  1. I'm starting to think that's what the Real™ message of Fruits Basket is. This is what I was thinking about earlier, it was hard to put into the right words. No matter how many fluffs, feel good vibes, and happy faces take the center stage, there's still the ugly looming behind it and in all the little corners. Just like real life.
  2. I wanted to expand on this a bit further with a couple more thoughts. I find a link metaphorically between the Zodiac curse and the abuse. It represents the difficulties they face with trust and love that were broken in some form or another by their upbringing. I don't know if it was intentional or not on the author's end, but I find it uncannily representative. When a victim of abuse is offered love and comfort, they can sometimes become a cornered animal and this can change how others view them, so they push people away. The Sohmas quite literally will push people away. When
  3. I love that one. Kind of a guilty pleasure, but refreshing nonetheless.
  4. I was thinking about Kureno's appearance (finally!) and it had me thinking on something that I can't precisely recall about the manga because it's been so many years since I read it. Kureno is basically enabling Akito by allowing her to control him- he even says as much to Arisa (even if she doesn't understand the context) that he isn't allowed anywhere. This is because he is another victim of Akito's abuse. I'm noticing now a lot more about the larger, darker themes of Fruits Basket and the domestic issues it brings to the viewer's attention. Almost every Zodiac has experienced some form of a
  5. Have you contacted YT support about it? They're really the only ones who will be able to tell you why it was shut down, and if it's possible to restore it.
  6. As pointed out above, one does currently exist and you'll have to earn access to it by sticking around the forums and just being an active member. You can read this old thread if you're interested in some context about why this is: (The server discussed in this thread was the old one which was shared publicly, it is not the same one we have now.)
  7. I will never not recommend Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Looks cute and kid-friendly on the surface. Poses deeply moral questions and a bit of mind-fuckery when you get into it. If it's the thoughtfulness of Death Note you enjoy, I think you may like this one, too. Also check out Bungou Stray Dogs and Fullmetal Alchemist. They both have a familiar vibe to Death Note. Welcome!
  8. How are you doing? Haven't seen you around for a bit so just wanted to check on ya

Still alive and working.  Not from home unfortunately, and covering 3 jobs for people out or sick.  Too busy/tired lately to spend much time online.  Thanks for inquiring.

I hear ya on tired!! I'm glad you're taking care

  9. I've made the case before. Discord has its niche and it does not and never will replace forum discussion. I'm also of the opinion reddit can just be toxic simply in thanks to the karma system. It's so hard to have a constructive conversation when anonymous voting decides whether your post is seen or buried and hidden. Anyway I hope you like us! We don't bite far as I know.

Are you familiar with Dragon Age? If so I would love to see your take on Merrill!
  11. I must say having read the books and admittedly only playing a few hours of the games (just wasn't into them) I rather enjoyed this as well. I took a break from it after I think it was episode 4? I was mother to a four-month-old at that time and was incredibly sickened by the imagery. But I did eventually press on and what remained of the series was satisfactory. I'm very pleased with Cavill as Geralt and would love to see more of him in that role.
  12. I really didn't need the Village People stuck in my head, but here we are. I remember this one! And I know I did at some point in time watch it. I feel like someone was told "your girlfriend is your right hand" and that person took it as spiteful inspiration. You want a weird anime? Look up Sekko Boys.
  13. I am the Scary Dolphin.
  14. Depends where we set the baseline. Whose to say we aren't already living in a fantasy? Maybe the flow of energy is magic.
  15. If there are surveys in the US, they aren't provided by CDC that I've heard of. That could possibly change, but with the CDC itself suffering for funding like many others, including hospitals (non-emergency surgeries halted + nurses working overtime + overload of patients = budget crisis) it's got to be on the backburner. Anyway, as for the news media, I encourage everyone to turn to independent media outlets. They're usually funded by their viewers directly, rather than big businesses and shareholders, and are therefore obligated to report honestly and don't cater to any corporate inter
  16. Recoveries are harder to keep track of in the same way unreported cases are. A large majority of cases are sent home to recover, hospitals are saving their beds for only the most serious and high risk cases. If a patient recovers at home, those numbers often go unreported as it would be up to the patient to follow-up, and simply put many don't unless they actually perish. Cases which close in hospitals are recorded no matter the outcome- so baring in mind what I said earlier, this naturally all adds up to having more new deaths to report on. We can safely assume therefore that the trend o
  17. What you do is make prolonged eye contact with them until they become uncomfortable and ask what you want. Then you smile, wink, and walk backward until you disappear mysteriously into the cornfield.
  18. Lol! We have one of those, too.
  19. TIL about Scott Caruthers, a cult leader who convinced his followers that he was alien-Jesus, needed to harvest "positive energy" from young girls, and communicated with the mothership via cats.

      Positive energy......

  20. I have a keyboard app on my mobile which is super goofy about autocorrecting. I start to type "could" and it changes it to "xoxo". It evidently decided I meant to say "rape chalk" and I didn't catch it in time. I need to get a new one for sure.
  21. It hasn't reached my area yet, but working on what's effectively our frontline in dealing with it, we've been doing what we can and taking due diligence. There is a worldwide PPE shortage due to this, and with much of the manufacturing of such items coming from China, it's a bit of a concern in the healthcare world. Our site has adopted new temporary guidelines which create a "skeleton minimum" PPE requirement so we aren't using any unnecessary equipment. We also have information posted in our lobbies informing patients/visitors that the masks are only to be used by those presenting cough/sore
