  1. I agree with several anime listed here.

Made in Abyss (around when Nanachi is introduced) and Wolf Children (was thinking about adding this to the picture above tbh) have a really great story that can bring down a tear or two. Ghibli Movies tend to be very emotional and can leave you with an empty feeling afterwards, whether you burst with joy or break into tears is something you make up in your mind yourself. Wolf Rain is also a must-watch and a great addition to the list of tearjerkers but it might be not everyone's cup of tea.

  2. Don't click this spoiler unless you are up with the latest episode of Demon Slayer.

    Spoiler

I have been itching to see Giyu in action and Tanjiro's face was just priceless when he witnessed the 11th form. Well, this will be explained in detail in the following episodes. You can actually see Kanao in the Opening alongside Giyu so I figured she would make an appearance early on (with early on i'm referring to this season). As well as the other Pillars (hashira) which are shown in dark silhouette. I agree that this whole "pretending to be family" is just wrong but he seemed to be just a kid anyway. He may be one of the 12 Demon Moons but he was just a Lower 5 and the one Tanjiro fought before was the former lower demon moon 6. Maybe you remember the one with the drums on his body. I guess the difference in just one number can be significant to their strength.

What are some of your favorite anime tearjerkers? Do you know an anime tearjerker that is not as popular as the ones on the picture above? Which themes are generally used in tearjerkers where people tend to cry more often? Is it Death, Love or some other topic you can relate to?

I have recently finished watching a movie named I want to eat your pancreas which is now one of my favorite tearjerkers of all time. I didn't think I would enjoy it this much. It aired back in 2018 but since then it was just getting dusty on my overly huge watch-list on MAL. I would be recommending this to anybody who has seen the other anime on the picture above. (it's the one at the first left corner)

  4. I have been using Linux for around 3-4 years. My IT teacher was using Arch Linux on his laptop which he brought to school every time. Curiosity took the better of me and when I asked him which OS he uses - his eyes widened and his face turned in full excitement like "DO YOU REALLY MEAN IT?!". It must be pretty reassuring to find out someone showing interest in his class that he would voluntarily come to him and ask questions. Of course I was not using Linux right off the bat as I felt uncomfortable with the command line and the interface. There was simply no "exe" file you could click upon installing but over the time (I installed ubuntu on my laptop) I got used to it. Obviously all software on linux are FOSS. I wish there will an increase of development regarding gaming on Linux, unfortunately it's the only point why i am not installing it on my PC as well. Wine and Steam are pretty limited in terms of games, which is a shame.

I gave away my laptop with 64-bit and now using Ubuntu Mate on my 32-bit notebook - hopefully they don't ditch 32bit support like Gnome did for the upcoming releases. (support only for 14.4 and 16.4 afaik)

Linux - The Grandfather of FOSS

  5. FOSS is the acronym for Free Open Source Software. (Free or Open Source Software if you google it up)

During the past years there has been a rise of open source software and programmers across the world have dedicated their time to develop it through platforms such as Github. Blender 2.8 was released a few weeks ago, while it was considered the only capable free option for 3D artists has now caught the interest of many big companies and the latter one being Epic Games with a donation of 1.2M. How is this in any way related to anime, you ask? Khara, the anime producer behind Evangelion and Darling in the Franxx are moving to Blender. they are currently working on “EVANGELION:3.0+1.0” which will be released in 2020. Anyway, you can read more about this here.

    Spoiler

    khara_01.jpg

Blender is probably the most known FOSS but there are way more of them like G.I.M.P (the free photoshop version I use to say), Kirita, Godot-engine (game engine) and the list goes so on.

Do you use or know any FOSS software that you would like to mention? What is your opinion on FOSS? FOSS or proprietary software like Photoshop and Maya?

  6. Giyu is my favorite character so far - obviously the anime is nowhere near the end and many new characters will be introduced later on.

Why Giyu? He is a badass. Ok ok...he is also caring towards Tanjiro and Nezuko, like a long lost older brother of the Kamado siblings.

  7. I have only seen 7 out of 10 and Naruto, OPM, FMA, AOT (so many acronyms 😅) are the only ones deserving a spot on my favorite list.

NGNL brought a new concept to the isekai genre when it was first released but this whole brother-sister relationship is sickening with all the fan service centered around Shiro. Tokyo Ghoul is an example of bad anime adaptation or lack of budget, potential was there but was not used properly.

Mixed opinions on SAO - S1 part 1 and S2 part 2 are worth mentioning.

