I doubt anyone besides me & efaardvark are old enough to remembet “vintage” Vicks Formula 44 cough syrup. To it’s credit it was a very effective cough suppressant (once you choked it down). To describe the taste, it was a mixture of black licorice, Vicks Vaporub & 20 proof alcohol. But we’re talking smell here, right?  So, once when I was a kid a bottle got accudentally put in the cabinet where mom kept her cooking spices/flavorings. She was baking cookies & picked up the bottle thinking it was molasses. I have no idea how she didn’t realize her mistake while mixing it, but it wasn’t in the oven very long before the smell filled the house & everyone knew something was very wrong 

@WedgyThe homemade cure in our household was dad’s onion soup with big chunks of raw potato in it. Slightly less disgusting than the Vicks 44.

@Ohayotaku wtf . Also, I'm VERY interested in knowing how onions and raw potatoes are supposed to work

Boy, now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever smelt anything that's weird enough for me to remember. I do remember the smell of rotten corpses tho. Reason why I've wanted to donate my dead body to a scientific organization so it can be used for research purposes ever since.
