  2. I think Boruto is supposed to be Naruto's son. Not sure how much of the series focuses on their relationship though. Also, it's been awhile since I saw it but I think Captain Harlock - Endless Odyssey (titled Space Pirate Captain Herlock in the US) has the title character acting as a father figure to a boy after his father/grandfather is killed. The Boy & The Beast is a anime movie that focuses heavily on father/son relationships Though not actually related (as far as we know) My Hero Academia's Midoriya's relationship to All Might seems like father/son in many ways There's also the manga Lone Wolf & Cub, though in that series the son is still a infant/toddler
  3. My all-time favorite series. Don't actually consider it a space opera though. Those usually seem to have a grander and more epic scale, whereas the crew of the Bebop are just outcasts living on the fringes trying to figure out how to get rich or at least find their next meal, while dealing with the complications of their pasts another one of my all time favorites. It's actually very different from the original series, making it much more than just a remake. I actually burned out on the series fairly early into the Chimera Ant arc, but would like to revisit it someday Not sure if it's considered a classic or not. It's definitely different than your typical anime but I can see it not appealing to everyone. I enjoyed the original for it's quirky cast of characters but considered it's follow up (0) to be too heavy/depressing, even though the original had it's dark side as well. Haven't seen the movie yet, but just signed up for a free trial of Amazon Prime and it's on my list to watch before it runs out. Again, stands out as being different than most anime. Hope to have the opportunity to finish it someday. Personally I consider this one to be overrated. Would kinda like to check out the follow up movies, but not sure if I would want to rewatch the original series to refresh my memory. Meh. Not really sure if I finished this one or not, so obviously it didn't make much of an impression on me. Just not my thing. Another unique series I enjoyed and feel that it definitely deserves to be considered a classic. Not impressed by the various live action remakes/spin offs though and doubt I would ever rewatch. Haven't seen it and not real high on my list of prospects. Sincerely doubt it could ever dethrone Azumanga Daioh as my own personal GOAT SoL series
  4. Just watched the first 4 episodes of Dororo. Pretty good, but unlikely to overtake Shield Hero as my favorite for the season
  5. Not scheduled to start airing until April And not sure what sites will have it
  6. Preview of the 2nd cour(WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS) Looks like some flashbacks to Raphtailia's past before meeting Naofumi and the kingdom declares all out war on the Shield Hero And here I thought I coudln't be more HYPE
  7. Cold as opposed to hot. Sweetness and flavoring depends on what I'm having with it and my mood. Usually I like it somewhat (but not overly) sweet, but if I'm eating something that's already sweet with it, sometimes I'll drink it with no sweetener or sugar whatsoever. I also like Tradewinds Raspberry & Snapple Peach, especially when it's hot oustide
  8. My general preference is for subtitled over dubbed. The only dubbed anime I'm watching at present is Space Battleship Yamato (Star Blazers) 2202. I primarily started listening to it dubbed through Funi's site because I wanted to show as much support as possible for their decision to rescue it and do right by it after Voyager botched the previous release (Now I just wish Funi would do a remaster of the original series or at least the movies). I actually think the dub is quite good, but there may be some nostalgia as well since the Americanized original series was my gateway to anime. Most dubs aren't what I would actually call "bad", but the Japanese voice actors usually seem to put more emotion into their performances IMO. I haven't had time to try Shield Hero's dub and probably won't any time soon. As far as the OP, yeah it's really good. Over on CR's forums a bunch of members have our own awards we nominate series for each season in different categoris & Shield Hero is getting my vote for best OP. I've noticed that a lot of OP & ED incorporate English lyrics. I think they mainly do it because they think it makes it sound cooler , though sometimes they sound kinda awkward
  9. Not really. While it does incorporate religious symbolism and psychological jargon, personally I thought it was more interested in being controversial/shocking than insightful/deep. Another series for myself: I've never been able to finish a single series from the Gundam franchise. Iron Blooded Orphans was probably the one I came closest to (almost finished the first season). Whatever it is about these series that appeal to it's fans, it just doesn't click with me.
  10. The season is listed as having 25 episodes. I'm not sure if there will be a week break between cour or not.
  11. As far as NGE, I have seen it including End of Evangelion and thought it was alright, but not really my type of series. I was kind of interested in thr remake movies, but it’s been so long since the last one, I’m starting to think it’s just a waste of time. As far as SAO, more than anything I see comments on how over rated people think it is  I wound up dropping it during Alicization, but honestly I didn’t think the previous seasons were that great either.
  12. The one that immediately comes to mind for me is Puella Magi Madoka Magica. I started watching, but only got to about episode 3, before I lost interest. I do intend to watch in full someday. Another would be Fate/Stay Night. I rhink I made it to around episode 6 on that one. I do have a question: Is Unlimited Bladeworks essentially the same as the original series & would I miss anything by skipping the original and starting with UBW?
  13. Alot of them were just 12 for the season that’s wrapping up. And I remember some recents that were just 10 (Recovery of an MMO Junkie and both seasons of Konosuba). While the shorter seasons are ok for SoL and comedies, anything with a larger story really needs at least 25 or so to not feel rushed IMO.
  14. Man, I hope this makes it way to America

  15. They actually do seem to go a bit overboard making a lot of the characters act like total ass hats, but "Haters gonna hate, yo"
  16. You may want to check out Noir & Madlax. Gun Gale Online too. And of course girls with tanks (Girls und Panzer)
  17. Yet the first thing to come to my mind is the Jackie Chan Adventures cartoon series
  18. Sorcerer Hunters? Spice & Wolf? Here's mine: A secret organization tries to kill a guy for putting bananas in a microwave
  19. I just finished the 3 episode OVA for Hi Score Girl. The note it ended one was much more satisfying than the main series. Actually looking forward to season 2 more now..

    Pets

Dogs have always been a big part of my life, especially growing up. Back on the farm it wasn't unusual to have 4 of them at a time. While they were all family dogs, each one seemed to bond with a particular "hooman" in the family. Some were rescue dogs, but a lot of them were just strays that no one claimed. Currently I only have the one yellow lab. She just turned 12 recently and unfortunately has started having health problems. Primarily a lack of mobility.
  21. I'm Rooster apparently (had to look it up). Unfortunatley(?) the personality description sounds pretty much like my polar opposite
