    Coffee Thread

I need caffeine. How do you guys take yours?
  2. I love Monogatari! Great work
  3. Let me know how it goes! Fate/Zero seems to have a different tone than The Case Files so far, but I think they're both worth watching.
  4. I wanted to make a thread about this anime a few months ago, but I guess I lost track of time. Oh well. The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II is a direct sequel to Fate/Zero. It takes place 10 years after the 4th Holy Grail War, starring Waver Velvet, now known as Lord El-Melloi II. The Fate series has an Urban Fantasy setting, but so far this anime has more of a Detective Mystery setting, taking place in England. So far, I'm liking it. I like the majority of the characters from the Fate universe, but there's typically not enough material that covers the aftermath of some characters or instances of magic being used in everyday life. The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II fixes this by focusing upon the emotional impact of Fate/Zero on Waver as well as exploring the potential of magic outside of the Holy Grail War, which is mostly just expositioned by characters in Fate/stay night. If you haven't seen any Fate, the only thing that you'd want to watch before this anime is Fate/Zero. I've heard from some people that you could watch this anime without Fate/Zero, but the OVA kind of spoils some of the events of Fate/Zero. Then again, it's nearly impossible to avoid Fate spoilers in this day and age. I don't know if anyone is watching this, but it'd be nice to hear someone else's thoughts. I finished Episode 0 yesterday, and it felt nice to know that there's still a future for my favorite characters and stories.
  5. Popeyes ran out of chicken sandwiches AND oreo bites. The customer service was pretty terrible, and I overheard the workers getting upset at a different customer. Oh well, the food wasn't bad. I guess that's what really matters.
  6. I'll be watching Heaven's Feel II today. I've heard great things about it so I'm excited.
  7. Unfortunately, a harem ending is next to impossible. Here's my source on that.
  8. Honestly, I could see a case for everyone winning. The only girl I'm against winning is Itsuki, since I don't really like first girl tropes.
  9. Yotsuba best. I've been reading the manga for a while, so I probably have a different opinion than people who have only seen the anime. I doubt she'll "win", though.
  10. I'm fine with watching anime movies, it's just rare that I find a good one that's also something I like. Many anime movies are dramas, namely A Silent Voice, I Want To Eat Your Pancreas, and Your Name. Although I liked A Silent Voice, I don't really have the motivation to watch the other two. A lot of Ghibli films could also be described as Drama, but I'm not going to argue for or against that. These are typically what comes to mind when you ask someone what an anime movie is. Some anime movies are movies that go alongside the series. There are some anime movies like Overlord's which are just a recap of the series, which I can understand skipping. Other anime movies like Kizumonogatari, No Game No Life Zero, Youjo Senki, and Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel are pretty popular though, so take that for what you will. (Hell, look how popular Dragon Ball and Pokemon movies are.) Most importantly, I think the reason why people watch anime in general is to get attached to characters. A lot of the times people will say something like, "I watch this anime for the girl" or, "I watched this anime because of a clip on YouTube". I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with this, but that might lead into your point about anime movies, which typically focus on the plot. Wrapping that point into my previous points... Since people are already attached to characters from the Monogatari and Fate/stay night anime, they'll feel comfortable watching Kizumonogatari and Heaven's Feel respectively. That's an obvious point. On the other hand, you're going to have to convince me to watch something like I Want To Eat Your Pancreas. I've seen many stories of sick girl heals depressed boy, so reintroducing this theme for characters I don't care about is already putting the movie at a disadvantage for me.
