I don’t believe the first 2 OVAs are licensed in the US. I watched them on Youtube, but the picture was only about a third of the screen and terrible quality. I was hoping they would be extras on season 2 or 3 disc release, but nope. A shame because I enjoyed them both. I haven’t seen the 3rd OVA. I suppose the movie really wasn’t that bad, it just didn’t feel all that special because the awesomeness of the tv series spoiled me. I was also feeling over hyped because it was the first time I’d seen a non-Ghibli anime in a theater. Edit: seems I was wrong. Don’t see the third OVA listed as an extra either.

Episode 8 Ok, now this episode seemed to do everything right. Maybe it just took some time to find it’s groove. And I whole heartedly agree with Kohaku’s opinions of Senku

Who is your favorite quintuplet from quintessential quintuplets
Ohayotaku replied to cose1321's topic in Anime Discussion
I liked what I saw of her, unfortunately season 1 didn’t advance her past the genki girl stereotype and didn’t seem to treat her like a legitimate contender. I think they only dedicated half an episode to her and it didn’t seem well executed which irked me. I imagine the whole mistaken identity angle probably worked better in the manga where the differences in appearances wouldn’t be as noticeable. My biggest criticism of the anime is how they kept using that but executed it so poorly (she’s wearing headphones, so it must be Miku; wearing a ribbon must be Yotsuba even though the hair colors and styles were nothing alike) -
I’m pretty much in agreement with @Musuko‘s points. Probably the biggest point for me is that a lot of movies fall into the ultra-dramatic tearjerker category which tends to be too heavy for me. Another point I’ll bring up is in a movie if you don’t like the main character/couple, you’re pretty much screwed since the limited run time means they’re generally front and center through out. There are numerous series where I actually prefer the side or supporting characters to the mains. A series can manage to give them enough attention scattered throughout and maybe an episode or 2 of their own. Generally a movie can’t do that. Advantages movies have over series: 1) Usually higher production values (animation, art, soundtrack) 2) Less of a time investment 3) More likely to get the attention of people who don’t usually watch anime 4) Less filler (though I personally feel that filler episodes can be very entertaining and sometimes even offer insight when they’re done right)

For me it’s something like 1. Ichika 2. Miku 3. Yotsuba 4. Itsuki 5. Nino I think I would’ve liked Yotsuba better except the anime seemed to spend less time developing her as a character than the others(like Yugiri from Zombie Land Saga). As that indicates, I really don’t like Itsuki & Nino at all. -

Due to the direction it seems to be heading I am putting If it’s for my Daughter I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord on hold. Probably dropping. Very disappointed.

If it’s for my daughter, I’d even Defeat a Demon Lord

Very disappointing. While it hasn’t crossed the line yet, the past 2 weeks have seen it walk steadily towards it to the point where I’m setting this series aside. If I see comments/reviews indicating that I’m wrong about the turn it’s going to take I’ll give it another chance, but pretty sure it’s not someplace I’m willing to follow. -
Just found out this series is actually by the same mangaka as Kengan Ashura & is supposed to take place in the same world. Totally different style of show though . Kure-sensei is the mother of one of Kengan Ashura’s characters

First was probably Nova from Starblazers (I wasn’t even a teen yet ) 2nd was probably Kiyone Makibi from Tenchi Universe

So far they’ve kinda portrayed Arthur as an idiot with a Don Quixote complex (considers himself to be a knight). I think the series has definite potential if they would do some world building and be more coherent with the narrative. But right now it seems more concerned with action sequences and looking cool. Also seems like they feel the need to include some fanservice every ep even when it feels out of place, which I’ve seen sone people complain about.

Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a Dungeon?
Ohayotaku replied to Firebolto!'s topic in Anime Discussion
As long as you watched the first season of Danmachi you should be fine without Orartorio. I hadn’t made any further progress since my last post , so I’m behind. First arc was a mixed bag for me. Liked the set up for it and the side story involving Lili, but the resolution of the Wargame could’ve been better IMO. Next arc sounds like it could be ecchi as Bell gets abducted by an amazon familia (gee, poor guy ) -

Sorry to go off topic but ... While I became aware of it being part of The Jungle Book collection of stories later, my first exposure was the Chuck Jones animated version when I was a kid. I remember it and The White Seal being much darker than the usual “cartoon”

Welcome to the forums Only Tavi I’m aware of is Rikki Tikki. Some of my favorite anime can be found on my profile page. I don’t have a problem starting a post, my problem is knowing when to stop (and editing it multiple times ) Hope you enjoy it here.

Finished Cannon Busters on Netflix last night. First impression was I liked the visual style and kinda funny (though with more profanity which is typical where there is an American influence). Story seemed to rely heavily on cliches, but thought it might be decent. Unfortunately, the further I got into it, the clearer it became it was more concerned with looking/acting cool than actually making sense. Also, the emotional moments didn’t have any real impact. And then ends on a “to be continued” note. Overall rating 5.5/10 (8 for coolness & visual style, 3 for story/character development)

I think what makes it stand out more than anything is how it was a battle of wits. For most people anime is generally characterized by very flashy fight scenes with over the top levels of violence and destruction ( Dragonball Z , Akira & Fist of the North Star). So Death Notes more cerebral style makes it stand out. But even though there’s not that much actual “action” it had a very dramatic art style that got your attention

Welcome to the forums MHA is definitely one of my all time favorite anime and am hyped for season 4 in October. Hope you enjoy it here.

The Ones Within (Naka no Hito Genome [Jikkyōchū])
Ohayotaku replied to Ohayotaku's topic in Anime Discussion
Episode 7 wound up watching the subtitled version since the dub wasn’t up. Hoping it’s just delayed instead of discontinued. Not a huge deal but it was one of the rare ones where I prefer the dub and it might be an obstacle for others.
