  1. Think of all the positives in your life and focus on those. Everyone has stress in their lives, some have more than others...we just have to learn how to deal with it. Focus on things you enjoy when you have free time or focus on what you can do once the day or your mandatory tasks are finished.

  2. The thing with me is that I was watching "anime", by today's more common definition, without knowing I was watching it. Nickelodeon in the 80s (some early 90s) aired imported shows all the time, which included some animated titles from Japan, like Adventure of the Little Koala, Noozles, Grimms Fairy Tale Classics, Mapletown, the Mysterious Cities of Gold, the Lil Bits, Maya the Bee, etc. I watched all of these in some way or form whenever I was home from school or during the summer holiday, but I didn't know that they were originally Japanese shows dubbed into English with Canadian voice actors (I noticed the accents as a kid, but didn't realize it was Canadian until much later on).

Now I was watching stuff before the Nickelodeon stuff in the mid-80s (from my memory), like Voltron and G-Force with my older cousin (against my will), so...about 1984-ish?  I guess that's how long I've been exposed to anime, albeit unknowingly.

  3. I gave up on Naruto about 100 eps (I think) into Shippuden. By that point, I'd just gotten bored of the franchise. I was at the point where I wanted them to GET to the point and finish the story. Bleach fell into this category as well. About 100 eps in I was just bored.

As for fillers, I didn't have a problem with them too much since I liked episodes that stepped away from the plot and maybe focus on one of the other characters, like that episode where the kids were trying to unmask Kakashi or the episode that showed that Neji had a fear of the supernatural and ghosts. These are still two of my fav eps of the series, especially the former.

That aside, fillers of that nature didn't bother me because of the type of filler it was. It's something anime original. I didn't like fillers done in the DBZ way, where they continue to pad out a canon arc. Seriously, how many eps did it take for Planet Namek to finally blow up? So yeah, filler that extends out a canon arc, I didn't like. Anime original filler, it's cool with me. This is one of the reasons I grew bored so quickly of Sailor Moon Crystal. Even though the 90s version had its flaws, the series actually benefited from having filler episodes. You got to know the girls more through them and made them either more relateable to the viewers or more likable. It wasn't always "Sailor business" like Crystal was doing (I heard for season 3, it's supposed to have a feel closer to the 90s version).

So yeah, I didn't drop Naruto because of filler or whatever, I dropped it because I felt it was time for the story itself to just end.

  4. I've never read these books nor have I ever seen the films, but I can understand why some people would be put off by a character like Gray. I don't know much, but he does seem to have boundary issues and come across as partially stalkerish. I mean, he put money into her bank account without her, to my knowledge (and if I'm wrong, please correct me), ever giving him that very private information. He also seemed to have a thing on keeping tabs on what she eats for a while, doesn't he?  I think it's stuff like that, that causes people not to care for or like characters like Gray.

Anyway, you are right about people who have been abused have suffered some effects from it, although it does affect everyone in different ways.

I know for me, I've just never had an interest in this series since it's supposedly a raunchy romance and for the most part, I'm not really into romance or the raunchy stuff much. I don't mind romance if it's more secondary.

Oh I also think people turn away from this series because of the fact that it's supposedly just a bad Twilight fanfiction and many people didn't like Twilight.

  5. I've just watched the first episode of the original version of Gegege no Kitaro.  It's been a LONG time since I've watched any kind of anime. That aside, I like it so far! In the first episode, it dealt with a boy finding a yokai bat and it working very well. They would always hit home runs or whatever and because of their skill, talent scouts came around, wanting to start up a team with them. The most interesting line during all of that was what the boys were saying they'd buy with the money. One of them said that he would buy a color television for his grandmother. I love junk like that!

  6. Knowing me, I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the references go over my head, especially if referencing modern things.  Like SAO. I've never read it nor have I seen it. Retro games and stuff, I'd do better with, so that's my question. Do they have easter eggs and references to more modern things or a nice balance between older and newer?

  7. The Nuku Nuku series stars a robot girl.  There are three versions to my knowledge.

    Bannou Bunka Nekomusume (OVA)
    Bannou Bunka Nekomusume (TV series)
    Bannou Bunka Nekomusume DASH (OVA)

The TV series and the first OVA uses the same characters, but is a bit different. DASH is entirely revamped, Nuku Nuku is different, but the human characters are still there including the main human character of the previous series being older. You don't have to watch the other two to understand DASH.  You don't have to watch the first OVA to get the TV series. I guess all three are pretty standalone, although personally, I like DASH best.

    Outlaw Star

    Chobits

    Astroboy

    Rockman/Megaman

That's all I can think of right off the top of my head.

  8. I watched it this year. This was the first time in five years I was able to watch it in real time since I'm currently not working and still preparing to move home.

This year's Wrestlemania had its moments. It was okay. I really liked the mix tag-team match. I really liked Ronda, even though she was underselling her arm bar move. You could tell, but it's understandable since she did transition over from UFC.

I really liked the IC Title match between Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, and the Miz, but that's mainly due to the fact that Finn Balor and Seth Rollins are really GOOD in the ring. I love matches that include those two. I was expecting Finn to win it, though as opposed to Seth, but I'm cool with it.

Asuka vs Charlotte was good too...but shocked they let Charlotte win...kinda. She is Ric Flair's daughter after all. I wish it would've been a pin and not a submission move to get Asuka to tap out. I want to know what they're going to do with Asuka now.

Nia vs Alexa was nice too. I was glad she beat up Mickie James (even though I have a slight bias towards her going back years being from the same town as me) to prevent her from helping out in anyway to Alexa. The only thing I was having a problem with was the fact that Mickie was apart of this bullying angle to begin with. It's stupid that someone who was subjected to the whole "Piggy James" thing would be into this angle.

Braun Strowman vs the Bar.  Yeah, that was stupid.  Funny, but stupid.

Whiny baby vs Undertaker. I was one of those who didn't want this match. Cena was annoying all month leading up to this.  I will admit, when his music hit and all that, the nostalgia feels did come back, and despite its pointlessness, I like how he squashed that crybaby.

Everything was...okay, I guess. Main event. I hated the fact Lesner retained, but at the same time, I kinda get why they probably did it. They're still trying toget Reigns over. I personally have nothing against him and like him fine. I hate the fact people boo him for something he has no control over.  Lesner on the other hand, I do dislike, and I don't mean his character. I dislike HIM.  So yeah.  It was...a whatever type Wrestlemania.  Still not as good as X7...but my bias is showing. That was my first Wrestlemania. ^^

As long as it's not shounen, I'm open to pretty much anything as long as it can stand out among all the other anime in it's genre.

    How about shoujo? :-P lol

Joking aside, dunno if they "stand out" because that type of thing is highly subjective. For example, a lot of people like Naruto. I got bored of it, but I really like Hunter x Hunter and find that it's better written and stuff.

Anyway, here are some suggestions for comedy, drama, slice of life, supernatural, mystery, etc., that comes to mind for me:

    Azumanga Daioh
    Excel Saga
Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu
Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu Deluxe
Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu Final
    Noir
    Isshukan Friends
    Kuroshitsuji
    Kuroshitsuji II
    Marmalade Boy
    Detective Conan