  11. I'd imagine it'd be a little awkward for me, since I don't have any children.
  12. 1. Death Note - Started it, but never finished it. I've been spoiled pretty heavily for the ending, which people consider to be disappointing. I don't intend on finishing it. 2. Attack on Titan - Finished season one. I don't really have a strong drive to continue it, but I didn't hate it. 3. Sword Art Online - Made it up until the end of the original Gun Gale Online. I don't really have a desire to continue it. The story and characters didn't seem to be moving in a direction that I'd appreciate, but I do have a slight nostalgia for it since I watched it with some friends. A little overhated in my opinion, but it definitely deserves most of it. 4. Fullmetal Alchemist - I've only seen Brotherhood. It's been almost ten years since it finished airing, so I honestly don't remember how I feel about it. 5. One Punch Man - I love One Punch Man, but the reasons for why have definitely changed over the years. This series is probably my favorite on this last, but mainly due to the webcomic. 6. Tokyo Ghoul - Never seen it, and I don't plan on it. I like the memes that come from the first OP, though. 7. Steins Gate - I've seen the original Steins;Gate anime, OVAs, and movie, but I have not finished Steins;Gate 0. I got to around episode 12 and just thinking to myself "Wow, I don't care." when a major twist was revealed. It's hard to get emotionally attached to new characters in a "prequel". Overall, I like the series, but Steins;Gate 0 is on pause for now. 8. No Game No Life - I finished season one and No Game No Life Zero. Season one was definitely an enjoyable experience, and I have a slight nostalgia for it since I watched it with friends, too. However, No Game No Life Zero was undoubtly better, and it kind of makes me hesitant to want to watch more of the original series. 9. Naruto - I watched the original season as a kid, and I really liked it. Now, I hate what it's become. This was originally the story of a dumb, yet well-meaning kid that got set behind but still tried his best to help the people around him by sticking his head where it didn't belong. Now, it's about who's won the genetic lottery. I have no intention of ever continuing it. If Rock Lee was the main character, this show would easily be one of my favorite shows of all time. 10. Angel Beats! - I finished it. I didn't really understand it while I was watching, but after the understanding the ending, it does give a bittersweet taste in my mouth. I can't help but feel that there were too many loose ends left untied, though. I guess it's up to the watcher's interpretation.
  13. Welcome to AF. I hosted that other interactive story, but it's on indefinite hiatus for now. There are multiple reasons, but the biggest one is that the people who have previously participated in that story are now AWOL from AF. (The next biggest being that I'm just not interested in it anymore.) I bid you good luck on yours. I would join, but I haven't even started Madoka Magicka. I've always wanted to pick it up, but I've a got a huge chunk of other works to burn through.
  14. Sure! I love sharing my thoughts, especially if it's about a good anime. See you in a few.
  15. I don't know if I'm going to watch anymore. I finished episode two and I got turned off by the rival character. I know it's a shonen, but rival characters really rub me the wrong way when they're done a certain way, like Bakugou from MHA. (Sorry, I know you two like MHA.) If it gets better, I might consider picking it up. For now, it's on pause.
  16. Oh boy, another huge franchise to get into. At least this one actually has a solid starting point, unlike Fate. Count me in, but it'll take a second for me to form an opinion.
  17. How's DanMachi S2 going so far, @Ohiotaku? Is watching Sword Oratorio necessary?
  18. You know, there's a direct sequel to Fate/Zero starring Waver Velvet. I would make a thread about it, but I actually haven't started it yet. Hope I finish this darn novel soon. https://myanimelist.net/anime/38959/Lord_El-Melloi_II_Sei_no_Jikenbo__Rail_Zeppelin_Grace_Note Also, I'm liking your Oda profile picture, @The History Kid
  19. Hah, everything about this post gives me some light nostalgia. Ayanokouji from Classroom of the Elite, Parzival from Ready Player One, and Tavi from.... MLP? Dunno. Hope you enjoy your stay here. I've been getting into Fate recently, but my all time favorites are Monogatari and Land of the Lustrous. What about you? And yeah, I tend to spend a lot of time thinking about what to say. It's better to say something off of the top of your head than nothing at all, though.
  20. I'm not currently watching much at the moment, (still reading Fate/stay night) but I am keeping up with Tejina Senpai. It's an ongoing anime with a cute main girl, but there's a lot of fan service in it. It's chibi art style is cute, but if you can't handle ditzy girls and fan service, I would not recommend it. Anyways, I'd probably give it 3 stars out of 5. Sometimes the score hits 2 stars out of 5. I usually don't continue anime that I rate this lowly, but episodes are only 12 minutes long each, and the pacing is really fast so it keeps your attention.
  21. Merlin, Waver, and Jeanne Alter are pretty insane to be fair. I'll have to stick with Arash and Andersen for now though...
  22. Flat 1% chance is tough. You're better off rerolling the account at the beginning to be honest.
  23. @The History Kid Yeah. I got her to max ascension too, but NP5 was too much for me. Looking forward to getting that Merlin!
