  1. Hey dudes and dudettes (and everyone in between), How is everyone doing in Anime World? Here is an interesting question. I watched only one season of Hero Academia and wasn't that impressed, but I might give it another chance. I also watched four seasons of The Boys, a very dark, bloody satire of superheroes. In both shows, the heroes have merch, PR folks, oversight, contracts. etc. The only difference is that the Hero heroes aren't murderers and All Might is definitely not a narcissistic sociopath who is a target by "terrorists", aka The Boys. So, I was wondering if maybe Hero is The Boys Lite? Any thoughts?
  2. What up, dudes and dudettes (and all in between), How are things in Anime World? I was putzing around on YouTube and I came across a fairly new anime called The Apothecary Diaries and it is wonderful. For those who dont know, "apothecary" is an old school term for now what is the pharmacy (CVS, Rite Aid, or whatever your local pharmacy is called). It also refers to the person who made and sold medicine. The story takes place in a fictional capital in Imperial China during the Tang Dynasty in the pleasure district. The main character is a girl named Maomao who lives with the local apothecary near a brothel and learns about medicine and poisons. One day she is kidnapped and sold to the Imperial Palace as a laundry girl. She solves the mystery of two concubines and their infants and is rewarded by being promoted to being Concubine Gyokyu's lady-in-waiting/food taster. She is also an amateur Sherlock Holmes and solves mysteries. The stories are well done, the artwork is beautiful and you get to learn about medicine, poison and "palace politics". Has anyone here see the anime or read the manga? Any favorite episode or chapter?
  3. Hey dudes and dudettes (and all in between), How is everyone doing in Anime World? I was scrolling through Instagram and I occasionally come across clips from various anime conventions and there is a kid who interviews congoers for hot takes and surveys. What comes up sometimes is "Who is the worst anime dad?" The two most common answers are Goku and Tucker from Alchemist. I would like to add the dad from Evangelion. Yes, throughout the anime, Shinji is an annoyingly whiny little bitch who you want to slap. However, the dad is an absolute douchebag that Earth would have no problem handing to the Angels to do with as they pleased. He leaves Shinji as a little kid then demands he flies EVA-1, not caring if he dies in combat. Agree/disagree? Any other "Bad Dads" come to mind? Let's hear you. Peace out and stay classy.
  4. What's up dudes and dudettes (and all in between)? How are we doing? Neil Burns here at your service. I am a 56-year-old single man who works at Teradyne as a warehouse worker. Among a few of my interests are singing,, reading, photography, sci fi and anime. I also like going to cons. I don't dress up, but I do appreciate the awesome costumes and the effort that goes into them. I look forward to contributing here and making friends. Take care, nice to meet you all and as Ron Burgundy would say, "Stay classy."
