  1. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2018-10-18/funimation-crunchyroll-end-content-sharing-partnership/.138330 Effective 11/9. List of affected titles forthcoming. HiDive taking Funimation Now's spot on VRV I was going to cancel my Funimation subscription when it ran out next month, but guess I'll keep it after all. I'm glad Funi will make the subtitled versions of more of their series available on their site since that's my preferred way to watch, but I really don't like Funimation Now's site navigation
  2. I actually enjoyed the "game world" half of the first episode, the real world half ... not so much -_-; I was initially thrown by the young version of Kirito, but when they explained part of the new technology was not only a more immersive game world, but where years can pass while a much shorter time passes in the real world it seemed to make a bit more sense. I actually put the series on hold after the first ep  I do intend to watch at least some more, but not a priority since I'm not a fan of the franchise and besides the new season's other shows, there are several Netflix series I want to watch too (Dragon Pilot, 7 Deadly SIns: Return of the Commandments & Castlevania season 2 leater this month)
  3. That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime - favorite aspect at the moment are the humorous personality traits they've been giving the various monster races Xuan Yuan Sword Luminary - flawed but still liking the sisters' characters Golden Kamuy Season 2 - still a wild ride, but hoping things get a bit more serious soon & the focus gets back on the Sugimoto and Asirpa Zombie Land Saga - 2nd ep wasn't as funny as the first, but will hopefully remain at least somewhat funny for the entire season Miss Vampire Who Lives in my Neighborhood & Anima Yell - my requisite CGDCT series of the season Gegege no Kitaro & Muhyo & Roji's Bureau of Supernatural Investigations - providing the proper atmosphere for Halloween
  4. Favorite Drinks: Tradewinds Sweet Tea, Hawaiian Punch or the Gatorade equivalent, Sunny D (Tangy). Don't drink a whole of carbonated stuff, but Coke is my favorite cola, Favorite Foods: MEAT!!! I tend to prefer pork over beef, but probably eat more poultry (chicken & turkey) than anything, particularly chicken because it can be cooked/served so many different ways. I like some seafood, but it has to be cooked right & I don't do sushi. Grains/starches for me are usually some form of pasta or rice and of course french fries. Vegetables: don't really like all that many (would be healthier if I did) but faves are corn, pickled beets, green beans or mustard greens seasoned with bacon. Fruits: I like most, but prefer things on the tart/sour side as opposed to being overly sweet. Snacks: I don't have much of a sweet tooth & actually have to be cautious around a lot of baked goods & candy because I have a pretty severe food allergy to tree nuts (peanuts are fine though). I have a weakness for salty things so : chips of course, but also Cheezits, Ritz Crackers, pretzels & popcorn (especially with white cheddar)
  5. Blood C, maybe? It's notorious for being one of the goriest anime out there & has a female protagonist who turns out to be inhuman.
  6. Smoker from One Piece comes to mind And an image search says the picture is from Redline
  7. I would say Princess Resurrection probably qualifies, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. And I just finished the first episode of Zombie Land Saga and thought it was hillarious. Will be a challenge to keep it fresh for a whole season though.

  9. Figured I'd post my ballot for the Summer 2018 Season from CrunchyRoll since it does a pretty good job of summarizing what I watched and my opinion http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-1024856/-summer-2018-anime-awards-#57812838
  10. My apologies on the image, upon further investigation, it appears to be a particularly well done piece of fan art by someone trying to ship Bakugo & Uraraka. I'd actually seen several other similar images of them in their formal attire promoting the movie so I thought it was legit. And actually I think it would have been a good montage to play at the end. Of course it would have to take place after everyone had a chance to clean things up, but it would have been an opportunity to give the side characters some more screen time & in a setting that the tv series actually hasn't explored (a formal dance); Once again, I'm not telling anyone who's a fan to not see the movie, I'm just saying don't expect to be blown away or anything (a lot of my own disappointment is probably a result of being over-hyped for it). Likewise, if you'd never seen the series before & are thinking of passing on it because the movie didn't seem that great, the series is much, MUCH better.
  11. My impressions: Afraid I have to say I'm a bit underwhelmed. The movie wasn't bad per se, but really didn't do anything that the tv series hasn't already done better Was kinda entertaining to see a younger All Might working with a partner, but was disappointed we didn't his see his mentor/predecessor or him interacting with younger versions of characters like Aizawa, Endeavor or Grand Torino. Bakugo & Mineta offered up some laughs by being true-to-form & most of Class 1-A made appearances, but a lot just as background characters. I was surprised they didn't do more with Tsuyu since she's something of a fanfavorite. The new girl, Melissa is nice & cute (especially with her glasses on ), but can't compete with Uraraka. Probably my biggest disappointment was the quality of the animation, which is where you would normally expect a big screen version to shine. There were several scenes where the characters faces are drawn in an overly simplistic style, making them look more like sketches than finished artwork, and not in a way where it feels like it was to set a tone. Of course there's a big freak'n CGI monstrosity for the final batlle, but I've already stated elsewhere I don't equate CGI with instant epicness. In closing, if you've never watched My Hero Academia, I can't really recommend the movie as your first exposure as it really didn't bring out the series best qualities. If you're already a fan (like myself) , there's enough here to keep you mildly entertained, but don't expect anything comparable to All Might vs All-for-One or for that matter Deku/Todoroki/Iieda vs Stain. on a side note: was this scene actually in the movie? I sat all the way through the end credits, but never saw it
  12. I'm going to see it tonight. It's the subtitled version & a weeknight, so I don't know how many other people will be there, but really looking forward to it. Will update afterwards.
  13. Melacholy of Haruhi Suzimiya - "God" is a japanese schoolgirl. Maybe an overstatement, but she can alter reality to suit her whims without even realizing it.
  14. A Place Further than the Universe - a group of high school girls go on an expedition to Antarctica, learning about friendship and not giving up on your dreams (highly recommended) Yuru Camp - very funny & cute show about girls enjoying the great outdoors Flying Witch - charming slice-of-life series Some older series: Magic Knight Rayearth - older show about junior high girls on a quest to save a fantasy world (some romance in the first season, but not central to the story. a bit more in the second season) R.O.D. tv series - the main characters are all female, most of whom have the ability to manipulate paper in different ways the ova series has quite a bit of fanservice).
  15. Just watched the first 4 episodes of RErideD on CrunchyRoll. There's some nice visuals & at least the makings of a decent scifi story here, but the narrative isn't real coherent and a lot of it is just implausible Whether I continue to watch it after the season officially starts will largely depend on how many other series I decide to follow. On a side note, I doubt the villain's resemblance to Donald Trump is purely co-incidental
  16. In addition to what I mentioned in my earlier post, I've resumed watching Angolmois & Cells at Work after some of the backlog series I tried (Luck & Logic, A Certain Magical Index, Maria the Virgin Witch) failed to hold my interest. I'm also watching the occasional episode of New Game when I'm in need of some CGDCT.
