  1. Got current on Undead Murder Farce this evening. It’s certainly not afraid to name-drop: Holmes, Watson, Moriarty, Lupin, Fogg, Crowley, Frankenstein, Carmilla & Jack The Ripper.
  2. He’s a character that appeared in a couple episodes of The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated as part of a running joke. Madoka Magica pretty much established the connection between magical girls & witches.
  3. If you mean French animation, Ernest & Celestine is the first to come to mind. Anime with a French connection include: Radiant is an adaption of a French comicbook series (or manfra) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiant_(manfra) Maria the Virgin Witch, Case Study of Vanitas & Le Chevalier D'Eon are all set in France. And Joan of Arc has appeared as a character in numerous anime
  4. My suggestions for action horror with minimal to no fanservice would be Vampire Hunter D (2 movies), Castlevania, Sirius the Jaeger & Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. Ajin: Demihuman sounds like it borrows elements from Tokyo Ghoul, Parasyte & Elfen Lied, though I haven’t watched it yet. My own favorite horror series is Shiki & the only truly scary anime I’ve experienced (probably because it reminded me of the original Salem’s Lot miniseries which gave me nightmares when I was 10 years old). It is different from Hellsing in that is more centered on suspense than action, so more like Another. You might also want to check out Ghost Hunt & Ghost Hound.
  5. Male or female? I ask because you mentioned going as Tengen from Demon Slayer in another post. Hair color would be useful to know as well since you don’t want to use a wig.
  6. I watched through episode 4. To be honest the only reason I started it & stayed with it as long as I did was because the girls looked kinda cute Right now Mushoku Tensei is my isekai fix, albeit on a more serious side. Will probably finish Devil is a Part-Timer season 2 for something with a bit more humor. The first half of season 2 wasn’t that great but still enjoyable & I’m curious about some of the unanswered questions. I’m actually fine with series being silly as long as I actually find them funny or clever (good examples Iruma-kun, Campfire Cooking in Another World, Lvl 1 Demon Lord, Demon Lord Retry). But in the case of Helck I laughed more at episode 5 than in all the other episodes combined so far. And the promise that it gets better later isn’t that convincing when there are so many other series I’m finding more enjoyable in the short term. BTW you might also enjoy Reincarnated as a Sword, it does a pretty good job of balancing humor & more serious/darker elements similar to Skeleton Knight in Another World.
  7. MAL has season 1 at 7.24, season 2 at 7.36 (ongoing). Not at the top of my rankings but enjoyable enough I plan to stick with it. Not sure if season 2 will conclude the story or not though.
  8. Just to confirm that we’re talking about Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari, that’s my first pick. Combination of supernatural action but also some romance. 2nd would be Inuyasha. Currently I’ve only seen the first 54 episodes & the first movie, but do plan on watching more eventually. Just bear in mind it’s an older series & a fairly long one. As for the rest Helck - there are indications that it will eventually become more serious, but right now a lot of the focus is on comedy, most of which isn’t landing for me. Currently watching, but not sure if I’ll stick with it. Seija Musou: Salaryman, Isekai de Ikinokoru Tame ni Ayumu Michi - haven’t watched, not really planning too. Level 1 dakedo Unique Skill de Saikyou desu - watched some early eps but dropped. Pretty weak isekai IMO.
  9. Tomo Aizawa (Tomo-chan is a Girl) Ruka Urushibara (Steins Gate) Najimi Osana (Komi Can’t Communicate) Nobara Kugisaki (Jujutsu Kaisen)
  10. Back in the High Life Again by Steve Winwood remember listening to this one a lot while hanging out with my best friend during my last summer of highschool I Know Who Holds Tomorrow one of the songs I played accompaniment on the piano for my mom when she used to sing in church. She passed in 2017. The Living Years (Mike & The Mechanics) This one has always been powerful, even moreso since my dad passed away.
  11. Haven’t seen it. Finished Summer Time Rendering & consider it largely over rated. Now that’s finished, will be focusing on catching up on and/or sampling seasonals. JJK 2 is my favorite overall so far which isn’t really a surprise. Likewise Zom 100 is probably my favorite of the new stuff. I need to resume Sacrificial Princess & the King of Beasts since I really enjoyed the 1st cour. My biggest pleasant surprise of the season is Lvl 1 Demon Lord & One Room Hero which so far has been better in every way than the much more hyped Helck. Also enjoyed the giant cat anime more than I expected, though I’ve only seen the 1st ep so far. Dark Gathering being the biggest disappointment (just dropped it after 6 episodes). Plan on bingeing My Happy Marriage once the season is over. Likewise Undead Murder Farce seems to work better watching multiple episodes consecutively instead of trying to follow week to week.
  12. Seeing Coraline at the movies/cinema
  13. Welcome Hope you find things to interest you here & decide to stick around. I haven’t gotten very far into the original Inuyasha, but plan to watch more … eventually I did watch the first season of the sequel series (Yashahime), but didn’t really like it so didn’t bother with the 2nd season.
  14. Not really hanging out on AF much anymore & never did use PMs much anyway. Generally if it’s something too private to talk about in the public areas of the forum, it’s not a conversation I’m interested in having.
  15. I previously touched on this in my “What are you currently watching” post on 08/04/2023. Basically the first 5 episodes of season 2 are an extended flashback explaining why Getou went from being Satoru Gojo (blindfold guy) classmate & best friend to the main villain in the movie. Yuuji, Nobara & Megumi make a cameo appearance at the end of S2 Ep 5, so they should return in S2 Ep 6, though that doesn’t air till 08/31. So the timeline is: JJK S2 Eps 1 - 5 JJK 0 (movie) JJK S 1 JJK 2 Eps 6 -
  16. Currently watching Summer Time Render. Decent, but overhyped IMO.
  17. Just finished JJK S2 Ep5, which means it is now on hiatus for almost a month. Was not aware of this & kind of a bummer. But also kinda makes sense since these 5 eps were a prequel to the movie (JJK 0), which was a prequel to season 1. So when the series resumes, we should finally catch up with Yuuji, Nobara & Megumi (was glad they at least made a brief cameo in the post credit scene this week).
  18. One of the better new shows this year IMO, though I currently have it on hold after the 1st cour while I check out some other things. Honestly thinking of setting Helck aside unless the next ep changes my mind. It’s sense of humor isn’t working for me most of the time (kinda like Mashle from last season). And even though a more serious side of things is implied, I’m starting to lose patience. Likewise, not sure if I’ll stick with Dark Gathering. Of the new series this season Zom 100, Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero & Undead Murder Farce are probably the ones I enjoying most, though there are several others I haven’t sampled yet (taking things a bit slower on seasonals than I had recently)
