It wasn't a very large fort, I think it had about 50 soldiers stationed there. The crazy guy's action damaged quite a lot of it I think but it didn't change the size. It was a lot larger in WW2, if you look to the right in the first photo you can see the foundations of the WW2 barracks.

Makes sense it would be bigger in ww2 tbh. Ya that's not a ton of people stationed there so I can see why there wasn't so many buildings. 

That's awesome I guess for some reason I was thinking it would be this HUGEEE fort after reading all that about its history lol or did it used to be bigger before crazy guy blew it up? @.@

I agree with you that going out for a walk somewhere like that is really good for you it's so nice to just sit amongst nature and soak up the peaceful calm that surrounds you.

The mural was really pretty! They had several of them on buildings around the park I should have took pictures of the other ones.

I know exactly what you mean lol he is really.. smaller now ._. He used to work out way more and wasn't skinny but had more muscle weight. I think he just stopped going to the gym for a long time ~ he was always skinny like so I think he just lost the bulk. I don't really think it's much to worry about but I think the going to the gym will be good for him anyways since he has some heart issues.

He's been like going to the gym every other day lately I'm impressed lol ~ like every time I've called the past week he's been like ya we went to the gym earlier and swam some laps and did some working out @.@

Oh oh or go up to North Branch Trail I loveEEE it there. Or Northerly Island Park is a fave of mine too.

Thanks! Yeah sunsets are definitely one of my favorite things to take pictures of ~ you really can't go wrong with them.

Part of the display in no.2 furnace. Originally there would have been a wine glass shape lining between the base and the opening of the chimney but this had been cut away for replacement but the works closed before the replacement was built.

 

Some of the cottages were furnished as they would have been at different times, and I forgot toe make a note of the dates!. Close inspection of my full size photos I would place this one at 1900s possibly around 1914. The vases are about right for that period and the photo on the mantelpiece is of soldiers in first world war style uniforms.

I'm much more confident to date this one at 1940s as the newspaper headline reads "Hitler Assassinated".

Another one I'm confident to date as 1950s as the date on the Playbook Annual is 1954. (I remember some of the things in that room, and I've still got a standard lamp like that in my living room).

I hope you enjoyed looking at these bonus photos.

What the heck that's so hot @.@ Lol I can't even imagine 5 year olds doing manual labor like that ._. Like I know that was the norm back then but it seems so crazy to think about today. 

Geez those furnaces are way bigger than I expected too. I guess when I think of furnaces I think of teeny tiny ones lolll these are massive X.X

Thanks! The flowers out there were really pretty ~ the day was just gorgeous and the sky was perfect.

Chaaa and it's been a nice few days. yesterday was pretty nice too. It rained a bit earlier but now it's sunny again.
