’s a follow up to the 2007 anime series which is a supernatural mystery (which itself was a follow up to the Bakaneko storyline in Ayakashi: Japanese Classic Horror (2006)). The most notable aspect is the psychedelic art style & animation. The story can be a bit hard to follow but i enjoyed it, probably because I enjoyed some other series with a similar setting/themes in recent years (Raven of the Inner Palace, Yatagarasu: The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master). There’s another movie in the works & sounds like it could be a sequel (Kame as a returning character?)
  17. Put up some outdoor Christmas decorations this morning since it’s supposed to be MUCH colder tomorrow & last until at least late next week. Will be at my sister’s for Thanksgiving this afternoon. Hope everyone here has a good day

  18. @Animedragon cool new background to your forum avy. Kind looks like an alchemy circle from FMA or at least rune-like. And the green background with red lettering in addition to looking cool fits well with the upcoming Christmas season.

Meant to post this to Animedragon’s profile page but didn’t realize my mistake until it was too late & won’t let me change or delete now <sigh> anyway …

Thank you. I felt that the old plain grey background was a bit boring and I thought the pattern looked sort of Celtish (is that a word?) and fitted in with the dragon.

It’s definitely more eye-catching & intentional or not more festive for the season. I’m not really an artistic person but know what I like when I see it.

  19. I understand Re:Zero season 3 is on hiatus until February, so will probably attempt to binge up to the current ep over the extended holiday weekend after the family gathering is over. No way I’m facing the Black Friday crowds, especially with temperatures expected to plummet.
  20. Meat: Ham (honey baked is a bit too sweet for me, prefer savory). My sister usually makes some bbq meatballs as well. Veggies: Green Beans, Pickled Beets or Mustard Greens Fruit: Pineapple (not cooked on top of the ham though), Orange slices , Apple slices (crisp & tart) Carbs: Rolls or Cornbread (not sweet), Mac & Cheese Drink: Tea (iced, somewhat sweet). Not really a fan of hot beverages. Dessert: Brownies (chewy), Chocolate Chip Cookies (hot from the oven), Gingerbread. Vanilla ice cream as a side or topping. Snacks: Popcorn
  21. I’m pretty much in agreement with @Wickett post above. I’d also point out that many popular early isekai actually had female protagonists (Fushigi Yuugi, Vision of Escaflowne, Magic Knight Rayearth). Then there’s series like Nana & the original Fruits Basket. And of course there’s no reason why girls/women can’t enjoy shonen or seinen series too. As to whether it’s a “good” or “bad” thing, the majority of those I see complaining are ones fixated on ecchi & hentai. As far as I’m concerned, the more variety in anime the better. I actually enjoyed series like A Place Further Than the Universe, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken & Arte. The current trend in “Villainess” anime doesn’t have the best track record with me, but no worse than the typical modern isekai.
  22. Cloudy but temps might make it to 60F But they’re predicting an extended cold streak after Thanksgiving
  23. I enjoyed the first season & the first arc of season 2 (Hidden Inventory/Premature Death). I did not like the 2nd arc (Shibuya Incident) because they slaughtered/incapacitated too many of the most interesting characters and the quality of the art/animation was very inconsistent. My favorite characters are Aoi Todo (male) & Nobara Kugisaki (female)
  24. Just bought a ticket to see the Daft Punk & Leiji Matsumoto anime rock opera Interstella 5555 at the movies next month. Just hope the weather co-operates (no snow storm, sleet, etc.)
