I would say that most taste change with age. The only difference is ones personal preferences of what they consider to be better with their age range. For myself, I use to give any anime a chance and watched a wide range of genres. Now it is narrowed down to more of a slice of life, psychological, dark and out of the box animes. Though I do fancy my mecha animes, just not as passionate as I use to be. P.s. Thank you for the welcome. /).(\

Although I am a great fan of Shin Megami Tensei and his wonderful works on the Persona video games. I have not seen that anime series. Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu

So some of these are oldies but goodies and the rest are just great. Now I have not watched a shoujo anime in so long though, so apologies if it isn't something new of the late 2000s you want. Say, "I Love You" Maid-Sama Nana My Little Monster Peach Girl Lovely Complex From Me To You Fruit Basket I know a lot more. But out of all of the ones listed, Fruits Basket & Nana always get me. Both are a long time favorite.

I've been a fan of anime since I was a toddler tbh and I'm okay with it. I'm not huge on anime/manga/video games as I use to be. It comes with age, but I'm still a kid at heart. I am down to earth, goofy as hell, and love adorable things.

I've recently purchased BO4 and pre-ordered Fallout 76. I haven't been on for the beta launches, I just purchased the game only.

Trust me, I recall my good ole' days where my bestie and I went to the library to go to Gundam Wing fan page for anime fan pics and thoughts. The social media aspect played a huge role in the fan-base expansion. But the channels that helped (America-wise) where International Channel (later on renamed to Asia-something), Cartoon Network/Adult Swim. The animes that everyone seemed to know the most when asked which anime got them into watching more are: DB/DBZ, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece and I'm sure others. But then we'll just be having a good list and some debates would burst open. I'm just content knowing that there are a lot more wonderful people who seem more open and can share relatable interest and hobbies.

I've seen this way back, heck, right around the time I saw Haibane Renme and Texhnolyze. Yoshitoshi Abe and his colleague (I believe) are behind those series and more. They all have that dark messed up concept to which relate to the ugly truths of humanity. I mean there's a lot more, but that's the huge concept of those animes. Now, Lain was not my favorite of the bunch. Like I loved the OP song, 'Duvet'...if I recall. But, I felt like it was as most stated, slow. Not only that, I could have been because I was too young to understand. Yet, I did understand the others better. I can't fully recall how this series goes. My p.o.v. might change.

I was reading through the posts of this topic and though to respond to this one. I'm a child of the early 90s and can tell you how small and scattered the population of anime goers were. It's a huge difference from back then vs. now and it is pretty amazing. A huge population of anime/manga/etc. fans now exist. It used to be hard to watch subbed anime and it was rare to find channels that even had an anime block. Now, I do have an anime night where we've been watching MHA before the season concluded and Attack On Titan. It doesn't happen every so often, but when it does, it's nice.
