Watching the latest episode of Fruits Basket now. Let the emotional roller coaster begin...

Enjoying some hot lavender tea & Korean apple cookies while watching some more Gosick before bed. So relaxing

Finally sitting down to watch Spirited Away

I spent a few hours today running around a few different international markets(I found out about 3 more that are smaller than the one I normally visit) & got items from Denmark, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Thailand, Korea, Taiwan, Germany, & Cameroon. I've also spent a few hours researching how to prepare some of the things I bought or what to serve them with because I honestly had no idea. I got some ground cassava meal & will be making this cooked dough called eba, which is primarily eaten with flavorful Nigerian soups so I'll need to find a basic Nigerian soup recipe to make with that. Then I got corn soya, which is from Ghana & is a type of hot cereal that is normally served with milk & sugar. I'm going to try that in the morning with my breakfast. I love learning about various cultures & exploring food from around the world is a great way to do that. And since a lot of various places around the world don't load their food down with preservatives, salt, sugar, etc. I can still satisfy my foodie ways without ruining all my healthy progress

@IIVIsouljam Putting together a cookbook is an idea that I've kicked around for a while. Since anime has become such a huge hobby for me, I think it would be fun to come up with dishes inspired by my favorite characters.

About to curl up with a Stephen King novel & a glass of warm milk.
As if that milk's gonna keep the nightmares at bay...

@Ohiotaku The book I'm reading is called The Outsider & it is about the absolutely horrific murder of a little boy in a small town & the way his body was found & what the killer did to him was so brutal I had to put the book down about 20 pages in. My goodness HOW does Stephen King get any sleep with all that madness running around in his head!?!

Grilling up some mesquite burgers made with extra lean beef & instead of buns, I'm wrapping them in those big lettuce leaves I got at the store. I also picked up some salt free ketchup. Oh, you thought I'd miss out on the yummies of Summer just because I'm eating healthy? Uh...no. I've just found some tasty ways to make it happen anyway
Hey....there is no lettuce wrapped burger emoji, ok? Work with me, people! LOL!

This is friggin' awesome! So glad to see people overcoming the challenges that are presented to overweight people who are honestly trying to get healthier. I wish this YouTuber all the success in the world:

In the process of replacing all the sauces/condiments I use in cooking with better alternatives i.e. no sodium ketchup, salt free spice blends, etc.
I'm really glad I started this gradually because if I tried to do this all at once I would be completely overwhelmed. To anyone else who is trying to overhaul their health, please remember to give yourself time to adjust.

Looking forward to what comes next in the role play you started writing.

I'm listening to some of your music now & it's really good. You're very talented

Looks like someone gifted me a new waifu

Your picture really does a great job of lulling people into a false sense of security by making you look ultra sweet and innocent. Well played, Loli. Well played.

Tonight's dinner:

Not gonna lie, "meatless meat" has always been questionable in my mind. Not totally against the idea you understand, just... highly skeptical. The veggies are ok. Not a big fan of broccoli either but in small amounts it is fine. Drop a small slice of fish or chicken on that rice to make a donburi bowl out of it and I'd make a meal of it, no problem.

After dinner I wanted a snack. So I got a few leaves of this lettuce that I found at Wal-Mart & put a little light salad dressing in a small container & dipped the leaves in & snacked on them. I think this is going to be something that I keep going because it was enough to satisfy my snack craving without ruining all the effort I'd put in during the day to watch what I ate.
Now someone might be thinking: Ruth, why are you sharing all this?
Because I know I'm not the only one in the world who wants to get healthier or lose weight & maybe no one else in AF is doing this but maybe they know someone who is & maybe that person's struggling & could use some helpful tips or advice from someone else who understands how they feel & appreciates how hard they're trying even if they don't know them personally.
That's why.

Reducing sodium in my diet is a bit more challenging than I thought it would be but I've got my intake for today down to below 2300mg which is the most that people should have in a day according to the FDA, CDC, & American Heart Association so I'm glad. Being mindful everyday is what it's going to take to stay on track but if this is going to help me feel my best then I'm going to give it my best shot. Thank goodness for my food journal lol.

You wanna know the worst part about watching the Saga of Tanya the Evil? Even though I know she's a wicked little monster, she's such a badass that when she's in battle I can't help but root for her. Well played, Tanya. Well played.

I've got a protein pack in my hair, enjoying some hot tea w/honey & watching Youjo Senki while rain gently falls outside my window. All in all, I'd say my life's pretty good right now.

About to watch the latest episode of Fruits Basket. Who wants to cry their eyes out with me?

I should be able to get through a good chunk of Beserk today so make sure to have those emotional support cuddles ready

Your avatar & banner WIN EVERYTHING!

I love your kitten story idea, so I added something to it

I'm a few episodes into Beserk & you know, I really want to like Griffith but eh, I don't know there's something very unnerving about him & the way he speaks of people belonging to him. I'm just not a fan of that type of attitude. And as dark as this anime gets I'm choosing not to get too attached to any of the characters. Gotta minimize the trauma somehow lol.
