Hospital called. Mom’s been in for a couple weeks of treatment for pneumonia with IV antibiotics but she’s finally ready to be discharged. However, she also has aphasia (dementia) and after neurological evaluation she’s not well enough in the head to be cleared for anything but transfer to a skilled nursing / long term care facility.
Kind of a good news, bad news thing.

When I was a kid we had no internet, no cellphones, no computers. Forget Minecraft, we didn’t even have Legos! No seatbelts in cars. Dodgeball, clackers .. and have you ever seen lawn darts? Not those blunt-end, lightweight things sold under that name these days. No, I’m talking about the lethal ones - heavy, pointy, metal things that killed thousands* before they were taken off the market.
*slight exaggeration for dramatic effect

Reflecting back on joining this forum 6 years ago at 13 only entering secondary school and just realising how much the community has changed over the years but still stayed such a welcoming and safe place, you realise how quickly time goes by when you realise you're 18 and less then a month away from finishing school and feeling like it was only yesterday that you joined this amazing community.

I'm only going to say this once...
Yes I have days where I'm quiet and then the next I'll talk your ear off. I also have tics I can't control 100% of the time and I may have developed my first vocal tic due to the dang pandemic. So please if all you're going to do is mute me in chats because I'm annoying or whatever then don't invite me to them. I'm self conscious as it is (and please don't constantly bring up my tics as it makes me even more embarrassed and no I can't control them 100% of the time). I know my tics get annoying, how do you think I feel? I literally live with them daily.
I don't usually bring up stuff like this but I'm literally on the verge of tears tonight because I'm having a tic attack and had a "friend" bring it up on a voice chat because it bothered them.

I put three cubes of ice in my glass of lemonade, then refrigerated it for an hour for it to cool even more, and its STILL not enough to help me get through this heat wave in peace.
I think I'll go and see if I fit inside the freezer, coz we dont have air conditioning. Keep me in your prayers.
