Illusion of Terra

Just looked at the program. There's a guided tour on one of the afternoons, and the 'colleague' hosting the whole shabang lives there. So, concerning that I think I've got enough to show me around.

I'm actually thinking about booking a hotel outside of the city. Takes longer but then I have no way but to experience the less touristy things. When it comes to others not understanding English (as long as it is not hotel staff), I don't worry too much, as I'm pretty decent at communicating using gestures 
Would have still been great to run into someone from Anime Forums there

Sadly, I do not think we have any french people, or have ever really met them.

Most of the members are from Australia,  USA, and the UK.

I highly recommend hotel Novotel - stayed at one in Germany, they have them in south France too, maybe you’ll find one outside of town. If not, hopefully your stay is still comfortable
