So, Crunchyroll is putting up the Kaguya-sama : Love is War movie this weekend, but they’ve divided it into 4 “episodes”. I just watched the first 2, the remainder is supposed to go up on Sunday. Please note that the story picks up immediately after the end of season 3.

Finished My Hero Academia 6 which went a long way in restoring my faith in the franchise by touching on many of the themes I felt had so much potential from the beginning & even tied together a lot of things from the disappointing seasons 4 & 5. Plus it seems like an endgame is finally in sight. Also In/Spectre season 2 which I honestly didn’t enjoy as much as season 1. It felt like they tried to cram a few too many twists into each mystery plus the resolutions always seemed to leave a sour taste. While I suppose that’s how the series differentiates itself, it’s still kind of a downer. My biggest disappointment though is the focus on the individual cases resulted in a lack of character development for the 3 mains (Kotoko, Kuro & Rika) and their relationship. Plus I missed Saki & the way she and Kotoko got on each others nerves.

The english title is The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World . I watched 3 eps before dropping. While I haven’t sworn off all new isekai, it just seemed too similar to what I’ve seen before. I still need to finish Eminence in Shadow. Looking forward to Re:Zero 3, Slime 3 & Mushoku Tensei 2 (that one’s pretty controversial because the MC is so pervy, but it does give the sense that he’s using his 2nd life to try & become a better person). Wish we’d get an update on Tanya the Evil season 2 ( sets itself apart from most other isekai with a World War I & II era setting instead of medieval, though magic does exist)

Apparently he does, although I watched the subtitled version. They did give him back the spikier hair in the final ep one of the things that made the original series memorable to so many fans was Vash changing from a bit of a buffoon to a more tragic character in the 2nd half. The new series abandons that in favor of trying to focus on a more serious story but gets into some metaphysical stuff & not real coherent at times. The fact is I was prepared to hate it but still feel like I need to give it it’s due. But now I kinda feel the need to revisit the original as well.

Lots of big announcements recently: Spy X Family season 2 scheduled to begin in October. Visually very good & also really like the Opening Song. But the characterizations seemed pretty generic & the story got more than a little complicated/confusing at the end. Decent overall. There’s supposed to be a continuation in the works to wrap things up but not sure if it will be another full season, a movie or Special Episodes like the Attack on Titan finale. Kinda want to rewatch the original to see how big a part nostalgia is for it’s reputation. The biggest difference is the big reveals of the original are presented in the first episode, so it doesn’t have the shift in tone.

Having finished Trigun Stampede (at least until we learn more about the continuation they have planned) I feel like I should rewatch the original series in the near future.

Looking forward to it as it’s one of the better modern isekai series even if there are parts of it I don’t fully grasp.

Planning to wrap up a number of seasonals this weekend (MHA6, Trigun Stampede, In/Spectre 2) & maybe start Kaina of the Great Snow Sea.

I personally didn’t find SG0 as enjoyable, but good luck. I would recommend watching the movie (Load Region of Déjà Vu) though which is a sequel to the original series if you haven’t already seen it.
