  1. I've used GIMP since about 2003, and the only plugin I ever recall using was the GAP animation plugin. Besides that, its basic setup was always effective for whatever I have needed it for in the past. In 2016 I bought the Affinity software and have enjoyed that as a Photoshop alternative since. I still use GIMP, although not as often because it takes a long time to open.
  2. With how full of other concerns this year has been for me, video games were about the last thing on my mind. I did however have the brief joy of playing through Three Houses during my leave, and it was wonderful on all counts.
  3. I remember my skateboard! My brother was the rollerblader. We used to do it a lot, sometimes we would bike, too. Grab some change and try to out-trick one another in a race to the convenience store a few blocks away. We'd usually buy an ice cream or something easy to hold, then ride back as slowly as we could. Thanks for the memory!
  4. I recommend this one a lot. It may or may not be for you-- it's a bit on the short side. Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Hear me out. The anime's overall look is cutesy and looks like it's intended for a younger audience. It's not. It's very deceptive in this angle. It's about a young girl who one day has the "fortune" of meeting a rabbit-like alien creature named Kyubei. He makes her an offer: she becomes what's called a Magical Girl and dedicates her life to fighting witches, and in return, he grants her one wish. Anything she asks for. Seems like a pretty good deal, right? Over
  5. Can you recall what era of anime style it most closely visually resembles? Does it look like an 80's (DragonBall, Akira), 90's (Sailor Moon, Cowboy Bebop), Y2K (Black Lagoon, Fullmetal Alchemist), or modern? Pinning down its age can help.
  6. I think it's even more ridiculous to censor blood in an anime whose MC sets a very bad example for how men should behave. Where do you draw the line? The MC full-handedly, unapologetically, and continuously feels at liberty to grope a 16-year-old's breasts without her consent and in a way she is clearly uncomfortable with. It's racy, sure, but look it's so funny, right guys? But the blood has to go. Hide the blood. Think of our sensitive viewers!
  7. Welcome aboard, next stop: never. You'll have to jump off with a parachute.
  8. That Madoka Magica sequel is looking verily tempting.
  9. I don't understand what you mean by "non-anime". This looks like anime style to me. Netflix clearly got the rights to produce this adaptation from Toei, so no, it isn't a violation of intellectual property, either. A Netflix Original doesn't necessarily mean it was originally created by them- it means that Netflix produced the programme and owns the rights to stream it on their platform and nowhere else. You of course have all the power to stop using their service; that's your decision.
  10. Could it be Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei/The Irregular at Magic High School?
  11. Excuse me, cake topic??
  12. Everything @Ohiotaku mentioned and more. I'm probably sounding like a scrooge here but I just really hate intro/outro. I could tolerate it maybe at the beginning and end of a season, but every episode? Just no. I skip it 100% of the time because they're almost always full of their own tropes and terrible music. A 22 minute run-time for an 18 minute anime.
  13. I would find it more appealing if it weren't a "feature" of a gimmick school (MHA, Soul Eater, Harry Potter, etc.) It should be just an everyday average class, and they are put into a situation not unlike a game of Mafia where not only are they all trying to kill one another but they know there's a one, big bad villain among them which is causing mistrust. Now that would be so much more entertaining.

@OhiotakuI'm starting to get the impression your nephew makes a hobby out of photobombing.
  15. I have a Kindle I adore. I seem to have misplaced it, though. We are decluttering the house in preparation to move in the spring so I hope it turns up... In the meantime I am loving audiobooks. That is seriously cool! On Kindle I'm able to at least highlight things, but if there's a note feature built-in then I'm unaware of it.
  16. I see that as exceptionally disrespectful to the customer. That's like complaining that your bag of cereal had a rock in it and being sent a replacement portion in a black Hefty bag.
  17. I've been reading a lot lately. Currently studying self-marketing in hopes of launching a freelancing gig. Working until 3am only to come home, get maybe two hours of sleep tops and have the baby with me clear until work again isn't my idea of sustainable or healthy. So I'm working toward becoming a SAHM with an income, my goal for 2020.

  18. The more anime I watch the more disdain I get for the word "definitely." It's definitely overused.

      I definitely understand this status.

Your video isn't loading up on my end but... I do just have to wonder how she would feel if she found out you were sharing this without her knowledge on the net. I know I wouldn't be very impressed if it were me.
  21. I'm 'reading' (audiobooking) my first book in what feels like forever. I heard about 'Unfollow' from an interview with its author Megan Phelps-Roper- yes, that Phelps-Roper- on TDPS podcast and I've never been sucked into a book so fascinating. It's a memoir in which she opens up about her life growing up in the Westboro Baptist Church, and how she subsequently left the church and by extension her family. I'm always interested in the stories of people who have escaped cults, and at first that's what I thought this was. But the more I learn about the family's origins and Megan's recollections of her childhood, I'm seeing a slightly different framing of it all (though I still find their messages highly revulsive.)
If you're looking for a new book to pick up, I'm recommending this one!

Is that a thing in Buddhafield? I'm not familiar so I would have to look it up. I don't suppose that documentary you watched is still on Netflix?

  22. It's all semantics at this point I'm afraid! I dunno how much more there is to elaborate on... our property is sort of 'hugged' by our neighbours' behind us, and that land behind our house is all open space where they keep their goats, chickens, I've seen some mules, and there are also some Scottish highland cattle who often travel all the way to the fence line and let us pet their noses and stuff. Sometimes their goats escape their property and get behind my fence and eat my grass. The view from our back yard pretty nice; no houses behind us, just some open grass, the river, and the hi
  23. In my case, yes. There is no door facing the front or back of the house. They are both on the sides. One of them is behind a fence with a porch for chilling and grilling, and leads into our kitchen. The other is a ways down our driveway toward the goat pasture and opens into our family room. The latter we tend to use as a main entrance, but it is still technically a side door.
