The purchase of large skeletons from home depot and lowes has commenced. They are starting to sprout around me. The horror of seeing multiple extra large skellies with nowhere noticeable to store them for the next season. Impulse buys to decorate your lawn. Some are riding a rusted out dodge truck, others looming over the flowerbed staring at the mail carrier. Who knows where these constructs of human ostentation will end up in the end but for now they loom over us. šŸ˜±

    Thereā€™s no stopping The RumblingĀ

while the skeletonā€™s are the most common, thereā€™s a house I drive past on my commute that Ā has what looks like an Ent with a jack oā€™lantern head thatā€™s the same size (guessing around 15ā€™) in their yard

From what I've seen in the big-box stores around here, they're mostly skipping Halloween, minus the candy aisles, and going straight to Christmas.... I'm not ready for it.... šŸ˜

Iā€™m definitely not ready for winter šŸ„¶Ā

And if youā€™re buying Halloween candy in September, itā€™s not for Trick or TreatersĀ šŸ˜‹

Is this the correct name mate? i cannot find

Since you seem to use IMDB as your reference site: Ā https://m.imdb.com/title/tt22249034/?ref_=fn_al_tt_10

Itā€™s more shounen so the violence isnā€™t as graphically detailed as Hellā€™s Paradise, Ā Dororo, etc. Ā

You might enjoy this as wellĀ https://m.imdb.com/title/tt25534100/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2

BTW,..as my post above suggests, i was mistaken and watched a different anime. But its good. You watched it?:

Thatā€™s the version I was talking about. As stated I didnā€™t really get into it but did remind me of Hellā€™s Paradise.

  4. Thereā€™s a sequel movie Battle of Unato, though for some reason Netflix split it into 3 ā€œepisodesā€

    Quote

Unato was originally an 83-minute feature-length film, butĀ Netflix diced it into three chapters; narratively, it picks up six months after the events of the series[/quote]

(the other 2 movies are recaps of season 1)

  5. Finished season 2 of Tokyo Revengers (Christmas Showdown) & have mixed feelings. The fight with Ā Taiju & Black Dragon dragged on way too long, wasnā€™t actually interesting & pushed the limits of credibility for a series where characters arenā€™t supposed to have super powers (except for the time travel trope). But the final 4 eps dealing with the aftermath & setting up the next arc were actually decent, so will probably give the new season a chance when it starts in a couple weeks.

Will finish The Duke of Death & his Maid season 2 and the 1st half of Mushoku Tensei 2 tomorrow.

  6. From this season maybe try the Ruroni Kenshin remake. Not sure if youā€™d like Undead Girl Murder Farce or not, thereā€™s action but also a lot of talking since itā€™s a detective/mystery series.Ā

Another option is the Blade of the Immortal remake from 2019-2020Ā https://myanimelist.net/anime/39806/Mugen_no_Juunin__Immortal

It wasnā€™t really my thing, but you enjoyed Hellā€™s Paradise more than I did so it might be up your alley.

Attempted to watch the 2022 version of Death on the Nile, but only made it half way through. I suppose Iā€™m just too used to the old BBC version of Poirot. Casts serious doubts on whether I ā€˜ll give a Haunting in Venice a try as I had planned.

Went ahead and took a chance on A Haunting in Venice & found it reasonably enjoyable. Less grandiose than the previous recent Poirot remakes, so had more of the same vibe as the old PBS Mystery series I have fond memories of. A nice lowkey early start to the Halloween season.

  8. Was honestly considering not to bother since most folks here donā€™t seem interested in watching series while theyā€™re airing.Ā
Anyway, hereā€™s whatā€™s scheduled for the season

    https://www.livechart.me/fall-2023/tv

As to what I plan to watch, lots of sequels Ā (Dr. Stone, Spy x Family, , Goblin Slayer, Dead Mount Death Play, Ancient Magus Bride, Shield Hero, Eminence in Shadow, Faraway Paladin, Saintā€™s Magic Power is Omnipotent, Girlfriend Girlfriend) . JJKā€™s Shibuya Arc, Helck & Ruroni Kenshin will all carryover. Plus we finally get Attack on Titan grand finale in November. The Spy x Family movie and Reincarnated as a Slime OVA probably wonā€™t be available in the states until next year.

As far as new stuff, I usually need to watch a couple eps before I decide if Iā€™m interested. Pluto has an edge based on Naoki Urusawaā€™s reputation & Frieren seems to be getting a lot of hype over on MAL. Also kinda curious about Shy.

And maybe try to find time for live action One Piece, new Castlevania & Scott Pilgrim Ā on NetflixĀ šŸ˜‚

  9. Currently, sonewhere in the 50 - 100 range. I tend to watch seasonals primarily, 15 - 25 per season, but some are single cour, others are double or split. In addition, Ā Iā€™ll also generally watch around a dozen anime movies or older series combined in a year.

As far as types, my MAL stats indicate Action, Fantasy & Comedy are my top tags. Personal observation is that I tend to like series with a supernatural angle to them.

I have Hell's Paradise and I wonder if it's worth watching?

As far as action goes, it comes close to Demon Slayer. But I feel it relies too much on blood, gore & shock value at the expense of characterization & writing. I still plan on checking out season 2 if/when there is one though. I would recommend Dororo as something similar but superior in those regards (plus itā€™s complete)if you havenā€™t already seen it (itā€™s from 2019 though)Ā

  11. Blue Seed has the legendary dragon Orochi & the god Susanoo as antagonists.

Peach Boy Riverside draws on the fable of Momotaro.

Various yokai play prominent roles in Gegege no Kitaro, Ushio & Tora, Kemono Jihen & In/Spectre.

tsukumogami (inanimate objects that have acquired consciousness or a soul over time) are featured in Malevolent Spirits Mononogatari & Tsugumomo.

The fable of the Red Onj & the Blue Oni is the inspiration for Rem & Ram from Re:Zero. Other famous characters based on oni include Lum from Urusei Yatsura & the ogres from Reincarnated as a Slime.