  8. Hey there, Cruck. It's a great feat to become a dragon keeper but you shall become a true dragon keeper, one who can befriend dragons and perhaps take me along for a ride? 😜

The name is Arkados and the last heir to the family Dardian. Our family was known for it's infamous illusion magic and my goal is to create the greatest illusion humankind has ever seen.

  9. Any doubts of mine have vanished into thin air with the latest episode showing how anime adaptations are done right.

    Spoiler

The latest episode was so predictable to me (read manga) since they are clearly aiming for a linear story and ignoring the chapter order of the manga altogether. I was pretty satisfied with this episode as we are getting a closer look at Thorfinn's development from a crybaby to a formidable little devil haha. I like that they showed how he picked up his other dagger - which he didn't inherit from his father. I can now (after seeing what the little thorfinn went through) empathize with Thor's decision and why he went to such lengths in order to desert from the Jomsvikings. Well I assume the next episodes are going to be more action packed and I am excited how they are going to make the transition from here onwards.

Will they go back to the chapters they left out or continue it differently? Guess we will see this on 18.8 😉

  10. Spoiler

I don't really have anything to add aside of the fact that Nezuko finally spoke. Also we see another pillar (hashira) aside of Giyu in action and she is probably going to play a major role in the upcoming episodes. We got to finally see Tanjiro's actual breathing technique which he remembered from his father. It's also pretty nonsensical for Muzan to kill Tanjiro's family who are living on a remote mountain (he could've sent one of the twelve demon moons) so I guess his family bears a secret or maybe is related to the Demon Slayer Corbs. Considering Tanjiro's father was able to use the breathing technique in spite of his frail stature.

I felt like that watching My hero academia. Love when that happens!

My favorite anime for this season is demon slayer so I’m just feeling a little biased on choosing an OP.

Nezuko is so adorable and Tanjiro is doing a pretty good job as the older brother. I've actually read far beyond this chapter in the manga and hence I believe that they will release another season with 24 episodes (the manga has way too much source material, like could even have a third season at this point).

  12. Now that you mention, I've completely overlooked Demon Slayer's OP - Gurenge by Lisa. I find the song really appealing and fitting to Demon Slayer and it's a catchy record you would listen to as many times as possible. (just listened to this while reading for 4 times prior posting this)

I like the latest opening of Black Clover, (it has 8 openings as of now) and sometimes I feel like the opening quality is better than the episodes they release haha)

@Muco I honestly didn’t think Black Clover was that bad. Even though I did drop it fairly early on, I actually think I might revisit it someday. The biggest obstacle is I tend to prefer series that just last a couple cours or at least give you a break in between to explore something different. Same reason I burned out on One Piece & Hunter x Hunter, but would like to get back into them someday.

Well this is understandable because nobody really would be willing to watch an anime with so many episodes like OP unless he fully commits himself to watch only that. I have realized over the years that I tend to "put an anime on hiatus" unconsciously, in particular with long running shounen anime where slow pacing plots/arcs can kill the whole thing. Whereas 12 episodic anime, f.e are more forgiven, as far as the anime studio adapts it accordingly. Vinland Saga for instance did the anime adaptation fairly well.

I have read the manga to 50 chapters (which would be equal to 24+ episodes and even more, no idea how they are planning to fit it into 24 episodes) but the first chapter of the manga is different to what we see in the anime. The Anime Studio decided to follow a linear storyline, what you would normally see in the first episodes could have been "flashbacks" of Thorfinn's childhood if they decided to follow the original manga.

Anyways. I digress but yeah maybe give Black Clover another try and watch it dubbed if you want to. Normally, not a fan of dubs but the dub version for B.C is better than sub.

  14. I always prefer watching an AMV over reading some reviews on MAL where people tend to exaggerate. Actually if you've seen anime for a long time, you will eventually give it 3 episode before either continuing or dropping it. I am still watching Black Clover since it's initial release, regardless of the fact that people have been complaining about Asta's screaming and branded it as a bad anime from the get-go. Most MAL reviews for BC were also based off of the first couple episodes but if you have just kept watching it up until now then you won't be having any regrets. Don't get influenced by reviews too much - they're a great source but they also can affect your decision heavily. (which you might regret at some point)

  15. Well I got to be the sword hero, fitting for me. He was the only hero out of the 3 trio who didn't hate the shield hero with passion, like getting in his way all the time. The one who pointed out the interference of the B. in the 1vs1 fight vs the spear hero and also been entrusted by the shield hero to find out the truth by giving him the church rosary.
