The question was posed by one of the younger crew at work today, "Why do they call it 'spam' anyway?".

To which I of course replied, "well, you know that Monty Python sketch?  That's where it comes from."

To which he replied, "what's Monty Python?".

Oi.. don't they teach kids anything in school these days?!

Yesterday night was one of the most fantastic moments and a core memory. With my partner visiting me here in Czechia. I decided to propose! And she said yes!!

Unfortunately due to the stressful joys of exams and just trying to find my feet in this country, I haven't been as active as I hoped. I'm hoping that with the new year and being more comfortable here I can contribute more! 

Just back from a trip with the Faculty of Science into the woods and mines of rural Czech Republic, super fun but excited to get started with lectures!

Could really use someone to talk to. Not about anything negative (I'm dealing with a lot of depression and pain but want to distract myself) but maybe my newish hobby if anyone wouldn't mind listening? Idk. If you wanna add my discord thatd be easiest, it's in my signature. I'm just doing kinda poorly emotionally lately and I need someone to talk about positive stuff with.

Am I the only one that has people talking about me behind my back? Doesn't feel great to know someone's doing it, but they'd chalk it up to the voices. Or deny it. Talking about home btw, not here.

I doubt anyone is wondering about this, however this former member's goodbye message makes a very serious accusation towards me, and I don't like misinformation. So here's what they're referring to!

"wants to redefine the meanings of words", they were questioning the existence of a "no LGBT-phobia" rule, I promptly explained it a few times, to no avail.
"to suit their own agenda", dear human... is an agenda meant to protect individuals from harassment a program that shouldn't be endorsed?
The conversation I had with this lad a few months ago is still intact, and should anyone request it, I'll happily distribute complete screenshots for you to see with your own eyes their suspicious and obnoxious terms.

It's usually a shame to lose members like this, but frankly, I'm quite delighted that they did the job of sparing Anime Forums from themselves. It deserves better than members audaciously attacking rules that protect a core and innocent part of the community.

PS: they were planning on a more dramatic departure? Shoot, I should've set off all the fireworks in celebration... but they're not worth it.

A forum site is only as good as it's community is willling to let it grow by contributing to it be it by striking up an entertaining conversation, making engaging threads or simply making content that catches the eyes of visitors enough to decide to make an account and be part of this home of ours.

Some long needed purging is being done all around the forums, a rogue moderator had been deleting posts and topics but that has been resolved for now. Soon I will be stepping in as new Community Manager, it's nigh time to rebuild and restore this charming site!

Been a bit minute since last I came back on here to post. Definitely still a sleek and modernized website forum still with good layout. Interesting to see it still alive and kicking still good stuff.

So I can't post appreciation for THK and Wedgy on all the crap they've been through? Nor how this appalling site has treated people who chose their dignity over keeping this place alive. Thanks Optic, truly. For sponging my previous account when a fellow member was stealing my creative works and reuploading them elsewhere. Always grateful but I don't understand why I can't even post a screenshot asking why my public replies to THK and Wedgy are restricted, on my own Activity Status? I can't even simply mention that I'm disappointed in AF and express regret in re-joining. 

Feeling terrible for the lingering members on the site, there's so much going on behind the curtain and you all deserve better. Huge thank you to everyone that kept spreading awareness, I'll take a note from those that were wise enough to leave this place sooner. 

I'll treasure the times I did manage to have fun here and it was wonderful meeting some earnestly good people along the way. Thankful to the friends I made above all else. Stay safe.
