  1. Yeah, it is quite a strange thing when you finish a long anime. But then again, maybe spending some time here on Anime Forums helps
  2. Thanks a bunch for all the suggestions! I knew/watched a couple of these but others I didn't know and am going to check out. I actually started Baka no Test a few weeks ago but for some reason it slipped my mind again - probably because of work. Anyway, I'll have a look
  3. Currently I'm watching The Promised Neverland and Dororo, which are both quite dark. I really like comedic anime or anime that are easy-going, but kinda don't know any that are specifically what I'm looking for. So I'm looking for something that is not too short. It should have more than 12/13 episodes, the more the better, and it should really be 'family-friendly' if you know what I mean. I really liked Nichijou or School Rumble. It doesn't have to be a comedic anime per se, but should overall have a light, easy-going atmosphere. So I would still count Rurouni Kenshin, because it has a lot of those scenes, even if it is rather serious sometimes. Would be great if you guys had any recommendations
  4. We should just create a 90's city, where only people from that era can live - problem solved.
  5. Gotta ask, how does this happen? I assume you speak Czech and Japanese then? That's not a common combo is it?
  6. As for turning things super saiyan, definitely a sloth, IF it stays at the same speed. It would be a terrifyingly powerful but so slow that you could just walk away, the perfect disguise.
  7. Yeah, it sure does. Never thought I would feel old in my twenties, but boy that went downhill.
  8. Hard to say really. There are some really messed up scenes in it, but it is overall quite upbeat and positive (at least compared to the setting of war)
  9. There are some places that teach philosophy at school, but usually it isn't regarded as worthwhile teaching. I had a debate with some people about it, and a colleague made a pretty interesting point. To argue that philosophy isn't worthwhile is already making a philosophical claim. I get what people mean though, when compared to other fields where the results are directly connected to what you want (for example designing a drug to cure a disease). Philosophical results have more far reaching consequences, kinda like math in a way. Edit: if you are interested in something particular open a topic and we can debate it
  10. I was wondering, what everyone watches on Youtube? Here are a few that I like: Brave Wilderness (interesting animals, although the commercialization is getting a bit much) Life Where I'm From (interesting view of Japan and Japanese culture) TheOdd1sOut (hilarious) Any anime-related channels you recommend?
  11. I used to be a scientist, but now I am a philosopher. Scientific research was way too time-consuming which was only one of the reasons I now do philosophy. I was lucky that my parents supported me and that I got state funding, and that universities are free here. Interesting to see that so many people here work in the medical (or related) field.
  12. This reminds me of the phlogiston theory. People tried to explain why some things get heavier when they are burned and tried to explain it by saying that something with negative mass is lost, thereby increasing mass. This was shown to not be the case. Concerning mass, you should distinguish between mass and weight. Weight is what we usually mean by mass in everyday life. Mass in physical terms is hard to understand, because it is used in different ways. Generally, as far as I know negative energy/mass is used in a couple of theories but I don't know if there is any testable evidence on that. Maybe you'll find this interesting? http://www.edition-open-sources.org/sources/5/24/ If you are really interested in it, and know higher maths, I can also send you the full article.
  13. Do you live in the US? If so, I'm really wondering why your taxes are so high in the end. Especially when your healthcare and other social systems are not that great compared to wealthy European countries, Canada or Japan - no offence though. I pay 50% taxes, healthcare, retirement and social security tops. Usually it is less than that but it depends on your income and other things. And I don't really mind since I and others get quite a lot. I think the US has a much more anti-socialist, 'keep the government out' mentality, if I'm not mistaken. That's why I wonder even more that you'd pay so much in taxes.
  14. So anyone seen the latest episode? I kinda didn't get the whole Ray thing. If it is in fact the case what he says, like Emma I kinda find it hard to accept that he would willingly help deport others just for him himself to escape. Also in the end I'm pretty sure it is going to be Norman, Ray or Emma that is entering the room. It would be kind of a giveaway if it really were who they think it is.
  15. It's kinda hard to digest (not to spoil but , so proceed with caution - just a heads up. Great to see that there are many active members here
  16. I think money is the reason for a lot of bad things that happened and are still happening. It is not money itself however, but the greed behind it. But money enables this greed in an unparalleled way. Trade, if it is kept to actual and not 'virtual' trade or trade through intermediates, might be able to put a certain practical limitation to this greed because it would take too much to actually get vast amounts in the end. But, money is quite a lot more practical than trade which is probably why over time it was generally accepted. In theory it doesn't matter if it is money or 'virtual' trade. Here's what I mean. Let's say you have 1000 marbles but want a car. Person A trades 1 sack of paper per 10 marbles. Person B trades 1 printer per 10 sacks of paper. Person C trades 1 car per 10 printers. To get a car with just the 1000 marbles, you would first need to go to person A, then person B and finally person C. Since this would involve quite a lot of work just to get what you actually wanted, you would probably make something like 'virtual' transactions. You say to Person C that they will get 10 printers from B, and to B that they will get 100 sacks of paper from A, and you give person A the 1000 marbles. With that you could skip person B. If you transfer this to longer chains of trade, you will in the end get a 'virtual' currency, which will not be much different from money. The main fault is with human greed, but money is an excellent fuel for this greed. Edit: From a psychological perspective money can become what one really wants because of its reinforcing effects. Money itself has no/little value but since you learn that money can lead to desirable things (the reinforcing effect) you can end up wanting money itself, which actually never really had any value for you, because it led to desirable things so often or you just imagine what desirable things you could get. Then you are no longer after the things you want to buy, but money itself.
  17. Something I read is Silver Spoon, but they only release a chapter every half quarter year or so. Still, it's great. I started Black Clover but somehow I never kept up to date with it and am wondering if I should just watch the Anime.
  18. I'm not really sure if this is the right place but if there is anyone else watching The Promised Neverland I thought we could say what we thought of each episode and make predictions. Naturally, this will have many spoilers below Today episode 5 is coming out, where it will probably revealed if Norman's plan really worked. I'm curious to see how Emma will react to it, if they tell her.
  19. Thanks again for all the welcoming posts My 3 favorite anime, let's see. I guess Dragon Ball because I watched it a lot growing up and it is a rather fun and easygoing story. Even though controversial, I like Naruto a lot because of its balance between atmosphere and deeper topics. Last but not least, Now and Then, Here and There; even though it might not be that popular in general, I thought Shu's optimism even in the face of war was quite inspiring.
  20. Let's see, probably longer than I can remember, but the first one I remember was about 18 years ago and counting. What job would you do if you could choose from all jobs, without really needing the money?
  21. Interesting question. No, I would not. Those creatures who were left and would not suffer might not be able to appreciate it. Yet, we know that humans can appreciate it. If you could, would you switch your body with that of an animal for a week, and which one?
  22. Look what happens if you get to the middle of a black hole Why did you chose that username?
  23. Thanks for the welcome I really like the design of your forum, very clean and serene
  24. I was looking for a forum where you can talk about anime, but also about other things and that is active daily, when I stumbled upon this forum. There's not much to say about me. I'm in my late twenties and have been watching anime for a long time now. I live in Europe, but am quite interested in US culture in general, probably because of TV shows I watched growing up. Kinda like a lot of people are interested in Japan because of anime. I guess it's best if I just answer some questions you guys might have?
